It has been pretty difficult getting information on this story though, apart from those. - tzon, on 10/10/2007, -7/+65Fox News Channel has been all over this all day.
- andrew52, on 10/10/2007, -16/+71Fire in a foreign country = low ratings
Murders and celebrities = high ratings
There's your answer. - Cl1mh4224rd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+33> "Umm, it's been the lead news article where I live (UK)."
The absolute best part of this submission is how the submitter asks where the media coverage is... while linking to the BBC's website. Oops! - relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -5/+31THIS IS ARSOOOONNNNNN
- Puppetfunk, on 10/10/2007, -4/+29THIS IS MADNESS!
- zorm, on 10/10/2007, -2/+23Lets see, you linked to BBC with a story about Greece burning... and its been on CNN.com for atleast the past day...
Perhaps you should stop being a moron and realize that "oh yeah the media is covering this, I just wanted to look like a big shot" - xstnothing, on 10/10/2007, -3/+20They must've angered Vulcan.
- pinkSocks, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19I was just watching coverage of this on Lou Dobbs. They even talked via satellite to a reporter actually in Greece and had a reporter who used Google Maps to display the areas in question. Not like that don't do that on occasion, but the coverage wasn't light is all I'm saying.
- Tiak, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18Yes, yes that is the thing they sarcasm, in this case laid on so thick that one would think that even a complete idiot couldn't miss it...
- owenleej, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16Its been the top story on Drudge for a couple days.
- titlesaysitall, on 10/10/2007, -5/+19THIS IS A DIGG COMMENT
- AnteChronos, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17However, one of those αβδ dry chemical extinguishers should work.
- awhiteflame, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17Fox has been talking about it each time I checked.
But I suppose no one here will care about that. - addicted68098, on 10/10/2007, -6/+18 sadly it's true
- TheSubStylee, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12Saw it on CNN yesterday I believe. But to answer your question, the television? Your watching the TV right? Ok, make sure that the plug is securely in the outlet. It is? Good, now pick up the remote, do you know what the remote is? Yes it's the small rectangular object, yes it does look kind of like an over sized candy bar. Ok, press the power button. Now, tune to a local or international news station. Good. Enjoy.
- Jeffler, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9THIS IS...oh ***** it.
- HUKI365, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9ITs all over the place in Australia. Probably because Melbourne has the biggest Greek population outside of Greece.
- noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11THIS IS HOTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!
- Soapdish, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Friday night on the CTV news channel it was one of the major stories (along with the baloon accident in BC). It of course repeated a few times while I was watching it.
- tjdoom, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9There was coverage. It was on the front page yesterday.
- NoStoppingUs, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9shhhhhh!
http://www.foxnews.com/ (on the front page) - mikev, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7The media coverage is on every channel in Greece, as it has been since June. The media here is making more news reports than efforts to do something. Luckily the last few days have brought more attention to this matter and other countries are helping out.
- bean, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I've seen at least 2 stories on cbc.ca, or do you only count news coverage on tv?
http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2007/08/26/greece-fires.html - mikev, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8I doubt hundreds of fires are set all over the state within a matter of hours due to political reasons. This is a serious situation where many people have lost their lives, homes, and soon Greece will lose part of her history.
- SopMan99, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11And I bet you're the first one to bitch about free speech.... You should be free to watch whatever you want. Even if it sucks.
- tjdoom, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8http://www.digg.com/world_news/Greek_government_has_declared_a_State_of_Emergency_for_the_entire_country
Digg coverage yay, now where's my cookie - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=us&q=greece&btnG=Search+News
The media coverage is right there. I won't even charge you my consulting fee for typing "greece" in google news's search box. - Russian666, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6"They must've angered Vulcan"
You must mean Hephaestos - TheChihuahua, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Comments like that are where the term 'deadpan' comes into play.
I salute you. - chris9902, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Front page: http://news.bbc.co.uk/
- Uranium118, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Sparta will burn to the grounds... oh wait...
- Shorties, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9Uh there is one happening right now in California, just over the hill of my hometown of Santa Barbara, is the media even mentioning that anywhere else but here? It's been burning for almost 2 months straight now (Since 4th of july). On our local TV channels all they have been talking about the California one and the Greece one over and over, so this title of this post confused me. (They are probably talking about it where I live because its so relatable).
- Dementual, on 01/27/2008, -1/+6You're very clever, dorkino.
- jshayne, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6um, also front page of the new york times - http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/27/world/europe/27cnd-greece.html?hp
- drommer, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9It's been all over the news for days here, in Canada ... Just stop watching Fox for news
- rupprupp29, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6It's either cover this or Michael Vick... needless to say the American media has their minds made up
- Heikell, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7Honestly, I have not seen a thing about this Greece fire on any U.S. news channels. Seems like celebrities are supposed to be the craze. Glad I read Digg though.
- jellygraph, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4dunno where you live, but its been a pretty big story where i live
- kafraco, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5It's been all over the news I've been watching.
- titlesaysitall, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6SPARTANS! TONIGHT, WE DINE IN HELL!
- angrycat, on 10/10/2007, -5/+9Americans are more interested in what LIndsey Lohan is doing.
- storm72, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Agreed. The US media has been covering this. NPR has been reporting on wildfires in Greece other than the current situation practically all summer. I've seen coverage of the current situation on a multitude of US media websites over the past few days. I have no idea what rock the original submitter is living under.
- N080dy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I see what you did there.
- Dementual, on 01/27/2008, -4/+7I don't recall the California hill fires being lit by opposing political parties for 3 months straight to get the public to sway away from the Democratic side towards the Communist side.
- mikev, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4The fires are by political parties and land speculators looking to build on the land. There is a law in Greece which states that you are not allowed to build on forests unless they were recently burned. This happens so often. Nearly ALL the mountains in Athens are filled with mansions which were forests 5 years ago.
The demand to build on this beautiful land has been around for years, and now that natural fires have occurred people are taking advantage. It is a shame to see my "countrymen" do this to their own country. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Abusing the comment system for good reason. Only American News is not getting this. For the last 24+ Hours this story has been getting atlest 30% of air time on most international News channels. Once again American NEWS Channels Suck monkey ballz.
