googlemapsmania.blogspot.com — Google has released road maps for all African countries and street level detail for cities like Cairo, Egypt and Johannesburg, South Africa. City and town searching seems to work as well.

  • andrewpmk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Johannesburg does not seem to have street level detail. It only has a base map showing major streets and highways. This becomes quite obvious if you compare it with the satellite picture. Cairo is the only city that I have found with street level detail. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be rendered as well as cities in North America and Europe; in particular, the small alleys in Cairo are rendered too wide, cluttering up the map.
