The reality is all of the forces fighting in that region are wrong, and this confrontation is nothing more then a schoolyard grudge match at this point. Without support from other countries, both sides would have either come to terms with one another or eliminated each other at this point. But the world taking a hands-off policy at this point is not going to happen.
As the major power Israel has to be the leader in ending this conflict. They can end it one of two ways, by killing everyone (which at times appears to be the plan, a final solution if you will.) Or they can be serious about a real peace, and try to deal with all of the years of anger and hostility that the Palestinians have. Of course that would mean allowing the anger to run it's course. But we have seen that will only lead to more terrorist actions by Hamas. So there is no chance of that happening either. - lindsayt, on 08/14/2008, -1/+16Like any conflict, there are many many many points of views. These Palestinians are being persecuted because they support creating a Palestinian State alongside the existing Jewish one. Hamas wants a Palestinian State at the expense of Israel.
One thing is very true in this video. Israel does care for all hurt peoples in their hospital, regardless of whether these people are Israeli Jews. Israel was bombing Lebanon because Hizzb'Allah captured 2 of their soldier and were, on a daily basis, lobbing rockets into Haifa.
Does the article accuse Israel of targeting those civilians? No.

So if a child is killed in a car accident, then the driver who lost control of a car is a murderer? Intentions matter a great deal. This is why reasonable legal systems (but apparently not you) make distinctions between premeditated murder, non-premeditate murder, negligent homicide, and accident. This is why intentional murder of civilians is a war crime, but unintentionally killing civilians by attacking legitimate military targets is not.
Please give me an example of a modern military that did not kill any civilians during war. And if, as I expect, you do not find one, then please give me an example of a moder military that made a greater effort to minimize casualties among its enemy's civilians than the IDF. - Trublmakr, on 08/15/2008, -5/+1That's not a "play",.. it's a fact. Your myopic military mindset can't seem to grasp emotion - the humanity and suffering of those in the occupied territories - that's why you're not likely to see any more peace over there than those 4 Lebanese-Canadian children briefly enjoyed here. Do you honestly believe you can condemn Israel to do _nothing_ when rockets filled with ball-bearings are being fired into CIVILIAN areas with the INTENT to maim and murder CIVILIANS?
Israelis don't broadcast shows aimed at children that teach them to hate.
Israelis don't pay mothers to have their children blow themselves up with the intent to murder civilians.
Israelis don't dance in the street when a child-killer is set free.
Israelis don't send their kids to summer camp where they learn to fire rockets and RPGs.
Israelis DO prosecute those who commit crimes - Israeli-Israeli crimes AND Israeli-Palestinian crimes.

Come people, certainly you can find different words to express your frustration or anger. Hamas, Hizbullah, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Syria, Lebanon, et al. have no respect for human life. It was the arabs in 1948 that demanded the arabs living in what is now Israel to leave. the new government of Israel begged the arabs to stay. The only palestinians were Jews. It wasn't until Yasser Arafat mis-appropriated the word that the world decided to call arabs "palestinians". Arabs that left their homes for refuge camps have been political pawns used by the arab nations to try to destroy Israel numerous times. It is time for the nations of the world to repent and turn the to G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and His Messiah Y'shua. That is the call that is going out.
