- JLevesque, on 08/26/2008, -0/+7Great work! It's about time. One article I read a woman said "They were being treated like criminals". Duh!
- mattowan, on 08/28/2008, -0/+1That's hilarious.
- surfernerd6987, on 08/26/2008, -0/+7I agree, fix the economy by removing those whose use our benefits, and reap our reality, but refuse to pay for their services.
- BAFrayd, on 08/27/2008, -0/+8A drop in the bucket, but progress nonetheless. THEY ARE CRIMINALS. So is the employer.
- nsvr6, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5I agree they should be hauled out. It's a job that has needed to be done for many many years. BUT, I wonder how many real citizens in the Laurel area have applied and been turned down or refuse to work there because the wages are too low. Does anyone know the unemployment rate for Laurel?
Way to go ICE. Toss the company owner in the county slammer for about 6 months. Also, send the ones with children out as well. Anchor babies my ass!- mb3581, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2I live in Laurel and actually work for the company that was raided (for a different division). I do not have any concrete statistics but it seems like the unemployment rate is fairly low due to several large industries in the area. This has been a long time coming but it was definitely a shock to see the feds great you at your office on Monday morning.
- kigcoopa84, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3Well the people that didn't get arrested seemed to be happy. Applauding the Federal agents as they detained the illegals.
- djdaley, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1I read that the day after the raid there were people lined up outside the plant applying for those jobs. Not saying that there were as many as the close to 600 that they pulled out, but still... And the other tragedy that folks don't always consider is the effects on legitimate businesses that have to compete with these companies that follow these shady practices. How to compete on price when you have to pay competitive wages to legal workers...

- mustangmike53, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4Vaya con Dios, amigos.
- Whippy107, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5I am currently going through LEGAL immigration with my wife and have not seen her in 9 months due to the paperwork and money involved. I have NO sympathy for these scumbags who come here to the United States illegally and then want us to feel sorry for them because they are arrested. It is because of them that my family suffers. Nice to hear about immigration raids. The more press these stories get, the better. I am glad the illegals are scared, they should be.
- FullTimer, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1Jackson Wright in Albuquerque got my son's wife in from Germany on the first try.
- jdmgomoo, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4Its about time we use our existing laws and stop trying to pretend we need new laws to enforce immigration. We don't need a economic slave class for the Republicans and a voting base for the socialistic Democrats. Lets face it legal immigration protects people, illegal immigration, not so much. This is a step in the right direction.
- binaryloop, on 08/27/2008, -0/+5Round 'em up and ship 'em out!
- BECoole, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3WhooHoo!!!
Here's hoping they dish out some justice by jailing the business owners and fining the company into bankruptcy. - kigcoopa84, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3I think it is crazy that even the digg liberals aren't on here expressing sympathy

They don't receive services at all, we pay them below minimum wage to do work that most American's don't want to do such as working in some manufacturing companies, slaughter houses, and we all know about mowing out lawn.
Maybe if Bush stepped up border patrol, this wouldn't be a problem. But as most of you don't know, because you're all idiots, Bush is in favor of an open borders policy, making this continent just like Europe, including a centralized monetary unit called the Amero.

I do have sympathy for the immigrants because in most cases they are smuggled here by the American companies and corporations they work for.
However, I don't have sympathy for the immigrants that don't work here.- texasconnelly, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2They do receive our services. They send their children to our public schools. They show up at hospital ERs when sick or injured.
We pay them below minimum wage to do jobs that aren't economical to do at minumum wage. The problem is that US citizen cannot legally work for less than minimum wage.
Solution: abolish the minimum wage and let US workers compete with these illegals and foreign countries for manufacturing jobs. Illegal immigration will drop to zero.- Hangingtree, on 11/04/2008, -0/+2"They don't receive services at all"
Wha?
Public Schools
Free Healthcare (For Them)
They drive on our roads.
Protection from our Police Forces
My state even allows them to pay reduced tuition to our universities.
these are all services that we have to pay for, they dont. Throw them all out.

- shopfemina, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2Mississippi is one of the poorest states in the Nation. So the excuse that immigrants are doing the work that others won't do does not fly. They are clearly taking jobs that Americans of all creeds would gladly do. The real culprit is the criminal government of Mexico which is doing its own version of ethnic cleansing.
- mcrunch2, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1Mexico needs to fix their economy. They have plenty of resources. They squandered their biggest chance when they first hit pay dirt with oil. Too bad for us all.
And yes, Bush is a dummy when it comes to immigration; the congress is too!

- Hangingtree, on 11/04/2008, -0/+2Buy American!
Pretty sad state of affairs when even buying American made products does not benefit any Americans, except the criminals who employ them. - djdaley, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1I read that the day after the raid there were people lined up outside the plant applying for those jobs. How to compete on price when you have to pay competitive wages to legal workers... So even those that aren't necessarily even available in the local area for those jobs in those plants are being put out of jobs. Good hard working Americans that just want to provide for their families here.
- iowac, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1My question is, why do we need to release them on humanitarian efforst. We certainly do not release drug dealers because they have kids.
That is also to anybody who says they are just trying to better their lives, so are drug dealers and bank robbers, they just trying to better their lives, so we should not arrest them either.- mcrunch2, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1Why not just pack up the kids and bus them out together - keeps the families intact and moves the people to their own country where they are free as citizens to do as they want.
