- MaxTheMan36, on 06/16/2009, -2/+54This is what CNN wishes it could do.
- plach72, on 06/16/2009, -2/+46This has been the best way to follow news in Iran. Thanks for the hard work.
- kingofinternet, on 06/16/2009, -2/+39like them or hate them, huffington post's coverage of iran has been amazing.
- EarlOfLade, on 06/16/2009, -2/+22The Live-blog along with Twitter has been the best source for information on what is happening in Iran for the past days. Good job guys and girls of HufPo!
- kaydiehl, on 06/16/2009, -0/+1920 years ago, despite government efforts to shut down the media, we were able to follow what was happening in Tienanmen Square because students had fax machines. Now technology is once again coming to the aid of free speech, and freedom of information, this time in Iran. The world is watching, and it is rooting for the guys in green.
- judyross108, on 06/16/2009, -1/+17Great work Nico. This is my go-to blog for what's happening within Iran and for our fellow Iranian activists. Thank you!
- Maddoktor2, on 06/16/2009, -0/+14Digg this up people, it's the easiest to access available new source out there with non-stop coverage of the situation in Iran!
- diemunkiesdie, on 06/16/2009, -0/+11For those interested, another live blog that is keeping up with what is going on is: http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_di ... Though I warn you, last night every time he put a new post with the latest stuff from twitter, he put a picture of a guy who has been shot in the head. Right now he is still putting graphic pictures with each of those posts, so if that kind of stuff makes you queasy, just scroll past it and try and look away!
- ErrorLoading, on 06/16/2009, -1/+12It's just unslanted reporting.
I know, hard concept to swallow. - meese, on 06/16/2009, -0/+9Nico Pitney's coverage on Iran has been great. (As has Andrew Sullivan's.) Al Giordano has provided great analysis of the big picture:

- Soughtout, on 06/16/2009, -0/+8Since the outset of Iran's post-election crisis, Nico Pitney has been in front of the journalistic pack with objective, fact-based, verifiable, news, photos, videos and links on this very important story.
I don't know how the man finds time to sleep.
Kudos to Nico for this spectacular and herculean feat in professional journalism. - jhonsonsr, on 06/16/2009, -2/+10Keep up the good work Nico. Everyone appreciates it.
- Tryptomine, on 06/16/2009, -0/+7You mean... the news is reporting on something that is happening around the world that has the potential to directly impact its viewers?
That's never happened before! - myrubyslippers, on 06/16/2009, -0/+7Um, why?
There's absolutely no reason to attack Iran.
It's not healthy to listen to lying neo-con war hardware salesmen. They'll sell you a war with Iceland for the sake of "National Security." - lemur, on 06/16/2009, -0/+7Iranians always wanted democracy... I would say their history and politics has little if nothing to do with the state of affairs in Iraq. The last major war Iran fought was *against* Iraq, so it's not like the countries are close buddies. They do share religious ties, but spectators have frequently overestimated the strength of those ties as they have historically done very little to improve relations between the two nations.
- sanjames, on 06/16/2009, -1/+7great coverage of the worlds newest democratic revolution
- Suzyk60, on 06/16/2009, -2/+7It is because our own human existence is so dependent on the help of others that our need for love lies at the very foundation of our existence. Therefore we need a genuine sense of responsibility and a sincere concern for the welfare of others. Dalai Lama
- FOBL, on 06/16/2009, -1/+6The coverage on this live-blog and at FARK, who are up to their 8th front-page thread (with some incredibly insightful information on the players behind this drama by poster Tatsuma), is light-years ahead of the MSM's EPIC FAIL.
- fury420, on 06/16/2009, -0/+5Yeah, it's only been on the front page @ huffpo since Saturday... then again, I guess its easy to miss the video & shots of people "being gunned down by officials there" when you spend all your time ranting on the radio about CODE PINK and how the "american left media" & huffpo are ignoring the people "being gunned down by officials there"
- nullity, on 06/16/2009, -1/+6"everyone on the huff post is trying to turn America into Iran!"
Because the Huffington Post is widely known for its right-wing leanings, and promoting religious theocracy???
You're an idiot. - nesagwa, on 06/16/2009, -1/+6I heard a little report today that Ahmadinejad's party is claiming that the demonstrations today arent in fact protesting the election, but rallying support for them (Ahmadinejad that is).
I dont think that kind of thing is going to fool many people. - kingmanic, on 06/16/2009, -0/+4The easiest way to unify a splintered enemy is to attack it. They may hate each other but they'll hate you more. A splintered Iran will be a much smaller risk. They wont' be so cavalier if they know the home front isn't stable.
- kd1s, on 06/16/2009, -0/+4Looks like the gig is up in Iran. After almost 30 years of strict Islamic rule it's starting to chafe. Good, it's about time this happened.
- lemur, on 06/16/2009, -1/+5I've never heard an Iranian speak positively about Iraq. You really fail to see the level of animosity, and it's hard to want to be like someone you can't relate to and dislike. They basically live in two different worlds, and I don't think Iranians envy the suicide bombings and frequent violence in Iraq, not to mention the US presence. They don't look at foreign occupation as "freedom" like you do.
- Mihey, on 06/16/2009, -0/+4I've been following this for days now. Dugg up, let the world know that there are people who aren't afraid of the violent hardline regime.
- xGORDOx, on 06/16/2009, -4/+8Wow, after all the covering HuffPo does in regards to the Iranian Regime, I'm surprised they are doing this.
Seems weird to have the people who were in favor of the Iranian government when Bush was in office to now be reporting on an opposition uprising.
weird, but dugg for doing it. - WasabiBomb, on 06/16/2009, -1/+5That's exactly what a FoxNews shill would want us to think.
- c0mputar, on 06/18/2009, -0/+3I guess I should make the correction that not all 245,000 AMA members are doctors, and that there are far more then 700-800k doctors in the USA, when there are 900k physicians in the USA alone. But the technicality errors in my post are besides the point, the AMA has their own interests in mind that have nothing to do with the interests of the civilian population.
- lipocs, on 06/16/2009, -0/+3haha
- c0mputar, on 06/18/2009, -0/+3http://www.kff.org/insurance/snapshot/chcm010307ot ...
It seems like the USA have the most expensive and least efficient healthcare program in the world.
Also, there are only 245,000 AMA doctors, out of the 700-800k doctors in the USA. I highly doubt 102% of all the AMA doctors oppose Obama's plan. - nixroxx, on 06/16/2009, -0/+3Great coverage/visibility!!
keep on keeping on! - kingmanic, on 06/16/2009, -0/+2anti-government rally: 100,000+
pro-government rally: ~20,000. - omega09, on 06/16/2009, -0/+2Good stream of Iran news: www.freehumans.org
- calebcopeland, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2Award-worthy news coverage.
- fury420, on 06/16/2009, -2/+4actually, plenty on the right wing have been openly expressing their desire for an Ahmadinejad victory, or supporting his alleged victory since it was announced. Now... many are expressing sentiments along the lines of "its better to have an obvious enemy", or using it as a reason/excuse to further their own goals of a western/US intervention in the area, but regardless of the reasoning many still are advocating a pro-Ahmadinejad position
- methdwman3, on 06/16/2009, -0/+2A picture says a thousand words
- legs1, on 06/16/2009, -2/+4Where have you been? The neocons did in fact come out and support Ahmedinejad. They need an enemy to justify their fear and war mongering.
- lmh1356, on 06/16/2009, -1/+3Thank you for all of your updates and helping to keep the world informed of what's going on in Iran.
- xGORDOx, on 06/16/2009, -1/+3"And I was not surprised to hear the neocons who shaped and implemented Bush's foreign policy express their desire for an Ahmadinejad victory."
Dude, wtf are you talking about???
The Bush admin wanted to take this guy down and was one of the Axis of Evil countries.
Hate Bush all you want, but what you are saying is teh complete and total opposite of what had happened here in the U.S. - Chachuka, on 06/16/2009, -0/+2You are a coward.
- fury420, on 06/16/2009, -0/+2I for one am quite surprised it took so many days for this to hit the front page
- Hetman, on 06/16/2009, -1/+3Iran is a democracy and has been for awhile.
- gordigor, on 06/16/2009, -0/+2Wait. Doesn't digg think twitter is for self centered folks to write when the go to the bathroom?
- kingmanic, on 06/16/2009, -1/+3They have always wanted it. This is left over civil strife from the 1979 revolution. The coalition of power brokers and citizens which ousted the shah were heterogeneous. The only commonality was their hate of the corrupt despotic shah. When the dust settled the theocrates had control but many factions wanted a more progressive system but they couldn't wrest control from the theocrates. Iran itself is very young due to the iraq-iran war killing so many young and middle aged men. It was pretty ripe for the old more progressive forces to spark up. Turns out a rigged election was all they needed.
- kingmanic, on 06/16/2009, -0/+2Iranian has democracy. You get to choose the face of your oppression. It's fairly progressive as the middle east goes but it's far far far from any western democracy and the theocrates had undisputed control.
- NMRgentleman, on 06/16/2009, -0/+2The internet giveth bipartisanship, and the internet taketh it away.
- Maddoktor2, on 06/16/2009, -0/+2Nico Pitney deserves a Pulitzer Prize.
- Mihey, on 06/16/2009, -0/+21-3 million Iranians that walked the streets of Tehran for hours and days beg to differ. Also dozens of millions people who have been following the events for days with still breath via Facebook, Twitter and now major media that has finally decided to properly cover the events.
I think you are alone there. -
