Injured Cameraman Helps Rescue Injured Marine From IED Blast
foxnews.com — A FOX News cameraman helped save the life of an injured Marine in Afghanistan - and was injured himself - when the armored Humvee convoy he was traveling in was struck by a roadside bomb Sunday night in the Helmand province, a Taliban stronghold. IMHO we need MORE journalists like this: know when to put the camera down and be a human!

- headzoo, on 08/05/2008, -3/+15Cameramen/photographers have been known to stand by and watch people die, just to get that perfect picture.
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?story ... - cathpah, on 08/05/2008, -5/+7@ headzoo:
that article says nothing about the photographer watching anyone die. In fact, it talks about him committing suicide after he saw such intense atrocities.
Did you think photographers should pull a red wagon behind them with enough food for everyone in a famine area? There is a chance he could've saved that starving child if he gave the child some food. However, his picture most likely saved MANY more children by creating an image that captured the situation, and thus probably led to more donations/support/aid for the area. - Bunnybutt, on 08/05/2008, -1/+8@ Cathpah:
The article that headzoo posted showed the photographer's prize winning photo of a "starving child collapsed on the ground, struggling to get to a food center" with a vulture stalking him as he tries to make his way. If that is not the photographer watching someone die, I don't know what is.
He did not help that child in anyway shape or form. Instead he stayed behind his lens and watched that particular child dying before his very eyes. ( We are not talking ALL children in that famine area, just that one child ) Clearly the photographer himself could not handle the images that he captured or any guilt he felt as he later committed suicide. - yournightmare, on 08/05/2008, -1/+5cathpah, that kid did in fact die in front of the photographer, only a few hundred yards from the food center. The photographer's excuse for not intervening was that as a journalist, he's not supposed to get involved. You can find other articles about it on the web.
- kaosethema, on 08/09/2008, -0/+1if it were not for journalists, we would never know such things occur. it is a major responsibility archiving the human experience.
- AAK15, on 08/04/2008, -88/+17***** you
- farmerjohn48pan, on 08/04/2008, -11/+54That's a witty and clever response genius. I'm totally convinced by your lucid and brilliant comment.
- OffPiste, on 08/05/2008, -18/+29Truth hurts, doesn't it libtard.
- SimmaDownNow, on 08/05/2008, -16/+9I personally think your comment is what is wrong with us. Nonetheless, I will digg you up, because you have a right to say it and that Marine would agree with me.
- MaceSoul, on 08/05/2008, -1/+11Actually, he's right. The first rule of modern journalism is to not get involved for any reason. Look at the blowback when Sanjay Gupta from CNN operated on the little child, just about every journalism blog in the country took sides against him.
- lbmouse, on 08/05/2008, -18/+6If it wasn't for ***** Dubya, he would have been home by now... or better yet, never been there in the first place.
- CARHINO, on 08/05/2008, -1/+5 And we would be seeing these types of scenes here at home, where the leftist media would still gloirify them, as Bushs' fault.
- quaxon, on 08/05/2008, -10/+2Yea, it's a shame he has no journalistic integrity and didnt just let the jarhead die. Another murderer lives to see another day i guess.
- farmerjohn48pan, on 08/05/2008, -1/+5So our men in uniform are murderers now? Shame on you.
- tufftugg, on 08/05/2008, -9/+3 Wow, you Neocons never give up on a failed policy.
- pjr12345, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1There's nothing "neo" about this "con". Do you even know what the term means?
- CARHINO, on 08/05/2008, -1/+6You forgot to mention he would have first claimed the attack was in response to killing of innocent civilians.
- CryRightardCry, on 08/05/2008, -8/+1ROFLMAO
That's ***** funny, pretending like FOX had anything to do with it.
C'mon rightard, Fox can't hire only liars and cowards, someone with courage was BOUND to slip throught. - BabyWookie, on 08/05/2008, -6/+1I don't get it... CNN is almost as disgustingly right-wing and pro corporate fascist as FOX is.
- goodolboykt, on 08/06/2008, -2/+1Yeah CNN is so anti American
- DanThePainter, on 08/04/2008, -52/+25I'd love to digg your comment up, but I hate generalizations. Plus, the cameramen are not the correspondents or commentators.
- exgop, on 08/04/2008, -73/+135If it would of been a CBS reporter he would of stepped on the wound and praised the Taliban for their brave attack against the infidels.

- DerangedPenguin, on 08/05/2008, -10/+29I dugg you up... I hate generalizations usually, but this one is all but true for CBS.
- jec68, on 08/05/2008, -26/+4***** You.
- OffPiste, on 08/05/2008, -11/+17Yep that's the Left for you, incapable of critical thinking, incapable of making coherent arguments. They simple can't understand why people don't feel joy each time an American soldier is killed or wounded in battle.

- ssulistyo, on 08/05/2008, -12/+2dugg down for grave crimes against the laws of grammar
- hoghug, on 08/05/2008, -4/+7Yeah, just like that troop-hater Kimberly Dozier from CBS, huh?
If she really loved America maybe she wouldn't have taken all that shrapnel to the head. And if her crew members didn't hate the troops so much maybe they wouldn't have died when that IED went off.- JoeDiggsIt, on 08/05/2008, -3/+5Not to sound like a jerk, but being there and dying doesn't expressively say they love America. That was their job.
- hoghug, on 08/05/2008, -1/+7Well, one could say the same thing for that Fox reporter. We don't know a damn thing about how he feels about the war or even America. We just know he was brave enough to save someone in peril under extreme circumstances.
To arbitrarily say this guy is more patriotic than anyone else embedded over there is just foolish. - miket, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2No one couldnt really, not only was he THERE, he stepped in and saved a life. I might agree with you if he had just stood there recording it
He had a then-and-there choice to get involved and he did so. - hoghug, on 08/06/2008, -0/+4Again, him saving a life doesn't make him a patriot. It makes him a hero. Heroes can be patriots and vice versa, but one doesn't necessarily equal the other.
- tufftugg, on 08/05/2008, -5/+5 Another Neocon
- pjr12345, on 08/06/2008, -1/+2Please define the term. I see no evidence - one way or another - that demonstrates this political leaning.

- Powerfan5000, on 08/05/2008, -4/+3You seem to be the only one.
- AAK15, on 08/04/2008, -8/+170Why all the ***** comments? This guy saved the life of a US Marine. Period. There is absolutely nothing negative to say about that at all
- tasine, on 08/04/2008, -4/+30AAK15, I may not read your comment as you meant it, but I haven't seen any of the type comments you mention, at least not on this thread. It seems to me that all have been favorable, except to CNN and CBS, neither of whom deserve favorable mention. I see nothing written by any posters here that denigrate the Fox cameraman and none have degraded our fine military.
- CARHINO, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3The responses below change your mind? And yes there are some above denigrating our troops.
- AbdullahAbuDawu, on 09/12/2008, -46/+4Anyone who rescues a babykiller imperialist is okay by my book.
- stonebone4, on 08/05/2008, -4/+16*****.
- whodoes, on 08/05/2008, -13/+8actually, more important than the soldiers life, we have an opportunity to inject some moronic politics here. We can talk about Fox news and CNN. We can bash each other back and forth using Olberman and O'Reilly as blunt partisan whacking-sticks.
- pdrap, on 08/05/2008, -15/+4Before I say something good about a Fox reporter, I want proof he didn't plant the bomb himself.
No, I don't like Fox, and I don't trust them an inch.

- jester55, on 08/05/2008, -13/+14Don't get your hopes too high, it was only the camera man. But at least its a start. You wouldn't see any of the anchors doing that.
- SydBloom, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2Well at least not if it would spoil their makeup
- MalDON, on 08/05/2008, -1/+2And a freelance cameraman at that.

- farmerjohn48pan, on 08/04/2008, -13/+44Sounds like we need to recruit among the news crews!
- dd12101, on 08/04/2008, -58/+4My, my, the brave camera man valiantly rushed to the rescue of a wounded SOLDIER, we should give this guy a medal, no alot of medals. He's a hero, a real hero, sacrificing his safety to bring the news to us. What we do without them? The media just isn't appreciated enough for their unending sacrifice and self indulgence... No one gets coverage like one if their own.....
Truth: the only real heroes are the soldiers, the self serving camera man and his journalist are only there for their own self promotion. The title of the article says it all. I'm sure this camera toting wimp will be be showered with the accolades of his fellow media propagandist.- ladyjusa, on 08/05/2008, -2/+20Truth: There are many kinds of heroes. I don't believe they did this for their own self promotion.
They were embedded with the Marines, many of the Marines feel thy are one of them, they put themselves out on the front lines just like everybody else.
You would rather the media just sat idly by, filming the explosion, and report how evil this war is. This guy helped save this Marines life. He is a hero! Period!- dd12101, on 08/05/2008, -17/+4I repeat, no one gets coverage like one of their own.
Remember, the media told the story.

- btschul, on 08/05/2008, -4/+18Fact: Bears eat beets.
Fact: You are a stupid *****
Fact: Injured non-combatant helping rescue an injured American soldier = Hero.
Fact: "I'm sure this camera toting wimp" - This guy has more balls than you could get your nerdy little mouth around, so why don't you shut the ***** up. - Togusa09, on 08/05/2008, -2/+10They're in a bloody war zone...
Some people become reporters because they believe in what they do, same with soldiers.
Someone helped save someone else's life, be happy with that much. - kickelephant, on 08/05/2008, -5/+4I'm with dd12101 to a certain extent. How many stories in recent memory do you hear about a soldier helping another soldier? One camera man acts like a ***** human and we are amazed? Is it because we think soldiers should be doing this in the first place and this civilian was given a rare opportunity to help out? Maybe. I'm glad the cameraman did that, but what about all of the other stories about heroism?
Also, It's easy to comment on the situation while in my armchair, in the A.C.... - quaxon, on 08/05/2008, -7/+2Truth: Throwing your life away to kill innocent people in a land far away so we can expand an empire and steal resources makes you a stupid, filthy jarhead, not a hero. Too bad fox basically part of the government, they should have let the killer die.
- dd12101, on 08/05/2008, -3/+3Leave if you don't like it, perhaps Iran or Saudi Arabia will open their arms for you....
- ladyjusa, on 08/05/2008, -2/+20Truth: There are many kinds of heroes. I don't believe they did this for their own self promotion.
- 03FightOn, on 08/04/2008, -42/+88And people wonder why our soldiers prefer to watch Fox News.......
- swrostmore, on 08/05/2008, -32/+10Because that's literally the only channel which they are allowed to watch while on deployment?
- OffPiste, on 08/05/2008, -8/+30You've never been on deployment.
- swrostmore, on 08/05/2008, -25/+9Damn straight I haven't, that doesn't make what I say untrue.
- nathannecro, on 08/05/2008, -1/+18look swrostmore, if you havent been on deployment....anywhere......you should be citing your sources and crap......
- theGerhard, on 08/05/2008, -2/+13wow, what a compelling retort. Because you've never done something to experience a claim you are making means that it could be true. Except for the fact that I and anyone who has been deployed since color television has been out knows you're an idiot, excellent argument.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armed_Forces_Radio#Te ...
A section that might interest your ignorant ass:
AFN News is a rolling-news channel providing news from all major news outlets. Newscasts, such as the NBC Nightly News,Fox News, ABC World News Tonight, and CBS Evening News, were all scheduled to air in the mornings so viewers could watch the headlines live, but now they air on a tape delay in the regular early evening slot, back to back.
and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentagon_Channel#Prog ... - erasedgod, on 08/05/2008, -11/+6It's AFN on deployment and Fox News in chow halls or almost any other place on base (in the rear). In the five years I've been in the Corps, I've never seen anything but Fox News on the TVs. The chow hall workers (civilians) get pretty pissed when you change the channel, too. You're right in saying that we have no say in the matter.
- swrostmore, on 08/05/2008, -13/+2Thank you Erased, I was waiting for someone who's been there to set the record straight. I could of course cite sources but IMO, independent third-party testimony is far more convincing.
- JessicaLF77, on 08/05/2008, -0/+11I remember watching Robin Meade on Headline News while eating dinner every evening while I was in Tikrit. In fact, I think the only place I ever saw Fox News on my deployment was in my CO's office. It was ESPN and AFN at the gym, and Headline News and CNN-International in the DFAC.
- theGerhard, on 08/05/2008, -0/+9Ya, I don't have 5 years experience, but erased is right about things like chow workers (civilians contracted by companies like sodexho food group) having it on FoxNews, but he said that's in chow halls in the rear, not deployment, which is your argument. chow-time at MCB-Q or Pendleton might be foxnews state-side, but if your deployed, you're probably watching crappy AFN.
I'm just making the point that your statement "Because that's literally the only channel which they are allowed to watch while on deployment?" is ***** stupid and uninformed. You can voice your opinion about the war or our military all the ***** you want, but don't make ass-headed claims that you don't have a damned clue about. - swrostmore, on 08/05/2008, -9/+2I'm having a hard time believing that you don't see the contradiction between on the one hand former military personnel saying they are force-fed either military-vetted, tape-delay news (AFN) or Fox, and on the other hand "your point" that I'm flat wrong when I state they don't have a choice of what to watch. And I don't think Erased meant "stateside" when he said "in chow halls or almost any other place on base (in the rear)." Thirdly, I have a hard time believing that the military obeys Sodhexho or KBR or whoever's policy in their mess halls, seems like it would be vice versa.
- jerger23, on 08/05/2008, -0/+8I think the bottom line of this discussion is that deployed viewers are at the mercy of what channels are available and what the person in charge of the specific facility decides they want to watch/show on TV. If he/she likes FOX, that's what's on TV.
Having deployed twice, CNN and MSNBC were displayed far more frequently than FOX was on both of my deployments. To be honest, I never once saw FOX News while I was in Iraq, but I had a nearly daily dose of Keith Olberman.
And by the way swrostmore, "in the rear" (referencing military locations) means not deployed. - erasedgod, on 08/05/2008, -0/+6@swrostmore: I did mean state-side. Every TV I've seen on a state-side military installation has been on Fox News. TVs on military installations outside the US get either local channels or AFN. AFN shows a pretty good mix of news. In fact, the only real downside to AFN is that the commercials are replaced with horrible PSAs... even during the Superbowl.
Secondly, I get the feeling people didn't read my earlier comment and just buried it because they saw you (mistakenly) agreed with me.
- AbdullahAbuDawu, on 09/12/2008, -27/+15Because state run media is good for morale when you have been on tour for 3 years without seeing your family.

- swrostmore, on 08/05/2008, -32/+10Because that's literally the only channel which they are allowed to watch while on deployment?
- DerangedPenguin, on 08/05/2008, -17/+36OK a lot of negatives towards the media types, and some do deserve the negative comments. However some do deserve a bit of recognition, by the very act of day to day putting on Kevlar and venturing out into the wilds of war. Sure they could have stayed state side covering the latest tornado, hurricane or Iowa flood or been blessed with the scared coverage of the Barack Hussein Obama Traveling Magical Mystery Tour, but these reporters chose otherwise.

I love clicking on hidden comments and I was surprised it was FOX too! Not really a bad comment, lots of whiny bitches on Digg. Just to show you can't have preconceptions about people being people. It didn't matter if it was FOX news. The camera man did a noble thing.
Now the ***** comment is funny. You have this guy with trojan in his name, has a picture that looks like a total douche bag and finishes off with a gay comment.
***** Hilarious. Maybe all those douche bag things people post on here are actually a representation of diggers themselves.
Lets go to Guido Beach! I heard FOX News might go too!

- quaxon, on 08/05/2008, -5/+5Last i checked there were a million plus dead civilians from just this recent war. Not to mention the hundreds of other aggressive military acts around the glove just in the last few decades that most people dont even know about (Laos, Cambodia, Nicaragua, East Timor, etc.) that killed thousands of innocent people. Add the fact that our military is only used to expand our empire and steal/exploit resources for our corporation (the troops do not defend fight for freedom, our ancestors fought the revolutionary war so we wouldnt have to fight for our freedom today and we dont so that is all ***** to make you feel good about supporting murderers). Then yea, our military definitely are murderers, and thats putting it lightly. Sorry, if you kill someone, especially an innocent person in a country we have no right to be in just so our corporations can make a buck, then you are a murderer. Maybe your definition of murder only includes killing white people, but i consider all people of this earth equal. This is an all volunteer army, they are not forced to join or kill. ***** them.
- LunaticFringe, on 08/05/2008, -42/+17And now watch FOX feed off his brave deed like voracious parasites. They should fire O'Rly and give that cameraman his slot.

Most of these poster put up with the anti-FOX crap all the time (also made up) so now it's their turn to throw the *****. Pay backs a bitch isn't it?
- the6thReplicant, on 08/05/2008, -9/+8Yes and O'Reilly would have eaten his liver with some type of wine from italy.
- DellDrEvil, on 08/05/2008, -30/+11After all the proven deceit from Fox News in the past, I'm hesitant to believe this story. I'd be more likely to believe it if it was reported by an alternate news vendor.
Can't help but think in this most cynical age, that Fox is trying to generate support in a time where their viewership is rapidly decreasing.- notSLICK, on 08/05/2008, -10/+5well, respect for the act.
still not gonna unblock fox from my cable box.- CARHINO, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1Typical leftist, I know that XYZ is biased, that's why I never listen to them. The reality is that you are afraid of hearing the truth, as it may conflict with the msm kool-aid, and actually require you to think.
- Colonel2121, on 08/05/2008, -3/+5considering that their viewership is actually increasing, but cool comment.

for disregarding his own safety to save the life of a marine, this man is wearing an invisible EGA (eagle, globe and anchor) somewhere on his body.
i have FOX news blocked on my TV. i never watch it. but i have to say that the thing this man did was brave and righteous.

- DirtyBinLV, on 08/05/2008, -21/+6If we only had 100,000 more FOX cameramen, then maybe there wouldn't be a "Taliban stronghold" in a country we've been fighting in for 7 years.
- peterfnet, on 08/05/2008, -0/+6Sure, because those full time soldiers aren't doing anything. Good call....
- Acqua206, on 08/05/2008, -0/+34Respect given where respect is due.
- mukhtara, on 08/05/2008, -7/+10Definitely admirable, definitely a hero. I hope he would have acted the same way if it was an injured iraqi/afghani soldier.
- CARHINO, on 08/05/2008, -1/+3Are you saying Iraqi as in coalition forces? or as in terrorrist? If terrorist the video would be of the cameraman being blown to bits, after the wounded SOB triggered a grenade, to kill those trying to assist him. Our side doesn't need to demonize muslim extremists, they do it themselves by their own actions. Why do you think the Majority of the MSM won't show the towers falling? The beheading videos? Report on the human shields used by terrorists? the killing of children in schools, used as firebases by terrorists? Sadly even Fox under reports these instances, as a result of Bush policy, enacted to protect muslims in the U.S from discrimination. We on the right are rarely 100% behind Bush, unlike the BDSers, who would disagree with him if they called them by their first names.
- danielsasona, on 08/05/2008, -6/+16"Know when to put the camera down and be a human"?
How about not dehumanizing people. Ever. I think that would help tone of the comments on this article. Even if you hate them, they are still people.- CARHINO, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3Beheadings, terrorist bombings, honor killings? Anyone who can listen to the 911 call of a young girl dying, with the tone of betrayal in her voice, as her own father murders her and her sister, for dating NON_MUSLIMS, and then argue that this piece of trash deserves anything other than a quick death, followed by burial in PIG *****, is an idiot, and a danger to liberty.
- whodoes, on 08/05/2008, -9/+35kudos to the cameraman.
as for the dig-trolls who cant see ANY EVENT without coloring it with a ***** crazy pseudo-political overtone... please drink some bleach. No. I think they are committing war crimes.

- merlin5, on 08/05/2008, -4/+18Such ridiculous comments here. Politics? I pray to God every day that if I'm ever tested like this camera man was, I'd respond as bravely. Courage and honor, you know?
- Shoebox639, on 08/05/2008, -2/+9This is nothing to do with what station's cameraman saved the marine. When that bomb went off, the cameraman seized to have any affiliation except as citizen of the humanity. He was a human being saving another human being. Hell, just imagine the comments if an Al-Jazeera cameraman saved the marine. Anyone who thinks anyone from any other station would do other wise is sadly mistake and and I pity them for having such a narrow view of the world.
- CARHINO, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4If you believe an Al-jazeera cameraman would have done the same, you are the one with tunnel vision.

I hope this is the rule rather than the exception that makes it, but my general bias makes this hard to believe. - JimmySpaza, on 08/05/2008, -15/+10Doubt that you would ever see a leftist reporter from AP or Reuters do that...unless the guy injured was an Islamic terrorist or anti-American, anti-Israel activist.
As far as I am concerned, most of these reporters and photographers, especially from AP or Reuters, are the enemy and should be treated as such with extreme prejudice. Know what I mean?- BotchaMcCoola, on 08/05/2008, -5/+7I think we know. Some folks like you ruined Germany a few times too.

- GreatSunJester, on 08/05/2008, -1/+7well -- it was an AP reporter who, when he discovered he was going to be witness to the execution of women instead of criminals, asked if he could film the event. I would like to think a human would have turned away and not documented the atrocity.

- Ricemanstm, on 08/05/2008, -8/+15Bottom line. Civilian saves soldier. Who the F cares about the other BS? The Fox hating liberal loons won't acknowledge anything except that they hate FNC and will use their autonomous bury bots to try and kill the posting. F'em.
- myranttoyou, on 08/05/2008, -12/+6Hmm, I smell a made up story. This is the kind of thing you hear about, and the propaganda works. Then, years later when it is revealed to be fake, the significance of which doesn't matter.
I mean really, who's word do we have to go on this? Faux News? Pfft.- exgop, on 08/05/2008, -3/+3Your pathetic. Thank God for the second amendment

Half truths and whole lies.
Stay tuned for updated coverage after a word from our sponsor/ - hoghug, on 08/05/2008, -3/+10That's wonderful that the guy had the guts/ fortitude to help a trapped soldier. But it's wildly insulting to suggest that the other brave men and women covering this war care any less about the soldiers/ human life.
So easy to condemn the bravery people in a war zone while browsing a message board halfway around the world. Yeah, those AP/ Reuters/ CNN/ CBS guys are the REAL cowards, huh? I'm sure if you weren't so busy you'd totally run over there and report on all the WMD & al qaeda/Iraqi conspirators that "the MSM don't want you to see!".
bury away.- GreatSunJester, on 08/05/2008, -0/+5Not burying in the least. You raise a valid point. However in the past 6 years of embedded reporters, this is the first one we hear about helping a wounded soldier. I would honestly love to know what the soldiers really feel about the reporters based upon their affiliation.
- hellsing47, on 08/05/2008, -4/+10I can't believe anybody here has anything negative to say about this situation.
- myranttoyou, on 08/05/2008, -7/+7I thought Afghanistan was "safe" now? Didn't we improve it like did in Iraq?
- LunaticFringe, on 08/05/2008, -9/+8To all the people here waving their political dicks around:

CNN sucks.
MSNBC sucks.
They all suck utterly.
If you want to bring your ***** in and start the bipartisan *****, then ***** you. You don't care about America, and I hope you rot in Hell forever being sodomized in the ass by the devil until you utter passionate cries for more. The sad thing is that the FOX fans have been doing the majority of this *****.
A guy did something honorable and courageous. It wasn't conservative. It wasn't liberal. It was American. Most importantly, it was /human/. Stop bringing your imaginary politics in to try and tarnish that.

And liberals claim that Conservatives are full of hate....
These comments make you no better than the terrorists, in fact these comments are a form of verbal terrorism!!!- hoghug, on 08/05/2008, -8/+3As far as I can tell the jist of the comments here is:
Liberals: Fox sux
Conservatives: Death to American AP, Reuters & CBS reporters.
I'd say the later is more hateful. But I suppose that's just my liberal pinko chai-tea swilling america-hating bias.- anixmander, on 08/05/2008, -1/+0Personally, I fail to see a difference.

- hoghug, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1 Fact is these people are armed with cameras & laptops. One would hope that if someone had the chance to help another wounded human being, they'd do everything in their power to do so. But it's no small mystery that these guys aren't wiping out hordes of insurgents with their fully-armed iBooks & Nikons.
On the other hand, a good number of journalists have been killed or wounded while covering this war. 150 dead and God knows how many wounded.
I have as much disdain for the MSM as anyone, but I'd never assume one station/ newspaper's employees care about soldier's lives any more or less than anyone else. - 510dustmite, on 08/05/2008, -5/+1Honestly, I hate the whole premise that "we need MORE journalists like this: [those who] know when to put the camera down and be a human!" The whole context of why this is being posted is just so ***** presumptuous and, frankly, condescending. Those journalists out there aren't serving in iraq, documenting the ravages of the bloodiest American war of our generation by day, and getting their nails done by french manicurists while sipping bubbly and having peanut butter licked out of their asses by buffont unnurtured poodles by night... These folks are more often then not sacrificing and dying on the front line along side our troops, and I think it's time we showed a bit of gratitude... hoo. rah.
- pigfister, on 08/05/2008, -9/+3faux news ***** off, more government propaganda from Rupert Murdoch.

Neutrality of the press exists for a reason. Although it would be hard to argue that what this journalist did is wrong, journalists everywhere count on being perceived as neutral in a conflict to be able to report both sides as completely as possible. This ability has a immeasurable value to civilization, It is one of the mechanisms in place to prevent those in power from using war as controlled theater. I would argue that the access we have to information and to "the other point of view" through the modern press (i'm obviously not talking about Fox News and their ilk here) has done more to prevent war and slaughter than any brave individual journalist.
