- jman491, on 10/12/2009, -17/+502I'm sure the citizens will be glowing with pride.
- jtens, on 10/13/2009, -12/+367If they don't get it, I'll bet there's gonna be major fallout.
- EnTaroTassadar, on 10/13/2009, -10/+255I did not read the article. Dugg solely for the description.
- Foxprowl, on 10/12/2009, -4/+243I don't think you have to worry about those types of jokes. I think it'll be a blast.
- SooperSonic, on 10/12/2009, -8/+247This is actually a cool idea. I hope Hiroshima & Nagasaki get the games - unless it results in a massive launch of atomic bomb jokes for the next 11 years.
- mike648, on 10/13/2009, -20/+251The U.S. bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki killing thousands of citizens, and we somehow think it's OK to drop puns and explode into laughter.
- SexyGeekGirl, on 10/13/2009, -17/+214dugg for funny description
- ChromaVita, on 10/13/2009, -6/+179I'm all for it as long as the mascots are a fat man and a little boy.

wow that was bad. - bmson, on 10/13/2009, -9/+150Let's turn it around...
Q: What does WTC stand for?
A: What Trade Centre?
Tasteless and unconsidered. - TheNik, on 10/13/2009, -3/+142Q: When does a pentagon have four sides?
A: When it intersects a plane. - boogerthecat, on 10/13/2009, -17/+133I'm sick of the Japanese being portrayed as the victims in WWII. Imperial Japan was one of the most aggressive regimes in history- PERIOD. They initiated the war- Germany and Italy declared war against the US the day after Japan's attack and incidental declaration of war. As the Imperial Japanese prosecuted the war, they participated in war crimes that would make a nazi blush.
Japan attacked the United States because the US embargoed oil sales to Japan because of their ongoing war in China and the hideous cost in human life that it was causing. (see The Rising Sun in the Pacific by Samuel Eliot Morrison)
While you are crying over Hiroshima and Nagasaki, check out the Batan Death March. While you are at it, check out the actions of Unit 731 and the appalling atrocities against civilians by the Japanese in China, Korea, the Philippines, the Marianas Islands, Java, Malaysia, Burma, Thailand, Borneo and Micronesia.
The Japanese killed a hell of a lot more people than both of the bombs put together. They may have killed over a million alone in slave labor activities in their occupied territories- many of those were Korean, Chinese, American, British, Dutch and Austrialian POWS and civilians caught behind the lines when the war started.
The bombs put an end to the war and prevented an invasion of Japan proper which would have been REAL genocide. - Terwa, on 10/13/2009, -6/+116The U.S. dropped nuclear bombs at those two locations.

- theCoffee, on 10/13/2009, -17/+112Haha! Its funny cause people died there.
- DanteShamest, on 10/13/2009, -4/+87It'll be a fusion of history and a modern day event.

- J0hnnyBlaze, on 10/13/2009, -3/+79weather is expected to be cloudy with a chance of mushroom
- opticwind, on 10/13/2009, -4/+79No, no, no, I REALLY hope this doesn't work. Every time these 2 cities get discussed, it boils down to the exact same argument we've had for decades.
1. The bombings were wrong!
2. They saved millions of lives, ultimately.
1. Yeah, American lives.
2. Japanese people would have fought to the last of it.
1. At least then they'd have a chance. The A-Bomb just killed innocent people.
3. Japan killed lots of innocent people in Manchuria, Nanking, and various areas of China.
2. YEAH.
1. That's irrelevant to whether or not the nuclear bombing was ethi-
2/3. No it's not!
And so on. - MAGZine, on 10/13/2009, -0/+73Thanks, Captain.
- anonymousmedic, on 10/13/2009, -4/+77This thread is such a Bohr.

- anthropodeus, on 10/13/2009, -0/+45yeah the jokes were confusing me a bit there. thanks, bro.
- blorc, on 10/13/2009, -2/+44Giving a ***** about whether or not it was right or wrong is what actually determines whether or not it might happen again, not sitting around hoping it doesn't.
- LiLBiGD1Ck, on 10/13/2009, -1/+42http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_war_crimes
"It may be pointless to try to establish which World War Two Axis aggressor, Germany or Japan, was the more brutal to the peoples it victimised. The Germans killed six million Jews and 20 million Russians [i.e. Soviet citizens]; the Japanese slaughtered as many as 30 million Filipinos, Malays, Vietnamese, Cambodians, Indonesians and Burmese, at least 23 million of them ethnic Chinese. Both nations looted the countries they conquered on a monumental scale, though Japan plundered more, over a longer period, than the Nazis. Both conquerors enslaved millions and exploited them as forced labourers—and, in the case of the Japanese, as [forced] prostitutes for front-line troops. If you were a Nazi prisoner of war from Britain, America, Australia, New Zealand or Canada (but not Russia) you faced a 4% chance of not surviving the war; [by comparison] the death rate for Allied POWs held by the Japanese was nearly 30%" - jman583, on 10/13/2009, -3/+41Hiroshima and Nagasaki might win if they together reach critical mass.
