- Soughtout, on 07/05/2009, -4/+52Your coverage of Iran's post-election crisis is unsurpassed, Nico. It is also deeply appreciated. Thank you.
- nicksource, on 07/05/2009, -2/+28I'm so upset that Iran are restricting the mass media from reporting in their country. To be walking about the city streets of England among thousands of people who don't even realise Iran is having any problems, makes me really sad.
I hope they keep fighting for what they believe in! - asgardshill, on 07/05/2009, -2/+25Say what you will about the Huffington Post, but their coverage of this atrocity has been first rate. Many thanks from this one.
- danielzukowski, on 07/05/2009, -4/+20Nico, your reporting on these historic events has been invaluable. Thank you!
- CSheikh, on 07/06/2009, -2/+13Why are you so dumb? Go to Iran and talk with Iranians, then you will find out the truth.
And Iran is not backwards technologically. Virtually every Iranian American is a Doctor or Engineer. If you check at any major university in the Electrical Engineering department you will find plenty of Iranians. We ***** know what twitter is. - SaveJake, on 07/05/2009, -4/+14Again today I cry....We can not see these brave people but they are in our hearts, our thoughts, and our prayers.
Do they know we are here.....wanting their voices to be heard?
Your reporting is the only thing that keeps me going....Thank you. - walruspanzer, on 07/05/2009, -1/+10You'd think CNN, MSNBC, FOX, the AP, or Reuters would jump on the coverage bandwagon.
- chirwan, on 07/06/2009, -2/+10Um... 50% of Iran’s population is under the age of 25. That’s 35 million. Iran is the 3'rd largest country of bloggers. I'm sure they know what twitter is... and a lot of Iranians are using the same where is my vote photo...
You really don't know how twitter is designed. You can build a great number of followers in a matter of weeks if you’re using the right keywords and posting on relevant news.
Why would Iranian’s protest or the national soccer team wear green if you think this was done by Israel?

- SaveJake, on 07/05/2009, -1/+6I have to say most 'tweets' from Iran stopped a while ago...many accounts were set up to find the Green Movement and yes, many were scammers but you would have to have been reading the tweets all along.
Even those on Twitter refused to tweet with 'newbies'....but believe what you will. Go back and watch the films of the reporters before they were thrown out or taken off to prison. - SaveJake, on 07/06/2009, -1/+6Yes the only good source for the happenings in Iran is Nico and shed a tear when reading of the reporter that feels he should be there in person to live the story.
No illness here....but in my family, we have souls and share the pain of others. - takpt, on 07/06/2009, -0/+5Twitter is a service, you can't ban it.
- neuroticfish, on 07/05/2009, -3/+7This blog, and many blogs like it, is very important and vital for the spreading of knowledge regarding Iran's current activity.
- inactive, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4Here's some more depth on the announcement by the Association of Researchers and Teachers of Qom, Iran's largest group of clerics:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/middle ...
FTA: “Candidates’ complaints and strong evidence of vote-rigging were ignored . . . Peaceful protests by Iranians were violently oppressed . . . Dozens of Iranians were killed and hundreds were illegally arrested . . . The outcome is invalid.”
The association’s statement also shows how deeply the political establishment is divided, and the extent to which the Supreme Leader now derives his power from military might, not moral authority. It makes it much harder for the regime to arrest Mr Mousavi and other opposition leaders. - mikeruiz7, on 07/05/2009, -6/+10I really hope Nico earns a Pulitzer for this reporting. I've been checking it pretty much everyday and keeping up-to-the-minute with everything that happens. We've entered a new age of information, and this is its poster-child.
- omega09, on 07/06/2009, -0/+3Another good site to follow the uprising: http://www.freehumans.org
- SkinnerBox, on 07/06/2009, -1/+4Claims on twitter about horrific torture going on in Iranian prisons:
@StopAhmadi: Glass bottles R used to rape male prisoners and then they break the bottle inside body #iranelection - devans00, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2It's definitely a good sign that the religious establishment is not just passively standing by:
"The clerics’ statement chastised the leadership for failing to adequately study complaints of vote rigging and lashed out at the use of force in crushing huge public protests."
By staying silent, it gives the impression of support of the powers that be. Now the Guardian Council knows they can't automatically assume everyone will go along. Even if the clergy depends on them for financial support.
"This might embolden other clergy to come forward." said Abbas Milani, director of the Iranian Studies Program at Stanford University.
We can hope. - drappehsmada, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2keep reading, she was 18 years old 30 years ago. Now she's a 48 year old professor of physiology.
- inactive, on 07/06/2009, -4/+6I honestly cared about Iran... and then Michael Jackson died. Now, meh.
- zigardne, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2troll
- solid12345, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1Or Kurdish uprising, they can dig you down but the fact is Iraq's people showed numerous times they wanted the ***** gone.
- solid12345, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1Old people who can't operate a butterfly ballot doesn't count as fraud
- vatosplace, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1Low buck trolling, you can do better.
- drappehsmada, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1thats okay happens to the best of us
- OrdinaryPanda, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1meh figured I was being stupid =/
- solid12345, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1tmcal is correct, all they are doing is compiling from various mainstream news sources and giving a short blurb/opinion about it
- brownsound00, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1I'm glad to see CBC involved with some links there
- OrdinaryPanda, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1"Three decades ago Mina, an 18-year-old who had recently graduated from high school, took to the streets with her family to protest..."
Say Wha...? - brim4brim, on 07/06/2009, -2/+2I see the point even if your getting digged down for making it.
- inactive, on 07/05/2009, -3/+3Uh. Where do you think Huffington Post gets their news from?

- RiotHeart, on 07/05/2009, -5/+4You're welcome
- solid12345, on 07/06/2009, -3/+2Is digg saving Iran again?
Seriously, the uprising failed, there may be some power struggles going on now within the government but unfortunately the regime won out and will throw a bone to any opposition to get them to shut up for awhile. - AuthorJoe, on 07/08/2009, -1/+0I believe this is only going to push The PREZ to speed up his ambitions of consolidating power. He has the flow on his side since the military and para-military, police, etc. is on his side and support his movement. He even has the dear leader on his side. History is repeating right before our own eyes. They will be moving pretty quickly since they know that time is of the essence towards reaching their debut moment. Additionally, they know they are about to be attacked soon by Israel. The race is on.
- geoffg, on 07/06/2009, -6/+3Try googling "Iraq Shiite Uprising"
Try researching all the Iraqi soldiers who have lost their lives alongside US forces in Iraq...try reading and learning something besides what your libtard media masters want you to know. - inactive, on 07/05/2009, -6/+2This is the desire for democracy that Iraq never showed
- vivosmith, on 07/06/2009, -5/+0Revolution! I say we should send weapons to overthrow this rougue regime.
- fragMasterFlash, on 07/06/2009, -7/+1The sad thing is that things are reaching the point where the Iranian government will do just about anything to get its people to rally behind it again. This is really bad since they could do something drastic like blowing up a bunch of their own people and pointing the finger at the west. Iran may have its own, albeit government faked, 9/11 in the coming days.
Duck and cover.
Duck and cover. - dreamache, on 07/05/2009, -9/+2Wow, crying and only things keeping you going... I hope you have family over there or something, otherwise your comment might be a sign of a mental illness.
- inactive, on 07/05/2009, -17/+5Sorry but the truth must come out:
30,000 Iran related tweets in the past few days. Each of them had some striking similarities -
1. They each created their twitter accounts on Saturday June 13th.
2. Each had extremely high number of Tweets since creating their profiles.
3. “IranElection” was each of their most popular keyword
4. With some very small exceptions, each were posting in ENGLISH.
5. Half of them had the exact same profile photo
6. Each had thousands of followers, with only a few friends. Most of their friends were EACH OTHER.
Why were these tweets in English? Why were all of these profiles OBSESSED with Iran? It has become obvious that this has been the work of a team of people with an interest in destabilizing Iran. The profiles are phonies and were created with the sole intention of destabilizing Iran, affecting public opinion as to the legitimacy of Iran’s election.

This submission only proves that Huffington is inline with the NWO. No one in Iran is really blogging about what's going on in Iran, the people fighting this don't have the time to do that. No one in Iran knows what twitter is. 250,000,000 americans don't even know what it is. - Presbyterian, on 07/05/2009, -17/+5Is it just me or have things kinda gone quiet now?.
Nothings really happening.... - inactive, on 07/05/2009, -17/+2Hi,
Please visit: http://pakalert.wordpress.com/2009/06/16/proof-isr ...
All the Iran blogging is just a psyop to destabilize the country. Please do not be brainwashed by this obvious propaganda attempt.
PS - Ron Paul - inactive, on 07/05/2009, -19/+1If Iran was restricting the media, wouldn't they also be banning twitter? All the bloggers are just paid operatives. Iran is restricting the media because they are meddling in internal affairs.
