- hasslinthehoff, on 07/02/2009, -2/+35Iran is a shining example of why separation of state and church is a good thing.
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -1/+14Oh do stop whining, please. Iranians will fix Iran. They are neither weak nor stupid. They do not want or need American help, which would be the kiss of death for any protester.
- Moralogic, on 07/02/2009, -0/+13I demand more Iran News. I hasn't seen hardly anything on this. I am sick of this Jackson ***** when there is more important things happening in this world.
- MeatMountain, on 07/02/2009, -2/+13So the government of Iran is like a Digg Power User?
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -2/+12When people stop interfering?
- TDDebug, on 07/02/2009, -0/+9There are always ways behind filters. If you don't want information out through the Internet you're going to have to just shut it down completely.
- Rammal, on 07/02/2009, -1/+10WTF? Why would you say that?
- crussell96, on 07/02/2009, -4/+13If you think the situation in Iran is the same as in 2000 here in the US then you are dumb.
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -2/+10As soon as we stop interfering.
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -0/+8China has been doing it for years.
- thepeacemaker, on 07/02/2009, -0/+7As bad as Iran is, it is still far better than our close allies like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, etc in terms of providing rights for women, minorities, etc. The best thing US can do for Iranians is leave them alone. Any attempt by the US govt to preach democracy is only coming across as hypocrisy and being a mouth piece for Israel.
- JROXZ, on 07/02/2009, -0/+7Well cracking down on public dissent... They probably got a hold of China's playbook.
Tienamen anyone? - Rammal, on 07/02/2009, -1/+7In my country our religion is also our constitution, which is why we're so screwed.
Pakistan. - Rammal, on 07/02/2009, -6/+11Hey Israeli girl, when are you guys attacking Iran? I can't wait! :)
- pathouston22, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5If you want to read a horrific story about what Iran is doing to its protestors, read this:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/jul/01/iran-p ... - arpad, on 07/02/2009, -3/+8No, Europe is where the state has become the church.
- milkmage, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5yup.. scroll down to Iran
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_availab ... - Rammal, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5Not at all.
- Jade10145, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5Interesting read. Yes the filtering does suck for their internet users, but thank god they have at least some access to broadcasting information. Makes me wonder what this whole situation would be like if it had happened 30 years ago.
- kromix, on 07/02/2009, -0/+4Amen to that, enough of the pedophile, back to Iran, he was just a guy who made good music, he's not the messiah.. Obama is... lol j/k...
- malcolmlo, on 07/02/2009, -1/+5Its a good thing the US doesn't censor our internet usage.
Because if they did... <censored> <censored> <censored> ...and then barry manilow would play thriller on the bagpipes. - sciencelovesyou, on 07/02/2009, -1/+5Hogwash! There's a massive laundry list of reasons that they're the same situation.
For example:
1) Both involved voting.
2) Both involved Presidents.
3) Both involved voters.
4) Both involved voting.
I assure you, the list stretches onward! - xman8, on 07/02/2009, -1/+5"Bush ran unelected for eight years"
Drink much Kool-aid? - esc27, on 07/02/2009, -0/+4One of the most significant things the free people of the world can and should do is develop some sort of open, unblockable communications system. No great firewalls, government control, etc. Nothing to keep individual citizens from revealing the truth hidden in their countries or nearly brain washed citizens from learning the truth about the world. If we want to fix the problems with (for example) Iran and North Korea we need to reach out and communicate not with their corrupt and power hungry leaders, but with their people.
- omega09, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3Yeah, and somehow Coke and a bunch of other US products are sold there even though there are sanctions.
- AROERS, on 07/02/2009, -1/+4And that is not happening here? People rolled over on the retroactive immunity of our own telcos and people are noticing how AT&T's service is 'slow' as well. ...
- PopcornDave, on 07/02/2009, -2/+5Seriously? Digg is the new staging grounds for military strategy?
- c130commnav, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3start distributing copies of Freenet to Iranians
- BossKey, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3Church and state were separated in Iraq...before the American invasion
- Anntink, on 07/02/2009, -2/+5Does anyone seriously think only Iran and China do this? Doesn't it seem a bit strange that during the worldwide financial collapse, there was absolutely no mention on the internet or any website of the fact that practically all of the people responsible for the meltdown were of the same ethnicity? You only THINK you're free.
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3They actually had it better when the center of power was centered around the clerical establishment, but now you're seeing it shift to the IRGC. This is why the security forces are violating the revolutionary constitution with impunity.
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3Australia is following along with China...sadly...(***** Conroy, ***** Labor).
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3There is a difference between Jews and "Jews".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hasidic_Judaism - mahadiga, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2Iran as a nation is confused, prejudiced and sandwiched between SHARIA(Saudi Arabia) and DEMOCRACY.
Rest of the Democratic nations must help Iran enhance its DEMOCRACY. - dremspider, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2Ok.... lets just pretend that you are correct for one moment... If you were, then why on earth would Iran start blocking Internet access? They are only capable of blocking their own people from visiting these sites, but if their own people aren't doing anything, what have they accomplished. I swear some people really don't think.
- AtomicTheory, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2Care to elaborate?
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2In my religion I am any state I want to be.

- skipvt, on 07/02/2009, -1/+2Sorry, they can't get their ***** together until after the apocalypse, it's ordained you know...
- SirCharge, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1Yes, because the media usually starts blaming our racial minorities whenever there's a crisis. You're an idiot.
- ArchangelZLT, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1@SirChange:
Good luck claiming something invented before the US was born.
John Locke. - inactive, on 07/02/2009, -3/+3Am I the only one who hesitated as he was digging this because it was submitted by "Israeligirl"?
She's been really pro-attacking Iran and pro-attacking Palestinians in the past and I cannot help but feel she's submitting this for less-than-noble reasons. - inactive, on 07/02/2009, -3/+3When the ***** did I ever say this?
Digg is viewed by alot of people and can be used for propaganda purposes. The Jerusalem Post even mentioned how important Digg was for spreading "Israel's message".
Also, Israeligirl played a major role in creating the Megaphone and other internet tools aimed at aiding in Israeli Foreign Ministry's "Hasbarah" media campaign.
So, excuse me if I start doubting her motives... - SirCharge, on 07/03/2009, -1/+1"in my country our constitution does not allow the church (religion) to be mixed with the state.
Europe"
Wow. Your country must have been very proud of itself when it came up with that very clever and extremely original idea.
The US. - SirCharge, on 07/03/2009, -1/+1Even if her goal is to cause the downfall of the current Iranian regime, isn't that noble?
- SirCharge, on 07/03/2009, -1/+1Barry manilow would make a fantastic zombie.
In fact, just to be safe, someone should probably shoot him in the head. - AtomicTheory, on 07/02/2009, -2/+1lose

What is Digg?
