  • skewl, on 08/19/2008, -1/+1The recent Good Weekend feature about the Island (more than the facility here) was most instructive. The story had a definite 'white shoe brigade thwarted but still pitching' feel to it. I was left feeling a joint US-Australia military base was on the cards.

    $400,000,000 to house 800 people + $22,000,000 a year.

    Over half a million per person!
