Of course! I knew that guy was up to something shifty when I first laid eyes on him in a cowboy outfit in Boogie Nights, I just couldn't figure out what it was at the time.- ConceptJunkie, on 12/20/2007, -1/+2But, but, but, cowboys are good guys!
- saisumimen, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1Not when they're not wearing pants under their leather chaps D:
- ConceptJunkie, on 12/20/2007, -1/+2But, but, but, cowboys are good guys!
- Babblin5, on 12/20/2007, -1/+37Of course.. if you rearrange Don Cheadle, you can spell Dead Nochle... and we ALL know what that means!!!
- soogy, on 12/20/2007, -1/+11More importantly, his name is an anagram for "Head Cloned". Coincidence? I think not.
- epmc, on 12/20/2007, -1/+3Alec Guinness: Genuine Class.
- clak, on 12/20/2007, -4/+24I had just destroyed my Ocean's Eleven DVD when I saw that this report was from the Onion. Damn you, Onion, fooled me again!
- TekGuru, on 12/20/2007, -0/+10if you look on the original Ocean's Eleven DVD his name is nowhere to be found, including the credits. crazy
- missingnoh4x, on 12/20/2007, -22/+6Agh, got me again. I saw the headline and was extremely skeptical that any one guy (I've never heard of this actor, so that didn't immediately tip me off that this was a joke) could be behind the whole thing. Then I saw it was from the Onion.
- clak, on 12/20/2007, -2/+13You don't know Don Cheadle? Whaaaaa? Where have you been the last ten years. Devil in a Blue Dress, Crash, Ocean's Eleven,Twelve and Thirteen, Hotel Rwanda, Traffic, Out of Sight, Rush Hour 2... Jesus, and that's only the movies I've seen.
- Damien79, on 01/15/2008, -0/+1All crap as well.
- bossm4n, on 12/20/2007, -0/+44FTV: "Throughout history we have had Hitler, Stalin, Don Cheadle." Classic!
- bsdboy, on 12/20/2007, -23/+9Just goes to show you, even the good ol' trusty Onion can be tasteless.
- MicheleFloyd, on 12/20/2007, -6/+5You've been substantially dugg down for criticizing a sacred cow. Let me try... As much as I love The Onion, this is very much in bad taste.
- rspeed, on 12/20/2007, -0/+5They did a video about a porn star saying the N word, how is that tasteful?
- terminal157, on 12/22/2007, -0/+1They've always been tasteless. That is half the point.
- john2kx, on 12/20/2007, -27/+10Is this supposed to be funny? I expected more out of the Onion.
- britblogger, on 12/20/2007, -24/+5Thank you for linking to a story... made of *****.
- rspeed, on 12/20/2007, -0/+9This comment is pretty good.
FOR ME TO POOP ON!
- rspeed, on 12/20/2007, -0/+9This comment is pretty good.
- scabbers, on 12/20/2007, -27/+8I remember when The Onion was funny.
- oldhick, on 12/20/2007, -0/+7They can't hit every single one out of the park. Check out the other videos, the racist porn one is hilarious.
- philipkaplan, on 12/20/2007, -21/+3i'm touchin my balls. spred dem pickles out mo. i wans dah hunny bred!
- TokenWhiteGuy, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1You need help, and an english lesson.
- humboldt79, on 12/20/2007, -22/+8I enjoy The Onion, but come on, the situation in Darfur is not funny.
- rspeed, on 12/20/2007, -1/+9Rape is never funny. Unless you're raping a clown.
- spicoli77, on 12/20/2007, -0/+10Save the world from Cheadle!
- Seaseme, on 12/20/2007, -2/+12He really should have won that Academy Award.
- EvilDr.X, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2Look at what you have wrought, Academy voters!
- brad77, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2In retrospect, I don't think that would have stopped him. His thirst for glory would have been temporarily quenched, but his thirst for blood would have compelled him to kill again.
- IsmailOo, on 12/20/2007, -16/+18I can enjoy a joke as much as the next guy, but seriously... this is not something to crack jokes about. Innocent people are being killed, in masses too. It's very sad that people can joke about this.
- ConceptJunkie, on 12/20/2007, -2/+6Is it? Is it sadder that people joke about it or that the U.S., Europe, and in fact all of the U.N. haven't bothered to do anything about it.
The tragedy is so big that if people didn't joke, their brains might explode.- bacon_skoda, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1UN are on the grounds in darfur since august.
- rspeed, on 12/20/2007, -2/+5What, too soon?
- ConceptJunkie, on 12/20/2007, -2/+6Is it? Is it sadder that people joke about it or that the U.S., Europe, and in fact all of the U.N. haven't bothered to do anything about it.
- Hartrain, on 12/20/2007, -16/+5This is of poor taste. If the headline read "Bollywood Star Planned 9/11 To Create Film Role" would it still be funny?
- TheZorch, on 12/20/2007, -3/+18Probably.
- Gunsdead, on 12/20/2007, -1/+10yep.
- DarkReign16, on 12/20/2007, -0/+11Yes.
- chaosium, on 12/20/2007, -0/+8If as contextually appropriate as this, yes. Out of context, probably not.
- Luminoth, on 12/20/2007, -0/+10I'd go so far as to say it would be funnier.
- lnahinu, on 12/20/2007, -0/+6I agree with DarkReign16. I am going to yes also
- jasonfgc, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1you really should have seen all those yes's coming...
- TheZorch, on 12/20/2007, -3/+18Probably.
- graemee, on 12/20/2007, -3/+2Yeah, it just like those guys in that 9/11 South Park episode.
- TicoTico, on 12/20/2007, -16/+4Dugg down for poking fun of a genocide.
- Luminoth, on 12/20/2007, -1/+12Dugg down for having no sense of humor.
- bacon_skoda, on 12/20/2007, -2/+2i guess laughing at your mother getting raped is funny.
- Akaji, on 12/20/2007, -2/+2No, that's actually pretty sick. Why would you even say that? You're sick, man.
- bacon_skoda, on 12/20/2007, -2/+2i guess laughing at your mother getting raped is funny.
- Luminoth, on 12/20/2007, -1/+12Dugg down for having no sense of humor.
- nicksauce, on 12/20/2007, -3/+19Okay, before someone takes this seriously, I feel obligated to point out
THIS IS SATIRE!
(Obvious, I know, but there are some dumb people on digg)- bacon_skoda, on 12/20/2007, -2/+1and even dumberer on the onion.
- Asvetic, on 12/20/2007, -10/+5Why is this located in the World News section? It's neither news or worldly.
- Phil1ip123, on 12/20/2007, -1/+5Don Cheadle's reign of terror threatens more than just Africa.
- ElAssoWipo, on 12/20/2007, -1/+39The most depressing thing about this is that the only article about the Darfur Genocide I ever saw on the front page is a ***** Onion network joke.
- ConceptJunkie, on 12/20/2007, -3/+3Ask the U.N. where they are. In their own way, the writers at The Onion care more, because they are bringing attention to something that is largely being ignored.
- ElAssoWipo, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1Are you one of those people who think the U.N. has an army?
The U.N. is doing the same everyone else does, trying to get governments involved. It's a little better than knowing that China funds the Darfur genocide and then supporting the Chinese olympics. - bacon_skoda, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1UN is in darfur with AU troops
- ElAssoWipo, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1Are you one of those people who think the U.N. has an army?
- dbhaley, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2http://digg.com/search?s=darfur&submit=Search§ ...
- ElAssoWipo, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2Read the articles. The only one that is directly about Darfur calls the genocide a PR scam.
- ConceptJunkie, on 12/20/2007, -3/+3Ask the U.N. where they are. In their own way, the writers at The Onion care more, because they are bringing attention to something that is largely being ignored.
- paulface12, on 12/20/2007, -1/+13Each time I read a headline like this I'm initially like WTF and then it hits me: gotta be The Onion. I think I speak for the rest of the group when I say: Thank You, Onion.....
- sum33t, on 12/20/2007, -11/+8I can never see why making jokes about a genocide is funny.
- dannyboy3020, on 12/20/2007, -1/+12Let's just make jokes about sunshine and lollipops then.
- bbart3d, on 12/20/2007, -1/+10I used to get all my news from the Daily Show but they just scratch the surface. You have to appreciate the in-depth investigations by The Onion.
- elliotys, on 12/20/2007, -8/+3Come on, you gotta at least wait till 10yrs after the genocide, not while it is still going on. I love the onion, but this seems a little distastefull
- rspeed, on 12/20/2007, -1/+9My grandfather died in Auschwitz.
(wait for people to give sympathy)
Yeah, he fell off a guard tower.- Akaji, on 12/20/2007, -2/+1You win the internets...
- rspeed, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1Not my joke, but thanks.
- Akaji, on 12/20/2007, -2/+1You win the internets...
- rspeed, on 12/20/2007, -1/+9My grandfather died in Auschwitz.
- BlueStarr, on 12/20/2007, -11/+3Only fat losers like the onion. Nerds with too much time and computer hardware....
idiots! (marked as wack!)- ConceptJunkie, on 12/20/2007, -0/+6Hey, I may be fat, and I may be a loser, but... wait a minute.
- eliezersilver, on 12/20/2007, -3/+4Too Soon!
- rspeed, on 12/20/2007, -0/+6So this family walks into a talent agent's office and the father says "We've got an amazing act! You gotta see it!"
- dbhaley, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2I love Gilbert Gottfried
- rspeed, on 12/20/2007, -0/+6So this family walks into a talent agent's office and the father says "We've got an amazing act! You gotta see it!"
- EvilDr.X, on 12/20/2007, -1/+6OK, to all the people here getting their feathers ruffled, lighten up. Yes the genocide in Darfur is a horrible thing, but no one's laughing about the deaths. Laughter has a remarkable quality for healing, and one of the best example I have ever seen of such is The Onion's post-9/11 issue. Want to cope with an awful situation that's completely out of your control (and yes, Darfur is out of your control, you can wring your hands and cry "We should do something" all you want, but unless you're one of the leaders of this country who all of a sudden has seen his *****-up priorities for what they are, you personally can't do anything about it)? Laugh at it.
- Trav3133, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1I knew this
- fzammetti, on 12/20/2007, -3/+3I don't know, I'm known to have a pretty good sense of humor, and I frankly chuckled watching it, but it also made me uneasy at the same time... partially for making fun of something that is deadly serious, and also thinking of it from Cheadle's point of view... If I were in his shoes, I know I'd be sueing in a heartbeat (and I f'ing HATE how people sue everyone for everything at the drop of a hat these days). Thinking about the damage that could be done to his reputation and career simply because people are stupid and won't realize it's a joke. I know if I were him, I wouldn't want to be associated with Darfur in that way, even if it was completely obvious to me it was a joke. So I don't know, even though I chuckled, there's a big part of me that doesn't like something like that.
- Vektuz, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2Don't forget that the deeper meaning of most of these onion skits is to make fun of the various news agencies who tend to go after individuals and try to sensationalize and demonize people and turn complex issues into black and white good/bad. But then again, thats the underlying theme of all their skits. They're satirizing FOX/CNN just like Colbert does.
- ryanchapelle, on 12/20/2007, -6/+3Love the Onion, but this one just isn't funny either way you look at it. Even if Don Cheadle has the best sense of humor in the world, I can't see how he'd be remotely amused by this.
- tl1fan, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2no way!
- dbhaley, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3You people have no sense of humor. Stop whining for two seconds and just have a laugh. Cheese and rice...
btw: the clip of Jamie Foxx cracked me up. "Whoooaaaa" It's the academy awards, you retard. Not one of your lame-ass comedy specials. - Willravel, on 12/20/2007, -2/+3It's shock humor. Some humor is satirical, some is absurdist. This is intended to be so extreme and shocking that it appeals to that part of your sense of humor. I'll admit that while I feel guilty about it, I was cracking up when this came out yesterday. This is some funny *****.
- Vektuz, on 12/20/2007, -0/+6For those that don't get this - the onion has many layers (ha ha).
On one layer it looks like they are trying to make fun of a genocide. But peel it away and the real people being made fun of, are the entertainment/news industry, for trying to blame everyone and everything for the genocide that is really happening. Remember that the onion news shorts basically satirize the real news's approach to things. Sorry if I spoiled it for you. :P - BohicaTwentyTwo, on 12/20/2007, -1/+1Cui Bono?
- arplayer2k, on 12/20/2007, -3/+3Wow. This guy is a dirtbag. Hang him before he can do any more harm.
- tehmark, on 12/20/2007, -2/+1I'll lay this out there. I don't care about other countries. I'd rather care about our own. We have enough problems to deal with.
- widman, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1(Assuming you are from USA)
As you didn't care about Iraq, Iran, Chile, Nicaragua, Colombia, El Salvador, Korea, Vietnam, ... As Chomsky said, first step to undo the damage is to stop harming other countries.
- widman, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1(Assuming you are from USA)
- xsquirrel378x, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3try and read the headline again and not laugh to anyone who said this was in bad taste and not funny
- Scheissen, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3The Onion isn't making of Genocide, they're making fun of Don Cheadle who pulls out the race card.
- Vektuz, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1and typical news agencies (FOX, CNN, etc) who lap it up and try to blame everything on everyone
- OmegaSnake2007, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1I know it is the onion but doesn't sound like something fox news would say.
- redsoxmb545, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2I read the title and was like, "WTF?!?", then I looked below it and saw "theonion.com"
HAHA - cybrguy, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1So did their article stir up your feelings on the subject of Genocide? Good! mission accomplished. And you thought they were just trying to make you laugh.
- TiggyThaiMein, on 12/20/2007, -1/+2Let's go rape and pillage the family of The Onion staff! C'mon! It'll be HILARIOUS!!!
- doublejay1973, on 12/20/2007, -1/+1onion got peeled out in the last "unbookmarking" session i had. the king is dead.
- iMyst, on 12/20/2007, -1/+1The situation in Sudan is worse.
- abo46n2, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2And this was dugg because?
- havokzero, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1ONN videos are some of the funniest, most creative original content on the web!
- HappyScrappy, on 12/21/2007, -1/+1Wrong topic. There's a comedy section for a reason. Buried.
- widman, on 12/21/2007, -0/+1Sure. But it's funny how it shocks some people. Relax dude, this is Digg.
- igyigyigy, on 12/21/2007, -0/+3How awesome would it be if on April 1st the Onion ran nothing but real news stories?
- worldonfire1, on 02/08/2008, -1/+0i'm sorry, but this was dugg why exactly?? :/
