- Picaroon, on 03/13/2008, -0/+7I've never had a professor who did anything but remain neutral and promote learning. That said, in several of my classes the basic idea that the white, straight, American male (a demographic I am in) is what is wrong with the world has been repeated either through the books or through assignments.
That's just my personal experience with it. - GLJones, on 03/13/2008, -0/+7The Communist told us they would defeat us from within. They slowly took over the educational system and this is the result. Indoctrination in far-left, socialist dogma. Disagree with them and they bury you.
- MrsSpooky, on 03/13/2008, -0/+8I remember a piece John Stossel did many years ago about "freedom" of speech and thought on campus. It doesn't exist if you don't toe the party line. I remember one scene, he was talking to some students, and every time he opened his mouth to speak, they shouted him down.
Picaroon, I'm glad to hear that there are (or were) professors who remain neutral and promote learning. You don't say how long ago this was or what subjects these classes were (I was working on a computer science degree, and there isn't much politics in technical classes of that nature :).
Personally, I wonder how many professors are keeping their thoughts to themselves until they can get tenured. Then they CAN speak their minds.- Picaroon, on 03/13/2008, -0/+5I'm in school now. Political science courses, in general at ASU, have professors who are neutral. They question *everything* anyone says, to make you think. However, in both a service class and in sociology I was given these articles and things to read about how bad the white, American, straight male is. Other friends of mine have experienced the same *****.
I've heard of super liberal professors who cram their opinions down your throat; I just haven't experienced it (yet?).- CaptainAmerica1, on 03/13/2008, -0/+5Being given articles about bad white, American, straight males is worrisome enough. I'd call it "subtle cramming" down throats.
