Guns have been banned in the UK for 10 years, yet gun crimes have doubled
timesonline.co.uk — Despite a ban on handguns introduced in 1997 after 16 children and their teacher were shot dead in the Dunblane massacre the previous year, their use in crimes has almost doubled to reach 4,671 in 2005-06. Official figures show that although Britain has some of the toughest anti-gun laws in the world, firearm use in crime has risen steadily.

All this makes me wonder if they will ban body armor because "no normal person should need body armor, it just isn't right."
I dare say a crime could be committed with any legal thing known to man.- jdubhub, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4That's one thing you never see politicians demand in public. Knife control laws to prevent stabbing crimes. Car control laws to prevent DUI fatalities. Rope control laws to prevent hangings. Water control laws to prevent drownings. Any of those types of fatalities kill more people each year than people killed unlawfully with a lawfully-owned firearm. The only difference is, of course, guns in the hands of the law-abiding public prevent a further erosion of our rights and that scares politicians.
- BattMatt, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3The US had better pay attention to what's going on in the UK right now. Will getting rid of our guns reduce crimes committed with them? I think not. Criminals don't tend to suddenly decide to follow the law when it comes time to turn in their weapons.
- jdubhub, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Somehow "I told you so" doesn't quite say enough to the gun grabbers and their Orwellian agenda.
