- inactive, on 12/29/2008, -7/+22Sarah Palin? Historically stupid.
- vats, on 12/29/2008, -4/+18This is a good list, which also includes: Henry Paulson, Sarah Palin, Michael Phelps, and T Boone Pickens. Obama is in fact the first choice. He is going to make the history in the coming year too.
- inactive, on 12/29/2008, -6/+19Bush made more history this year, but if its quality history that counts...I think Obama has the upper hand
- doublefelix, on 12/29/2008, -4/+13No one else should have even been close.
- aserer511, on 12/29/2008, -2/+10palin deserves nearly as much recognition as obama, as she broke through to the center stage from small town Wasilla. not saying she is as important, but she exceeded probably most alaskans' expectations of her ability to get onto the american stage. she IS a moron, ofcourse, but...
- Kriegskamerad, on 12/29/2008, -1/+9American History makers of 2008.
- Frixionburne, on 12/29/2008, -4/+11Please never put Obama in the same column as the founding fathers. There is a difference between actually fighting for a country and saying that you're fighting for a country.
- inactive, on 12/29/2008, -2/+9Where's Miley Cyrus?
- pathouston22, on 12/29/2008, -0/+6Wow, there are 3 versions of Obama that topped the history maker list.
1 picture would of gotten the point across instead of forcing me to click 3 more times to find out who's next on the list. - slundal, on 12/29/2008, -1/+7Someone should add "from the USA" in that headline.
- xtal3, on 12/29/2008, -1/+6Where's Putin?
- markmdillon, on 12/29/2008, -2/+7@Spooky
Has Obama done anything (aside from being the first half black president) so far worth remembering? Essentially all he had to do to get elected is convince Americans that he was the opposite of Bush. Not exactly the most difficult thing to do when all of the MSM already hates Bush anyway. I hope you're right, but it's yet to be determined if he will now actually improve our country in any significant manner. I'm proud that this country elected a black president, but his being black isn't really his accomplishment any more than my being white is mine.
At this point Obama can't hold a candle to our founding fathers. The comparison is laughable. - UnpossibIe, on 12/29/2008, -3/+7In some cases that would be true, but in this case I disagree. When you listen to Obama speak, and he pauses with an "uh" it shows that he's actively thinking and forming what he's going to say, instead of just spouting out without thinking. Two examples of this would be Sarah Palin and George Bush, who speak fluidly and end up with pure ***** coming out of their mouths.
- mark925, on 12/29/2008, -4/+8Putting Sarah Palin on that list shows that someone has a sense of humor.
- kamakazitp, on 12/29/2008, -0/+3T-Boone would lead a crusade to eat puppies if he knew it would make him billions.
- inactive, on 12/29/2008, -3/+6Obama puts too many "uhs" in between words when he talks. It makes him sound like he's uncertain of what he's trying to say. He sounds weak and ineffectual.
- tumoas, on 12/29/2008, -2/+5Everyone on that list is American. No one except Americans made history in 2008?
- BradOFarrell, on 12/29/2008, -3/+6She made history by being SUCH an undesirable candidate that America forgot it was racist for a few days.
- sbcea, on 12/29/2008, -5/+8I love T. Boone Pickens and his crusade to find oil alternatives. Glad to see he made this list.
- Izzmo, on 12/29/2008, -2/+5I think it's funny how they use just politicians AND how there is nothing from the first 3 quarters of 2008.
A year isn't just 3 months. - artfiend77, on 12/29/2008, -1/+4OK, so, let me get this straight. Not only are there SEVEN people who made history this year apparently, but three of them are Obama?
- borez, on 12/29/2008, -2/+5He's black, and an ELECTED black at that. what a WIN for HIM, and for AMERICA just when it's NEEDED
- fictionalOne, on 12/29/2008, -1/+3Where's Madoff?
- Tzen, on 12/29/2008, -0/+2I'm waiting for the Google Ebonics translator.
- teessidedazza, on 12/29/2008, -2/+4History makers of 2008? Yeah, with the people mentioned it appeared nothing happened outside the USA . Perhaps I should do a global history makers article?(Phelps and Obama are definitely in a world list)
- borez, on 12/29/2008, -7/+9Don't you have to make some history to be a history maker? Obama hasn't actually done anything yet.
Unless we're talking about him being the first black president, and if so then that's just a pathetic racist refection of our sad pigeon holed society. - aufte, on 12/29/2008, -2/+4Am I the only one who thinks of the situation like so: what's coming in 2009 that's going to be so terrible, the Republicans want nothing to do with it, and to be sure they'll have nothing to do with it, they ran two clowns against Obama?
- ChonoonFiend, on 12/29/2008, -9/+11Obama at the top, what a surprise. I think none of them should have been on this list, but that's just me.
Now the massive amounts of Obama supporters will bury me.
PS: Michael Phelps is a douchebag. - trollick, on 12/29/2008, -0/+2And Miley Cyrus does not care about India!
- CoD4, on 12/29/2008, -0/+2yeah, they only give a ***** about important issues dealing with sharuk khan and raani
- xtal3, on 12/29/2008, -2/+4It's tough to make a name for yourself when you're playing within the system that was established. Obama could be an FDR at most, how is that different from what SpookyPig said?
- ChonoonFiend, on 12/29/2008, -3/+5Why does everyone ignore the fact that he is also Half-White? Hes only a half-step to being teh first TRUE African-American president.
- inactive, on 12/29/2008, -1/+3Also note my usage of the word "many". Obama will never be a Washington or Madison, but I think he's probably going to get a bit more mention than David Brearly.
- bmson, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2What about...
- Shimon Peres (president of Israel)
- Hu Jintao (Paramount Leader of China)
- Fidel Castro (Former Cuban leader)
But Obama and Michael Phelps deserve to be on that list - Tzen, on 12/29/2008, -2/+4Buried for NoBama^^
- JK1150, on 12/29/2008, -1/+3Sarah Palin!
- Bartboy919, on 12/30/2008, -1/+2O'Bama's the name!
Bein the 44th president is mah game! - TooMuchPizza, on 12/29/2008, -4/+5Change!
Yes We Can - BuryBrigade08, on 12/30/2008, -3/+4You must have received a public education. Putting Obama along side JFK or MLK is a disgrace to those great men. Stop worshiping Obama.
- jjbadboy, on 12/30/2008, -2/+3well he is black, which is pretty historic considering this is america. what's palin making history for? Worst vpresident candidate ever?
- cloudeh, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1OMFG - Huge error detected!
They forgot Rick Astley! =( - asiarock, on 12/30/2008, -0/+1My thoughts exactly. But what would you expect from a country that boasts a "world series" featuring only North American teams?
- Tzen, on 12/29/2008, -1/+2So is Joe Mama.
- Tzen, on 12/29/2008, -2/+3The Nazi was a change too.
- apostledeets, on 12/30/2008, -1/+2SHE didn't really do anything. She was just handpicked by the McCain administration as a gimmick to try to deflect the gimmick of Obama's black candidacy. Palin was nothing more then a pawn, a very ignorant pawn at that. Both campaigns were nothing but gimmicks, be it race, age, or gender. I'll hold any judgments on the president elect until he has a chance to prove himself either way. All we truly know about him so far is he has good speech writers on the payroll. No doubt he will bring change... I just hope it's the change that he hyped up his during his entire campaign, but I fear it will be the "change" that this country has been heading towards the past 8 years....
- hmunkey, on 12/30/2008, -1/+2He won one of the hardest elections and recieved the highest amount of donations and highest voter count in US history.
He is inheriting two wars and a worldwide recession.
He kinda deserves to be on the list. - HeavyMetalPat, on 12/30/2008, -1/+2Obama didn't make history himself alone. The American voters voiced their opinion and made history by putting him in Office.
Do us all a favor and stop talking about sub par candidates. The election is dead and gone. Lets move on with America.(at least for the next 4 years)
american voters FTW! - whatthefu, on 12/30/2008, -0/+1Obviously it isn't "quality history" because Sarah Palin is on the list.
- alabamasucks, on 12/30/2008, -2/+3What has he done? Won an election. This isn't a anti-Obama post just a anti-Obama band wagon post. How about somebody who made advancements in medicane or technology? Samuel Bodman is the Secretary of Energy who headed the US into being #1 country in renewable energy!
