- RockMyMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -28/+14A few of those guys have a serious case of man boob. It is interesting that we still have kings like this in the world.
- imperium2000, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27Nigeria has a president...a bad one. The kings, are kings of their tribes.
- theBrink, on 10/12/2007, -15/+5it's good to be king, even when you have manboobs.
- drathosX3, on 10/12/2007, -18/+6wow that's great! They're all fat ***** who watch as their country starves... and have time for a photo opportunity... I'm sorry if I seem bitter, but these guys are worth the title 'King'
Especially this one, the whole family is fat. How about sharing the food *****?
http://bp3.blogger.com/_ySCIT3KO9Zc/RZBq16eKtmI/AAAAAAAAAa0/G-xCNomaJMo/s400/15.jpg - freff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16I was in Nigeria for about 2 months a couple years back. I really liked it over there. The people that I met where all very friendly, and I was near the city of Abuja, which was an active and very cool place to hang out. At the time, they were building a national stadium there, with which they hoped to lure some lucrative international competitions (good luck with that...), and I had a chance to meet loads of Nigerian citizens and visit a couple sites. It's was worth going just to see the women who walk along the sides of the roads with HUGE jugs of water balancing on their heads. For some reason, I'd always assumed that was something that was made up for the movies. Nigeria's a cool place that I definitely wouldn't mind visiting again.
And to top it off, the chief Minister to the King trusted me to do some delicate banking transaction that was a matter of national security. I haven't heard back from him yet, but once I do, Yakubu tells me that I'm going to be rolling in the dough.
p.s. This appears to the the site of the guy that took these pictures in the first place.
http://www.tamarin.com/king/kindire1.html - andr3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Where's the King of Zamunda? No list of African Kings can be complete without him...
- binnis, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Didn't you hear, the king of Zamunda moved to America and started doing Bell Atlantic. now Verizon, commercial.

- Aeon53, on 10/12/2007, -25/+9All killers and greedy evil men.
- VolatileWhimsy, on 10/12/2007, -22/+3Yup
- cybermort, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14really have you read about all the different tribal nations in Africa and their leaders or are you just talking out of your ass making an ignorant blanket statement ?
- VolatileWhimsy, on 10/12/2007, -16/+2Have you or are you talking out of your ass? I am assuming you are stating that all the kings in the web page are good guys.
- cybermort, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5@VolatileWhimsy. well you are assuming wrong. I'm not the type that makes uninformed general stamens.
- timla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I think cybermort is just questioning what type of credentials you have to make what sounds like a completely blanket statement. The way your statement was phrased, even one of the kings being non-evil or non-greedy would invalidate the entire statement. And while you may certainly be correct, without some sort of background information, you come off sounding more like some sort of small minded bigot.
Not that you are, just they way you sound. Just as I can sound like an ***** even though I am not. - VolatileWhimsy, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2http://www.state.gov/g/tip/rls/tiprpt/2004/33189.htm

We don't think up prejudices. What made you instantly think of them being tyrants?
I'm finding increasingly ignorant, prejudiced and racist comments on digg and it's starting to really tick me off. - VolatileWhimsy, on 10/12/2007, -14/+2I am finding it completely ignorant and counter productive for you to defend something you know nothing of..
- ragekaje, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Enlighten me.
- snypa, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5I'm sorry, but lets put this, trying not to stereotype because we can't say ***** like this anymore, crap to the side for one moment, I'm damn well sure that most, not all, but most the kings featured are cruel sons of bitches, who get shackled women to feed them all day, all the while their people starve. Most of them are fat *****, do you really think they want whats best for their people? Do you not think they have a murderous militia waiting to slaughter an entire village on the suspicion of being a threat to the "leadership". And what he said isn't racist at all.
- cpuenvy, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Here, let me enlighten you, ragekaje...
There was nothing racist or prejudiced about the comment. The whole continent is in ***** flames dude, and these bastards are the cause, not the solution.

- Dayyve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow, I think that Abubakar Sidiq is in all actuality dead and propped up on his throne by his evil cronies so they can continue to do harm in his name. Or he was just really tired when they took the picture.

- Dayyve, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Holy crap man!
- fosibodu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Why is d Sultan of Sokoto sleeping? I'm Nigerian living in the U.S. For the person that said something about fashion in Africa. Its people like you that see something and straight up generalize and belive that is the way all of Africa is. They only dress like this in the villages and trust me these people are richer than most of us here in the U.S. My grandfather was a chief with 6 wives and he had enough money to cater for all 35 or 36 children and send most of them to the US for college. Btw, this shows that we back home are not all about fashion. At the same time, go to the colleges in Nigeria and trust me, youll learn a thing or two about western fashion.
- Dayyve, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6So your grandfather was able to take care of his, but at what expense to the rest of his people??? That's not a healthy or fair way for the masses to survive.
As far as fashion goes - ARE YOU A WOMAN? I refuse to argue 'style' so I'll pass on that one... - freff, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Why are you trying to pick a fight with this guy, Dayyve? All he did was share his story, which was relevant to the topic being discussed here and somewhat informative. Don't be such an ass, or at least don't try to hard to be an ass.
- VolatileWhimsy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Because we all have to take responsibility for our actions. If what he says is true about his father, it would have been more heartening to hear what good he does his people versus sending all 30 kids to college...
- freff, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3@VolatileWhimsy
If I hear you correctly, what you're saying is that George Bush Sr. should have donated all that money that he earned from his Texas oil wells to charity instead of making sure that his sons went to a prestegious Ivy League University?
I understand the point your attempting to make, but 1. you don't really know anything about this guy's family, so it's tough (or easy depending on how you want to look at it) to criticize him over an internet message board, and 2. thinking that a man won't take care of his family to the best of his ability regardless of his situation is idealistic at best. - VolatileWhimsy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2"If I hear you correctly, what you're saying is that George Bush Sr. should have donated all that money that he earned from his Texas oil wells to charity instead of making sure that his sons went to a prestigious Ivy League University?

There is a difference between 2 and 30 by far.
You are correct I don't know anything about the guy's family so it was a statement on face value.
The same could be same for anyone criticizing anyone since none of us really know the others situation or experiences. But insight of the things that is going on in Africa for the past let's say 30 years I know of makes me wonder how one can afford to send 30 children to college while one's neighbors children starve.. :/
A man should take care of his family the best he can, but I do think we all should give to our respective communities... - freff, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Once again, we're back to the point that you don't know this guy or his particular family situation. So, you're passively judging him based off of his post where he shared that his father sent him and some of his siblings to college here in the US. There's a very real possibility that fosibodu and his brothers and sisters could have gotten some scholarships and grants to go to school in the States. I know that at the college that I went to, they were very proud of the international students that they had, and encouraged student diversity in any way they could. I can easily imagine a school offering decent financial incentives to the son of an African statesman, which would take into account factors like his numerous children and his country's economic state.
Of course, I don't know this for a fact either. All I'm saying is, don't make an assumption that the father is crooked and siphoning money to send his kids to school here. It's an assumption based on ignorance, and it needs to be pointed out as such.
- Dayyve, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6So your grandfather was able to take care of his, but at what expense to the rest of his people??? That's not a healthy or fair way for the masses to survive.
- gruk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Anyone notice how one of the kings was dressed in distinctly asian attire? Wonder what the history on that is.
- fosibodu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Like I said, this is not the way the teenagers and adults dress in Africa duh...only a select few that live in the rural areas. Don't be so gullible man. Jeez!
- cpuenvy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Is IGWE KENNETH NNAJI ONYEMAEKE ORIZU III the guy that is always trying to give me millions of dollars?
Give me a break! These people look like they just walked out of the mud hut!

Didn't this guy star in Little Man? A King AND a movie star... double threat!- freff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I looked him up read quick, and found this bit of trivia about Katsina, the area of Nigeria that this guy comes from:
"If the soverain-god [king] showed signs of mental or physical weakness, the lords of the palace would choose his successor, that they would place beneath a black ox whose throat would be cut. The new Sarki would therefore be purified and washed in the ox's blood, while one of the lords strangled the fallen soverain.
The deceased Sarki was then envelopped in the ox's skin and burried [sic] standing up."
Those guys don't mess around. Impeachment? Plueeze. We'll just strangle that fool, and bury him in the folds of the ox that we used to baptize his successor, in a position that implies that the old king will never ever be able to rest in peace in the afterlife. Don't come with that weak crap, if you're trying to be King of my village. That's hardcore.

- bigchiefx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This shows how ignorant and silly the rest of the world can be about Africa and probably why there are still so many victims of advanced fee fraud conned by Nigerians. First let me make some corrections; The photograph of the Oba of Benin is wrong! that is not him and he is not referred to as "Salomon Igbinoghodua" but as His Royal Majesty Omonoba'nedo Ukuakpolokpolo Erediuuwa (Meaning Erediauwa, Emperor of Benin). The Isiemwenro Chief is also not a king but a member of the benin royal court, I know because he is the head of the family to which I belong. Silly jokes and comments apart I think this kind of misrepresentation of Africa has to stop and people like this who post false information on the internet treated the same way as the Nigerian fraudsters are...with less than contempt and possibly jailed
