- Identity4, on 01/24/2008, -0/+34Nah..this is more like the story of the foolish cult wandering into the lair of a sleeping bear and poking it...only its not actually a bear, but the hairy bear-shaped wart on the face a 40 story tall kill hungry fanged superbeast with laserbeam eyes and machinegun fingers...
- slvrbullet87, on 01/24/2008, -0/+4Now that is a comment glowing with white hot awsomeness

- CRABBATTLE, on 01/24/2008, -81/+3ALL OF YOU JUST STOP. EVERY PERSON SPOUTING MEMES IN THIS LIKE THEY THINK THEY'RE REALLY COOL? NEWFAGS. ALL OF THEM. NO ONE WANTS A DIGG STORY ON ANONYMOUS. SAYING "WE ARE LEGION" ISN'T COOL. THERE IS NO "WE." THERE IS ONE COLLECTIVE. SO SHUT UP, AND BURY THIS.
- themarq, on 01/24/2008, -0/+24So you're either a Scientoligist or a humorless tightass. Either way no wants to hear what you have to say.
- HentaiJeff, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Same thing right?

- emjaymj, on 01/24/2008, -0/+9You complain about the mindless repetition of tired memes and yet you drop the word "newfags." You are no different than any of the people you're whining about.
- Ghiren, on 01/24/2008, -0/+9Caps-lock may be cruise control for cool, but you still have to steer. I think that your cool just veered off-road into a ditch.
- AntzNZ, on 01/24/2008, -0/+12I SUGGEST YOU JUST GTFO PLEASE.
- DarkPhoen1x, on 01/24/2008, -0/+8How about you shut up and we bury you instead? That sounds like fun.

- drjones78, on 01/24/2008, -28/+3Another stupid wanna be hacker group with delusions of grandeur. Yawn.
I'm all for destroying scientology, but this just reminds me of Kimble and his ridiculous YIHAT (Young Intelligent Hackers Against Terrorism) brigade. Like monkeys throwing ***** at the zoo.- bagboyrebel, on 01/24/2008, -0/+13Don't know who anonymous is? Lucky bastard.
- drjones78, on 01/24/2008, -13/+2Probably another little anti-social computer "hacker" group, who's stringent trials to become an elite "hacker" in its ranks, include mediocre photoshop skills, downloading lots of warez, knowing what FXP is, and knowing that DDOS isnt just a typo of MS-DOS. Oh yea, and someone who kinda knows IRC.... if they are really good, they might even use BitchX.
- CATSCEO, on 01/24/2008, -0/+8My god you're stupid.
- drjones78, on 01/24/2008, -6/+4@catsceo
You're right, I better not cross them. They could steal my myspace password and put up some lolcat pictures i disapprove of!!!11
epic lulz! - slvrbullet87, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2OMGZ THAYS COULD HaXoR MY COMPZ OH NOES!!!1!1&^2!!!!
- drjones78, on 01/24/2008, -7/+1Stolen from another blog.... its about right on the money.
"First of all, the anonymous are not any kind of confederation or gang. Please don't fall for the Fauz News hype. It's a bunch of e-tards sitting in their parents' basements who see a post on a chan board and decide to join in on a trvial and stupid set of childish antics to annoy and harass a target.
Secondly, the only reason they all identify as anonymous is because that's the default name for people who don't care to leave a name. It's not an organization of any sort. It's a mob of morons doing something stupid because they don't have anything productive to occupy their time.
Thrid, they aren't hackers. They're script kiddies at best. The last attack on a site I frequent was thwarted by the efforts of all of three people, lasted 15 minutes, and managed to not even come close to disrupting service. Childish pranks do not a hacker make.
Anonymous are trolls, nothing more. They'll never amount to anything mroe than a pathetic bunch of losers slowly eating themselves to death in front of their computers. The only things that makes them dangeorus is feeding them by making them think they've actually bothered you."- bagboyrebel, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1the problem is that they have numbers, and it seems like they are taking over digg.
- Ghiren, on 01/24/2008, -0/+8If "hackers" are a well organized strategy, then this attack is more like a Zerg rush... mindless hordes overwhelming their target through sheer numbers.
Make some popcorn, it's gonna be fun to see how this plays out.- LordFuxxles, on 01/24/2008, -0/+4FOR THE HORDE

- garyman99, on 01/24/2008, -0/+4I want to follow you and your anonymous group in a war on dangerous cults. But your name is "poohat1000" for god's sake. I mean, can you change it to something a little more witty. Perhaps "hubbardh8r" or "XanusRevenge"? You cannot spread fear in an organization as large as Scientology using "poohat1000"!
- diggitydoc, on 01/24/2008, -0/+3thats xenu, not xanu.... get your imaginary being right!

- MrSunshine, on 01/24/2008, -3/+1http://kriegchan.org/i/ and http://raid.partyvan.info/ also constantly incite to harass harmless people, so neither support Scientolology, nor the hackers relating to "Anonymous", so report these websites to the authorities.
- aliengoods, on 01/24/2008, -4/+53This is stunning news! I'm surprised this hasn't been posted on Digg before.
- zanyjim, on 01/24/2008, -3/+314No one should pay for a "religion"
- Qumahlin, on 01/24/2008, -41/+12Better inform the catholics ASAP maybe anon can dismantle them too if thats all they base their attacks on.
- Branbot, on 01/24/2008, -1/+57I'm a recovering Catholic, heh, As much as I dislike the Catholic Church, they dont DEMAND you sign a contract giving all your money and belongings to their cause. When the Catholic Church goes to a third world country they provide food and a bible. When Scientology goes to a third world country they wave food in front of you and force you to sign a contract for it. I may not like organized religion but it has done good in this world along with the bad but Catholicism should never be compared to those Scientology sick ***** that run a sad excuse for what they call a religion.
- justthoughts, on 01/24/2008, -23/+11Believe me we all pay for religion, some not monetary. The sad thing about it is that religion has always been the tabloid throughout history and will continue to do so to whomever doesn't feel that they are a human being without it. Who can say that one religion is worse than the other? They all have their flaws and valid points. The sad thing about it is that even if we don't practice our faith in a particular religion we all pray to the almighty dollar.
- bratterscain, on 01/24/2008, -7/+7You're proof diggers don't give a ***** about truth. They bury not the ones that tell it like it is, but how they want it to be.
- darrenpauli, on 01/24/2008, -2/+2Fence-sitters get buried. Don't bring a sword to a gun fight.
- slvrbullet87, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1but but but My name is Cloud i can get away with it!
- jclassracer, on 01/24/2008, -7/+2...unless they want to. or.. if they are too stupid not too.
- jemka, on 01/24/2008, -3/+7Yes they should. They should also pay for bridges. And luckily I'm having a sale on both. Get your orders in ASAP. Quantities are limited.
- zaren, on 01/24/2008, -2/+7Except for the Church of the Subgenius! They're the only ones up-front enough to TELL YOU they're in it for the bucks! They're the world's only self-declared FOR-PROFIT religion! So rise up, my Yeti brothers and sisters! Repent! Quit your job! Slack off! And praise "Bob"! EYIYIYIYIYIYIY

- PhantomPhoenix, on 01/24/2008, -1/+4People should listen to the wisdom of Luther once again. He spoke out against Catholic 'Indulgences' and if he were alive today he would speak out against Scientology.
- Dwebtron, on 01/24/2008, -1/+1lutherins gimme a wah-wah!
- PhantomPhoenix, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1Ummm...
I'm not Lutheran; just to make that clear. I'm in fact Pagan, but that doesn't stop me from respecting great thinkers.- diggitydoc, on 01/24/2008, -1/+1watch oot for thee faerie goddesses, they singeth for ye death....
pagans, FTW
- diggitydoc, on 01/24/2008, -1/+1watch oot for thee faerie goddesses, they singeth for ye death....
- PhantomPhoenix, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1Ummm...
- skyfire1, on 01/24/2008, -0/+3Luther suppressed advancements in science. He was not a hero.
- PhantomPhoenix, on 01/24/2008, -1/+5Yes...but he basically started the Protestant Reformation which caused the Church to reform and loosen its grip which lead to the Renaissance.
- UNCCEJ1010, on 01/24/2008, -1/+1Well, not exactly. The Reformation began in 1517, but the Italian Renaissance is generally considered to have began in the 1400s.
- PhantomPhoenix, on 01/24/2008, -1/+5Yes...but he basically started the Protestant Reformation which caused the Church to reform and loosen its grip which lead to the Renaissance.
- Dwebtron, on 01/24/2008, -1/+1lutherins gimme a wah-wah!
- HypocriteDigg, on 01/24/2008, -16/+1Name one western religion that doesn't want money from its members. You ignorant dumbass diggiot.
- vincekiessling, on 01/24/2008, -0/+7But it isn't a requirement to be a member of the religion. There is a difference you stupid *****, see i can call people names too.
- LilJimmyNordin, on 01/24/2008, -0/+7The Church of Scientology is the only religion in the world that requires payment for advancement and religious guidance. Before you decide to call someone names (particularly 'ignorant'), you should do a little bit of research. For now, you FAIL. Go become an hero.
- FrankieAngels, on 01/24/2008, -2/+2I agree zanyjim's sentiment, but unfortunately we all pay for religion in one way or another and the price is not always a financial one. Billlions of people have been killed over the years in the name of religion.
- Picaroon, on 01/24/2008, -3/+1*have to pay
- UNCCEJ1010, on 01/24/2008, -0/+7Knowledge is Free.
- diadem2, on 01/24/2008, -7/+0If you are an organized religion, it's necessary, Scientology or not.
You need to pay for staff, upkeep of the buildings, and equipment. Not to mention charity too if your organization has soup kitchens or whatever. I understand your qualm with overcharging to get to heaven, but in a capitalist society you need some source of income to maintain something large like an organized religion. Suckering people out of a lot of money to in the name of a religion is wrong, but charging a fee to keep an orginization going that poeple are voluntary members of isn't.
Please not that this responce isn't in regards to Scientology spacificly, just religion in general. - bearsandbulls, on 01/24/2008, -0/+6" We can help you. Oh you're poor, nevermind."
- KraftDinner101, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1I can understand that, but that I don't get is why those hackers aren't going after sick people like the WBC. Who cares is Scientology is taking millionaire actor's money?
- Orion682, on 01/24/2008, -0/+4It's a matter of scale. The WBC is a ***** organization, I agree, but they're virtually nothing on the larger scale. Scientology isn't just taking actor's money, normal people who fall into it often lose their money, their homes, their jobs, and are left destitute afterward. There are even allegations of abuse and criminal negligence toward members which have lead to their deaths.
- Qumahlin, on 01/24/2008, -41/+12Better inform the catholics ASAP maybe anon can dismantle them too if thats all they base their attacks on.
- bctrainers, on 01/24/2008, -4/+213Dugg for great justice!
- KamikazeeDriver, on 01/24/2008, -0/+7Amen. I will support this group anyway I can, in this endeavor.
- Crath, on 01/24/2008, -7/+1Buried for old/duplicate.
http://digg.com/world_news/Message_to_Scientology
This was top 10 only 2 days ago, why did everybody forget? - GamerX, on 01/24/2008, -1/+2Take off every zig!
- biotch, on 01/24/2008, -0/+5Absolutely. Scientologists threaten challengers to their cult by publicizing their personal secrets. So Anon has given them a taste of their own medicine. And the best part is, their "fair game" tactics dont work against someone they cant find hahahah
Their willingness to drop 5Gs on anyone who turns in Anon is evidence of how much that pisses them off.- Orion682, on 01/24/2008, -0/+5I just love how that threat missed the point entirely. Anonymous is not an individual, it is not a set group, that is why it is Anonymous.
- dtd00d, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1Anonymous, wherever and whoever you are, thanks in advance.
- fogus, on 01/24/2008, -6/+189Lets do it. Cults are wrong.
- psygnisfive, on 01/24/2008, -0/+8Shh, don't call them a cult, they might declare you fair play.
- jpt62089, on 01/24/2008, -0/+8I'm pretty sure everyone on digg now has a "100 page PDF" on them filed somewhere at a Scientology HQ.
- moofer, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1Johnny?
- corneliusJones, on 01/24/2008, -2/+1Seriously, who the ***** cares?
- BobOki, on 01/24/2008, -1/+2The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you life forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity becuase a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree... not too far away from being every bit as ridiculous as a alien god named Xenu.
- DYNAMICENTRYYY, on 01/24/2008, -2/+0 Before I saw the replies I knew some retard was going to drag other religions into this. Can't ever miss an opportunity! Jackass.
- BobOki, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2Why yes, if you condemn one becuase its "crazy" then you should condemn all the "crazy" ones. Jackass.
- wallcloud111, on 01/24/2008, -1/+0as gay as scientology is, don't you think the people who are suckered into it deserve to be?? i don't think anyone should really care about them, the more we pay attention to them the dumber people seem to get WILL SMITH
- doktorzee, on 01/24/2008, -1/+2A cult is just a religious group with a smaller following. Christians were once a cult, and now a worldwide religious institution with too much power. Not that I support Scientology, cults, or any religion for that matter.
- rebotfc, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1You have no idea what a cult is then. Do some research or GTFO.
- psygnisfive, on 01/24/2008, -0/+8Shh, don't call them a cult, they might declare you fair play.
- Huxl3y, on 01/24/2008, -49/+36Head over to http://partyvan.info if you want to join
- JoshuaH, on 01/24/2008, -0/+3Yeah, That's the correct link to this project's wiki. It's temporarily redirected to EBAUMSWORLD from time to time, as they're the ones responsible.
- crazybugger, on 01/24/2008, -0/+5The link is not a spam!
- d00ter, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Then give it the thumbs up.
- blizzok, on 01/24/2008, -0/+109It's amazing how quickly this video has spread. Just a few days ago I saw it in our main IRC channel, and I didn't think much of it. Now it's the number one result on youtub in a search for Scientology, and all over Digg. Good job, men. Good job.
- aukxsona, on 01/24/2008, -0/+3shock and awe man...shock and awe.....

- prophetpimp, on 01/24/2008, -2/+1dogs wont do *****. they need Curtain 2.0.
- Gudlyf, on 01/24/2008, -0/+9Or bees?! Or dogs with bees in their mouth so that when they bark they shoot bees at you?!
- Nekiruhs, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1Dogs don't pose a threat. Now Lions, damn those ***** lions.
- AzureRise, on 01/24/2008, -6/+1They're hackers, not sport's athletes.
- dragonrice, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2...
- Orion682, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1Exactly. That's why they're more important ;)
- Digger1218, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1Well, they did pervert LOL
- kilworth, on 01/24/2008, -1/+1Every time I read something about "Anonymous" I wonder if I'm stupid or if all the news-writers are and digger just play along..
Isn't "Anonymous" just the standard nickname at 4chan and the whole "Hackergroup" are just some spammers at 4chan?
Please correct me if I'm wrong..- CaptainCumshot, on 01/25/2008, -0/+0Anonymous is the standard name on most image boards, not just 4chan. 711chan is like the Jinx forums for image-board goers.
- d0onut, on 01/24/2008, -0/+18Oh God... What if Scientologists get dogs?!
- perhapsimcrazy, on 01/24/2008, -1/+86Crush them.
- mistergoodburge, on 01/24/2008, -62/+5Don't get me wrong I think they are retards, but they have the right to believe in whatever they want its a free country these geeks should waste their time trying to cure cancer or hacking fox news....
- Ghiren, on 01/24/2008, -0/+7So.... retards vs. /b/tards?
- biotch, on 01/24/2008, -0/+6I agree. But they aggressively threaten any dissenters including those who just merely question it. They skate on thin ice right up to the edge of breaking personal privacy rights. Do that long enough, eventually the ice cracks and people get fed up. People should be free to question a religion without being declared "fair game" as they put it. Anything that threatens free thinking individuals needs to be thwarted. Thus Scientology must be neutralized.
- BobOki, on 01/24/2008, -1/+1Try questioning Christianity sometime..... you have not SEEN fair game yet.
- Mohdoo, on 01/24/2008, -2/+242You can't sue Anon. You can't see Anon. You can't touch Anon. But you feel the pain of Anon.
- PhantomPhoenix, on 01/24/2008, -1/+15Deep...
- CaptainCumshot, on 01/25/2008, -0/+0The greatest thing about all this ***** is that many of them are using other peoples' boxes to do the DDoS attacks, therefor, whomever they decide to trace it to, they'll have a hard time proving it was that person. ^-^
- ktxxx, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1Thats what a DDoS is... using hundreds, if not thousands of zombie computers to packet flood the server.
- Zavaro, on 01/24/2008, -3/+86Blinds and guard dogs can't save you now.
EXPLODING VAN!- PhantomPhoenix, on 01/24/2008, -1/+9That would be pure terror. I don't think Anon wants to destroy physical property or peoples lives - they want to save people from this cult.
- AzureRise, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1I say we destroy Tom Cruise and others like him.
- Mekanikles, on 01/24/2008, -0/+0"They" don't want to save anyone, Scientology just happened to stand in the way...

Check the i boards. - Orion682, on 01/24/2008, -0/+5Anonymous can probably best be categorized as a Smart Flash Mob. Like a Smart Mob, they use tech to keep in touch and organize, but like a Flash Mob, these are individual instances and not necessarily correlated to one another. Finally, like both, they utilize emergent behavior from the group to carry out their goals. Anonymous is a Hydra, with no prime leadership or true coherent organization. They are swarm. They are Legion.

...............
I can imagine that this will eventually degrade the monetary value of the forums where these groups are currently popular, such as Digg and Reddit.
The preteen rhetoric and postering will eventually bore the people with actual money. They have already alienated COS critics in a number of forums, such as the alt.scientology newsgroup, people who would be their allies.
The attack of the main COS website failed to have any long lasting effect, and used a script kiddie tactic as it was.
The COS sites are back up and running as well as ever.
They hijacked the Gigaloader website stress test tool, which has since gone offline, and will probably add COS to its internal list of blocked sites.
They tried for a pearl harbor and failed.
COS has the reputation of having infiltrated the FBI and the IRS back in the day. Regardless of whether or not this is true, do you thing they will have any trouble infiltrating this group if they wanted to?
The attack probably has made waves with the computer security folks at Homeland Security as well. While not high on their list of things to worry about, they naturally would be interested in any group using terrorist tactics, or declaring war on organizations legally recognized in the USA.
Who can doubt that by their statements, however overblown are calculated as an attempt to inspire fear and terror. Let's face it, this group of hackers would love it if they inspired terror.
That said, wave Hi and say hello to our friends at Homeland security.
While they remain mostly annoying and an occasional nuisance, probably not much will happen with these dozen or some hackers. They might even be ignored as essentially not very important.
Make a big enough stink, and bad things will happen to the hackers, because then Big Brother will become annoyed.
All because they think of Scientology as the evilest thing on earth. There are things far more evil. For light reading in this regard, see the Modern History Project website, especially the online books section:
http://www.modernhistoryproject.org
COS is not even close to being the evilest thing on earth. Anyone who thinks that is horrifyingly naive. There are things far worse.
For them, COS is a distraction so that you don't mess with the real issues- ApokalypseNow, on 01/24/2008, -0/+24They can't infiltrate Anonymous because Anonymous has no infrastructure to penetrate. It is a mob of individuals acting on their own initiative, guided only by what they think will be funny. As long as Scientology continues to be the object of scorn, attacking them will remain funny.
There are no "members" of Anonymous - anyone who thinks there is has missed the point. Heck, even calling Anonymous a "group" is a misnomer. Anyone who perpetrates an attack like this without taking credit, for no other reason than the humor value, even if they have never HEARD of Anonymous is as much an Anonymous as any self-proclaimed Anonymous - maybe more.- emazee, on 01/24/2008, -2/+1well, I imagine that there are in fact a few core freaks, such as issued the press release, put together the video, etc. all of which speaks to some of meme makers keeping the thing alive. that has too much effort and coordination in it to be totally random.
the anonymous aspect seems to be an excellent bit of pr fluff to inspire despair. when in fact the evidence of action stinks of some sort of organization.
Somebody had the idea. somebody did the deed. NSA would have no problem sifting out that data if they really wanted to, (thank you Dick Cheney)
Imagine is this happened to the IRS site instead of the COS site. You don't think they couldn't be tracked?
You have no idea, none at all.
Being anonymous in the USA is an illusion.
Complete and total illusion.
Wave hi to the man ion the black suit in the shadows.- zofox2, on 01/24/2008, -0/+0Gman is that you?
- Orion682, on 01/24/2008, -0/+5Anonymity is only an illusion to the masses. Anonymity is still possible, it's just not the norm anymore. And you're right, there are meme leaders and certain people doing most of the grunt work, the thing is that they do not really differentiate between themselves and the others. There is no credit given or taken. Even if one is caught, s/he will not know the others, and it is unlikely that a single act can traced back to them, as the group takes credit, and there is no real way to prove ties to the group. The idea is like trying to find a droplet in water.
As for "too much coordination to be totally random", look up flash mobs and smart mobs. It is not random. It is emergent behavior. - Digger1218, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2Did you take off your tin hat before making that comment?
- futureb, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2apok - good comment, but this is precisely the difficulty the govt sees in fighting terrorists. if you think they aren't trying to prevent this exact phenomenon (whatever the justification/motivation) then you're in for a surprise.
- ApokalypseNow, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1There are certain parallels to be drawn, yes, but the difference between the two is the fanaticism and leadership. One group does it for religious reasons and frequently blows up its members to kill some people. The other does it for laughs, and I bet very few are even willing to go to jail for the "cause". One group actually has some form of leadership, while the other relies on emergent behavior of the mob for its direction.
Of course the government is going to try to stop it, I just don't see how.

- bigfloppydonkey, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2"Being anonymous in the USA is an illusion."
eh, anonymity does exist, you just don't try.
It's still funny what people think about this whole thing. If people have enough drive for something it can and will happen.
Anonymous is exactly that, anonymous. If any one person gets caught, 10 more will replace them. That one person can't bring down any other people since they don't know them. This isn't led by one person or group, it is lead by an idea. - shackleton1, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1History of interest in how awful psychology is? - check

- killerknives, on 01/24/2008, -0/+12It isn't their stupidity that is upsetting, it is their censorship of anyone who opposes them, it is the horrible things they do to their followers (bankrupting them, killing them).
- Lymphocyte, on 01/24/2008, -8/+1I believe this has nothing to do to Scientology itself. We're probably just dealing with a kid who want to 'hack' to 'be cool' and figure it'd be okay since Scientology is unpopular. that sounds like someone who was raised in a strict religious household, man. The very thing you hate about religion is all you know about how to deal with disagreement---"agree with me, or I'll KILL you!!"
that's the problem with religion IN THE FIRST PLACE, and you just want to do the same thing back to them.......which will, in turn, make them feel "persecuted", and strengthen their 'faith' and 'resolve' in their 'god(s)'.
If you want to kill religion, it must be merely held up as the ridiculous and heartless charade that it is, and hold those who foment and propagate it responsible for their crimes.
don't just replace psychotic ***** with DIFFERENT psychotic *****! That's what Stalin was--an *atheist* psychotic ***** who essentially replaced the *religious, orthodox* psychotic ***** Czars. What Russia got was same *****, different *****....and Stalin didn't manage to kill religion then, either.
my point is, there's gotta be another way to end humanity's need to explain away death/mortality, and stop letting stupid, inbred sheepherders demand unquestioning obedience from all of humanity, while stealing everything they can.
