- frozenpxl, on 10/29/2007, -19/+304When I read the article title, I thought to myself, "There's no way this is about the Chargers..."
- Pic0, on 10/29/2007, -13/+290WHY ARE THOSE MEN RIDING THEIR HORSES IN A TIME OF EMERGENCY!
- livingwater, on 10/29/2007, -14/+264George Bush doesn't care about white people.
- PabloIV, on 10/29/2007, -7/+221It's interesting how the fires just stop at the border. Looks like Mexico really has their fire-fighting down.
- thentro, on 10/29/2007, -8/+202It looks like sim city. Next up, alien attack..
- macaddct1984, on 11/02/2007, -2/+158It's because we have such effective borders.
- sgtpppr, on 10/29/2007, -3/+134Unbelievable. I live in the del mar area and we evacuated to Orange County yesterday afternoon. We came back home tonight since things had somewhat settled, but I'm staying up to monitor the situation.
- RichLatherX23, on 10/26/2007, -3/+129"English, *****! Do you speak it?"
- ToolArmy, on 10/25/2007, -0/+110Hopefully the mayor knows the cheat code for unlimited money.
- Kaminky, on 10/29/2007, -4/+112While clouds of smoke darken the California coast, one thing should be kept in mind.
We didn't start the fire... - topiKal, on 10/29/2007, -6/+110Looks like even wildfire doesn't want to live in Mexico.
- markperia, on 10/25/2007, -1/+79Oh God I laughed so hard on that one.
Beer in hell sometime? - VeryBoredNow, on 10/29/2007, -8/+84too bad you don't own anything better than a 333MHz E-Machine
- Mossman85, on 10/25/2007, -3/+75A massive army of T-1000's are trying to take down the disguised governor model t-101. This is only the beginning.
- Goobernutz, on 10/25/2007, -6/+76So, has Pat Robertson blamed all the gays living in San Fran yet? Maybe God has bad aim?
- phenom2k7, on 10/25/2007, -1/+66He just quit his job as a fireman.
- murf43143, on 10/29/2007, -5/+69Good luck to everyone there. Hope the best,
I know there is one confirmed fatality which is far better than expected I assume. - Nougat, on 10/29/2007, -11/+75There's just nothing left to burn there.
(I kid, I kid.) - bonzomcgrue, on 10/25/2007, -0/+50Held up at customs.
- inactive, on 10/25/2007, -1/+51It was always burning since the world was turning.
- toconnor, on 10/25/2007, -1/+50They are the four horseman of the apocalypse.
- heiroglyph, on 10/29/2007, -3/+51I'd also like to know why this happens so often.
This doesn't happen everywhere, but California just seems to burn to the ground every year. - GOVStooge, on 10/29/2007, -1/+48I live in San Diego and I endorse this message.
- Acksull, on 10/25/2007, -0/+46Satellite photos
http://rapidfire.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/gallery/ - opethlike, on 10/25/2007, -2/+45Apples and Oranges. And California has always had this problem, so I think they were a little more prepared.
- RxDaniel, on 10/29/2007, -24/+66The fire just knows there is nothing in Mexico worth burning.
- withincontext, on 10/25/2007, -3/+45Why is that *ironic*?
- bonzomcgrue, on 10/25/2007, -1/+43http://sandiegozoo.org/wpmu/fire/
They evacuated the critically endangered species. I'm sure the "unendangered" animals now feel that's a misnomer. - MrSpontaneous, on 10/25/2007, -6/+48Because the president has been cutting park service money left and right in an attempt to sell federal lands to private interests.
Environmentalists understand the need for controlled burns to keep the forest healthy. Not only does it reduce the chances of wildfires such as this, it leaves charcoal which is great for the soil. - Rince, on 10/25/2007, -1/+41Strange how, according to Google Maps, the fire stops exactly on the border. A fire that respects international law... now that's a first..
- Fluffiness, on 10/29/2007, -1/+40Wildfires. They're pretty common in the West.
- GOVStooge, on 10/25/2007, -3/+42A wildfire that takes several days to move through a county is a far cry from a Hurricane that wipes out a city that sits BELOW sea level overnight
- ravexx, on 10/29/2007, -3/+39It's very sad to see anybody lose everything they have, no matter where it is. I hope they get control of the fires soon.
- w00tfest99, on 10/29/2007, -1/+34There's just so much wrong with that post I don't even know where to begin. I really hope you just forgot your tag.
- PawFox, on 10/29/2007, -1/+34May I ask on how theese fire happened? Seeing i'm international the news sucks for coverage and all I know that fires have started in several parts
- vofuse, on 10/25/2007, -2/+35Even massive, out-of-control wildfires are scared to go to Tijuana.
- ambrosious, on 10/25/2007, -1/+33Actually it has little to do with (good) environmentalists. They are actually the ones that call for burnings. The problem is that housing development is growing at such a rapid rate that most small "natural" fires are put out with incredible speed and the brush is allowed to grow to unmanagable levels in these extra-suburban areas. Then when high temperatures combine with very high santa ana winds, the entire county goes up like a tinder box. Same thing happened near lake tahoe.

It is simply the interjection of homes into this ecosystem that naturally burns every couple of years. - sUGArDawg, on 10/24/2007, -9/+40That's 2 words you ***** moron
- Stormwulf, on 10/25/2007, -1/+30Actually, Mexican firemen have been dispatched to help control the fire near the border
- skim1420, on 10/25/2007, -1/+30Ryan started the fire.
- IEatHamburgers, on 10/25/2007, -2/+30I can see Carlos Mencia saying "George Bush doesn't care about beaners" just to get a cheap laugh out of the situation
- tizz66, on 10/25/2007, -0/+27Duh, that green horse is patrolling the border and stopping the fire.
- Jurzeyfresh, on 10/24/2007, -2/+28I thought it was funny, thanks for the honest laugh in these terrible times.
- pyschoy2k, on 10/25/2007, -0/+26did everyone see the news reporter that was actually doing a report in front of his burning house?
- roland, on 10/29/2007, -3/+28Yes, who knows how many tons of carbon dioxide are being released from this fire! BAN ALL TREES!!! THEY ARE CAUSING GLOBAL WARMING!
- krebcycle, on 11/02/2007, -1/+26Hollywood isn't in San Diego idiot.
- dcbebop, on 10/25/2007, -0/+25Hope everyone gets out OK. This sucks, San Diego is one of my fav cities.
- PinkTacoDigger, on 10/28/2007, -3/+25Seriously,
http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20070402/n ...
Just throwing that out there. - toconnor, on 10/25/2007, -3/+22I agree on the apples/oranges since the amount of time it takes for a wildfire to develop versus a flood is very different. However New Orleans has always had the below sea level problem. They just weren't prepared.
