Picture one- A small village with an aqueduct and impeccable masonry that has held up for most likely hundreds of years. This small village most likely also rakes in tons of tourism money and its citizens are smart enough not to tear down historical buildings.
Picture Two- A city settled and built by the Dutch and English. Also home to an extremely large slum populated by native Africans.
Picture Three- Another city built and created by English settlers. Also home to an extremely large slum populated by native Africans.
To deny that Africa is ***** up beyond belief is to do an injustice to that continent. Even African leaders admit to this.

A friend of mine who is half Guatemalan and half Japanese and grew up in both countries says that while you may see less overt intolerance or discussion of such issues, it's actually far worse than in the US. In his opinion the US is an almost unimaginable utopia of tolerance, considering world history and how humans usually handle differences.
