http://tinyurl.com/y9y78mw - and101, on 10/05/2009, -2/+35Hasn't the knowledge for how to make an atomic bomb been available for over 50 years? They could probably download the plans off the internet if they looked hard enough, or just buy an old soviet nuke and take it apart to see how it works.
- lolerskate, on 10/05/2009, -5/+36Right...and i remember a certain something about Saddam having stockpiles of chemical weapons and yellow cake and weapon grade uranium...i dont remember too well but i think that was all found in Iraq right?
- Frixionburne, on 10/05/2009, -11/+35Why is it that we find it so shocking when other countries become savvy on 60 year old technology? Yeah, no *****, there are intelligent people in every country.
And of course, the USA is obviously the only country who is capable of being responsible for nuclear weaponry, you know, because we did such an awesome job managing our economy. - L0NER, on 10/05/2009, -0/+21Look at a map...We have invaded their neighbors directly to its left and directly to its right.
Tell me what you would do if someone had invaded and occupied Mexico and Canada?
And labeled you a member of an 'Axis of Evil' - anonymousmedic, on 10/05/2009, -3/+23War. War never changes. It's always the same thing. Too many people, too little land and resources. Ever since man first learned that he could kill his fellow man with a stone, war hasn't changed. No one knew who fired the first shot that day, and within two hours, no one even cared. The world was swept clean that day, made anew by the cleansing baptism of nuclear fire as billions of lives ended.
But the end of the world wasn't the end of humanity. Life slowly began to emerge from giant, underground vaults as time passed. But war. War never changes.
Prepare for the future. - pintomp3, on 10/05/2009, -9/+26Another Murdoch rag beating the drums of war. I wonder how they feel about all the other countries in the region who have nukes.
- richmomz, on 10/05/2009, -3/+19Iran could probably find 95% of what it needs to know with nothing more than access to Google and 5 minutes. It's not like it's cutting-edge technology anymore...
- archiesteel, on 10/05/2009, -4/+18Actually, the US is the *only* country to ever use nuclear weapons against another country.
As far as Iran goes, don't confuse Ahmadinejad's rhetoric as indicative of the real rulers' plans. They mostly want the nukes as deterrent, and considering for how long the US has been sending threatening signals to them (all the way back to 1953), I can't say I blame them all that much. - Dailydose4me, on 10/05/2009, -2/+15Google ?
- Frixionburne, on 10/05/2009, -3/+15So invading/ threatening to invade all of these other countries is fine?
Did you ever ask WHY it is that people hate us in the middle east?
*****, I'll answer it for you: IT IS BECAUSE THE WESTERN WORLD WON'T ***** OFF. - mkriss5681, on 10/05/2009, -1/+11In other news Iran discovers the internet. Additional future plans include: "Mentos+Diet Coke=LULZ", "How to extort Millions from exiled Princes living in Nigeria", and "Starting the Israel Ate My Balls website".
- Gloogle, on 10/05/2009, -1/+10yeah, like rock and sticks. you know how to make a cellphone? i guess not, because you'll probably be earth last survivor.
- khfn, on 10/05/2009, -0/+8Ha ha, you say "we" like you aren't going to be just another victim like everyone else :3
- norman619, on 10/05/2009, -4/+11You are aware of the fact that the info needed to build a nuke is available online right? It's also available in your public lubrary. The knowledge has been publicy availble for decades. What needs to be asked is does Iran have all the components needed to build a nuclear weapon. The title we have before us was designed for a yes answer. I'm pretty sure the people who dugg me down didn't read the question as it was written.
- BotchaMcCoola, on 10/05/2009, -1/+8I suspect they have nukes already. But no one can use nukes anymore without too much fallout, etc. They may be losing their MAD effectiveness. If Israel did start attacking Iran, could Iran nuke them back? If they did most of the Palestinians would also be killed or made even more pitiful than ever. So Iran would most likely just have to retaliate with conventional weapons. Israel might possibly get by nuking Iran but it would be dicey even for them.
- Macrozonaris, on 10/05/2009, -1/+7Which country doesn't?
- gotbannedagain, on 10/05/2009, -3/+9In all fairness to that line of rhetoric - I'm not too keen on Israel having them either.
- hmjones, on 10/05/2009, -4/+10I hope they don't :(
- insanebrain, on 10/05/2009, -2/+8So they finally discovered Wikipedia in Iran ?
- norman619, on 10/05/2009, -2/+7It's not hard. A high school student could build one. The instructions are freely obtainable online. What makes a modern nuke so hard to make is getting the materials and some of the technology.
- trashbox, on 10/05/2009, -2/+7They must have downloaded The Manhattan Project from The Pirate Bay.
- ZenMojo, on 10/05/2009, -0/+5There's also
3.) Scream about it a lot and go find a gun just in case. - tisk, on 10/05/2009, -0/+5Managing nuclear arsenal = managing a nation's economy. Nice analogy genius.
- MWeather, on 10/05/2009, -2/+7"If they want to continue swearing to wipe our allies off the map"
Actually that idion doesn't exist in Persian. They swore our ally would fade from the pages of time. - Sabretou, on 10/05/2009, -0/+5http://i36.tinypic.com/2j65jr6.jpg
- stubear, on 10/05/2009, -1/+6From the article, "The report, Possible Military Dimensions of Iran’s Nuclear Program, presents evidence that Iran has done extensive research and testing on how to fashion the components of a nuclear payload to be delivered by the Shahab 3, a medium-range missile capable of hitting Israel and parts of southern Europe."
Putting a nuke on a missile is a lot harder then making a simple bomb and the threat is far more difficult to deal with given it's nearly impossible to shoot down a missile. So shut the ***** up already about technology you can find in the public library or old technology, blah, blah, blah. Putting a nuke on a missile makes it far more of a world threat then simply making a nuclear explosion and that's the problem here. Too many people get so focused on the nuke aspect and forget the delivery system which Iran is also testing and perfecting. - anaclagon, on 10/05/2009, -1/+6Duck! It's the Enclave.
- Syntaxis, on 10/05/2009, -1/+6Let's see, this only means it makes Iran a more dangerous opponent to attack. That simply means that there will not be a 2nd Iraq coming up. Because if the USA or Israel do decide to attack Iran, they will fight back with full force.
Similarly, they won't attack other countries because they know full well that the USA, Germany, France, Russia, UK and USA will deploy their full arsenal upon the first signs of a nuclear attack. - DirtyDiggberal, on 10/05/2009, -0/+4Drama. Dramatic introductions never change.
- KVachon, on 10/05/2009, -7/+11We're not the only country who is capable of being responsible. But Iran is the only country seeming incapable of rational rhetoric when it comes to Nukes. If they want to continue swearing to wipe our allies off the map, we will continue to actively prevent or discourage them from having nukes.
Or to put it simply. Crazy dictatorships shouldn't get nukes. And before you label the US as crazy, remember that we have had plenty of opportunities to use our nuclear arsenal, but have not. - MMaster23, on 10/05/2009, -2/+6How is this news? You are taught how to make a nuke in college (pyshics).
Actually it's not that hard. The hardest part to making a nuke is gathering the needed materials. - frequentFlyer, on 10/05/2009, -2/+6YAWN.
- ZenMojo, on 10/05/2009, -1/+5Of course they know how to make an atom bomb. Everyone knows how to make an atom bomb. This isn't ***** 1945. The question is, do they have the materials and how long it will take them to get it.
- drowningfish, on 10/05/2009, -7/+11I do not care how ***** crazy Mahmoud may be; he is not crazy enough to launch a nuke at Israel. If I am proven wrong then none of you will be around to call me on it anyhow.
This Iran fear-mongering needs to stop. - poidh, on 10/05/2009, -4/+8'Hoping' is the exact same strategy employed by the UN.
- Gloogle, on 10/05/2009, -1/+4the us knows, israel knows, the russian knows. wtf the north korean knows. the japanese knows. the list goes on and on
- joe573, on 10/05/2009, -1/+4This is just fear mongering. Why would they attack anyone? They would have the whole world come down on them. They are just doing this to insure no one (read the US) will attack them. Calm down people....
- ZenMojo, on 10/05/2009, -3/+6We DID invade Iran after all. I'm more afraid of us.
- Shakermaker, on 10/05/2009, -1/+4There's a lot of countries out there with the knowledge, but building one is another thing.
...and if Iran gets the bomb - what are they gonna do with it? Fire on Israel? Somewhere in Europe? The middle East? It would mean total and complete annihilation were they to use it. - gasoline, on 10/05/2009, -0/+3No-one wins. Both lose.
- Myztry, on 10/05/2009, -1/+4Somewhere in a federal building, a whole lot of flags just got raised...
- MikeSD34, on 10/05/2009, -1/+4I'm guessing it's either going to be either:
1.) Surrender peacefully and let them have their way with me, or
2.) Go out in a hail of gun fire and glory taking as many of them out with me as I can before I die
People rarely choose 1. - anthropodeus, on 10/05/2009, -2/+5dear and101,
thanks for the lulz!
love,
anthropodeus - MWeather, on 10/05/2009, -4/+7Not everyone can deal with Iran as effectively as Bush did.
- jorel009, on 10/05/2009, -0/+3seeing as how wmds are against their constitution (theocracy...so its a bible), and the fact that if you listen to Arab translated news as well as western news.......you can kind of understand that they don't want the bomb.they just want enough power so that they can sell the oil that make produce; instead of consuming it. but hey this post is kind of filled with anti-propaganda.....so let the digging down begin.
- EntropyFan, on 10/05/2009, -2/+4I doubt the information you find on Google will be all that helpful.
However, according to the US government, it shouldn't take a technologically advanced country long to figure it out
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nth_Country_Experimen ... - TimtheTaxMan, on 10/05/2009, -0/+2The reality is that over time, more and more countries will add nuclear weapons to their arsenal. We need to formulate a foreign policy that deals with this without having to intervene with military force. Otherwise, we will be in perpetual conflicts for all of the foreseeable future.
- jeriqo, on 10/05/2009, -0/+2Thank you. You just thumbed down 90% of the comments above.
- anthropodeus, on 10/05/2009, -2/+4seriously. i would be more concerned if they DIDNT know how to make a nuke . . .
