someone correct me- omenmedia, on 01/29/2008, -0/+4I think you are correct, sir.
- moleeyes, on 01/29/2008, -0/+0Duplo indeed. Lego for the heavy handed.
- Tunguska, on 01/29/2008, -0/+3I believe Lego is the plural.
- mydigga, on 01/29/2008, -2/+14LEGO
- WallnutBoy, on 01/29/2008, -1/+16At least Google isn't discriminating by leaving out the Lego Peoples! They have holidays, too!
- up2nogud247, on 01/29/2008, -9/+4i was wondering why it looked like that...
thank you digg! - Audacitor, on 01/29/2008, -2/+69Legos for the win. They're the second most painful thing to step on in the world. Four sided dice claim the first.
- WhiteRaven, on 01/29/2008, -1/+3You should have said most painful *toy*... which is still debatable but is at least in the ballpark.
- 4ndr3wk, on 01/29/2008, -0/+14try stepping on a 3 pin (british) plug. now THAT hurts
- joe57spike, on 01/29/2008, -0/+9I can vouch for that one.
- Exekutor, on 01/29/2008, -0/+4True. I once jumped over one, accidentally of course. I ended up in the hospital.
- billbillbilly, on 01/29/2008, -1/+19what about nails, tacks, hot coals, spikes, thorns, lava, etc
oh and dont forget steping on someone balls (painful for the other person) - evulhotdog, on 01/29/2008, -0/+7i sure as hell can attest to that, i remember i used to play with them, and if you forget one, and accidentally step on one, OUCH!!!
- joe57spike, on 01/29/2008, -0/+5For me it wasn't a case of one; I was stepping through huge piles of the stuff. Did anyone else ever swallow a piece by accident?
- JoeRW, on 01/29/2008, -0/+5I always used to fight my brother on top of the lego pile, very painful.... for him.
- iPissExcellence, on 01/29/2008, -2/+14remember, don't mix to many colors or all the bricks will turn brown.

- Phillyzero, on 01/29/2008, -3/+62Really? This is being dugg? Everyone (assuming everyone uses google) has already seen this...
- borez, on 01/29/2008, -1/+6Couldn't agree with you more.
- Daniel591992, on 01/29/2008, -0/+15Not everyone visits the main page. I would have probably missed it.
- skywake, on 01/29/2008, -0/+3I hadn't seen it but thats mostly because I have google/ig as my homepage and not the plain old google.
- highstriker, on 01/29/2008, -0/+6Except it doesn't show on iGoogle, or at least it doesn't on mine...
- kjcdude, on 01/29/2008, -0/+4I use google around 50-70 times a day and i missed it because i never visit the homepage.
- crazybugger, on 01/30/2008, -0/+1i use google suggest as my homepage!
- choopie911, on 01/29/2008, -1/+14I can't imagine that a single digg user didn't see this on their own by going to google long before seeing it here.
- univerio, on 01/29/2008, -0/+8Well, I use the search toolbar in Firefox so I usually bypass the front page.
- macbookpromat, on 01/29/2008, -0/+5I use iGoogle, so the logo doesn't change, but the Digg widget is quite helpful, because it helped me spot this story..
- brachiofnord, on 01/29/2008, -3/+2I found the title very miss leading... I thought "wait... is internet 50 years old?"
- richardiscool, on 01/29/2008, -0/+5Mental retardation can cause that.
- MrDo, on 01/29/2008, -0/+2Well, the first ARPANET connection was created in 1969, so not quite yet.
- MrMonarchy, on 01/29/2008, -7/+2What was the point of this?
- cosmotic, on 01/29/2008, -14/+8A: This is not a logo, "cool logo" does not apply.
B: This is not news.
C: This is not noteworthy.
D: Who doesn't go to google on a daily basis so that they may not have already seen this?
=( - MrDo, on 01/29/2008, -0/+6There's only one LEGO® http://www.lego.com/
Accept no substitutes! :-p- mabhatter, on 01/29/2008, -0/+1surprisingly for such a simple toy, nobody has copied them WELL, even though the "design" patents have fallen off to make bricks that can interconnect. The key I think is that Lego uses harder to work with, and higher quality plastic for the bricks. It's very hard and rigid and holds a sharp surface well. The chinese trying to copy always use cheaper plastic and the blocks don't hold up as well.
Of course they are probably thinking of liability.. I have 30 year-old blocks that can still draw blood if you step on them wrong!

- bossywalker, on 01/29/2008, -0/+14I hadn't seen it for two reasons: a) google is built into my browser so I don't need to go to the home page
b) I get redirected to google.com.au so I can't get to goole.com- veloc1ty, on 01/29/2008, -0/+2Click 'go to google.com' at the bottom of the page.
- barkeep8, on 01/29/2008, -0/+2I've never been to goole.com until I read your comment, and had to try it. I was kind of dissapointed.
- leahcim, on 01/29/2008, -0/+2Goole.com isn't such a good representation of the town of Goole.
- Subriot, on 01/29/2008, -1/+2Did you guys just notice this? Also, ALT tags will give you the description of the logo...
- amirman, on 01/29/2008, -2/+8slow news night?
- barkeep8, on 01/29/2008, -0/+3screw you ;) , did you not own legos as a child? how could it not be your favorite toy? how could you not be drooling over every 50th anniversary news article?
- amirman, on 01/29/2008, -0/+1i love legos. i still have my stash. i'm contemplating letting my 2 1/2 year old at em.

- Smegzor, on 01/29/2008, -0/+7I didn't know LEGO shared the same birthday as my wife, and the same age as well :O
- omenmedia, on 01/29/2008, -1/+5Dude, you made your wife out of LEGO? That's just wrong. I mean, I would be lying if I said I hadn't considered it, but... it's just WRONG.

Canadians only make things better!- punkcat, on 01/29/2008, -0/+3i think u mean Mega Bloks. it was 2 words for a company u supposedly like and you got them both wrong.
- mabhatter, on 01/29/2008, -0/+1they still aren't quite right. My kids like some of the sets, but the blocks don't fit well with Lego bricks even though Lego brick are nearly perfect across 50 years... it's just a plastic brick.. why is it that hard to copy correctly?
- aroundtown, on 01/29/2008, -0/+1they had to battle enough with lego over legal issues, when they finally won I'm sure they weren't going to push it any further.

- kylesykes, on 01/29/2008, -8/+2You've gotta be ***** kidding me. Are the quality of stories really bad enough that you have to post the logo for one of the most visited websites on the internet? Jesus ***** christ.
- VaporBro, on 01/29/2008, -1/+2Someone sad they didn't invent Google? Or Legos?
Tell your mom I said hi. You should ask her to turn up the heat too, gets pretty cold in the basement I hear.- kylesykes, on 01/29/2008, -1/+1Har har har. I'm laughing so hard my side is splitting.
Seriously? That's the best you could come up with? A living in my mom's basement joke? Go troll somewhere else.- VaporBro, on 01/29/2008, -0/+1You were trolling when I replied to your useless comment. I could say the same to you. But no, seriously tell mommy I said hi.
- kylesykes, on 01/29/2008, -1/+1Har har har. I'm laughing so hard my side is splitting.
- mabhatter, on 01/29/2008, -0/+2They just turned 50. That's right 50 years old.. and bricks from the early years still fit PERFECTLY with bricks fresh off the store shelf. I have bricks from 30 years ago in my (now) kids collection and you can't tell the difference other than a little color fading. For any product that would be great quality achievement.. for a kids' toy it's freeking awesome. Their attention to detail and longevity is REAL NEWS that belongs here.. and we're geeks anyway.
- kylesykes, on 01/29/2008, -1/+1My point isn't that lego's were turning 50, it's that someone didn't link a story, or something even remotely related to news other than the logo of a website that nearly everyone visits. You can't tell me there isn't ONE story related to lego's 50th anniversary?
I wouldn't have cared if there was a story on lego's, hell i love legos. What i do think is useless...is what was done here...posting google's logo for the day. Maybe i should've made that clearer in my original post...not like anyone's going to read this anyways.

- Smegzor, on 01/29/2008, -0/+1There is a great game based on LEGO called Blockland. http://www.blockland.us
Old digg story about it here http://digg.com/gaming_news/Blockland_Play_with_Le ...
It is a fun game even for oldies like me, but its also great because it keeps the kids amused all day and there are no painful LEGO bomb sites to tread on in the middle of the night. Its also cheap as.- Smegzor, on 01/29/2008, -0/+1FFS! Digg won't let me paste a link to a Digg story!

- christoast, on 09/04/2008, -0/+1I never really got into legos what with computers and all
- archivist, on 01/29/2008, -0/+2my sister used to give me and my brother legos when i was 10 during birthdays and christmas, she always gave us the small ones because she was a student back then. when we're building them, they always came with a small brochure that showcases those really big legos and we never had it back then. i told my younger brother that i'll buy them when i get bigger.
now i'm 24, and every time its his or my birthday or when i'm coming back from another country, i would give him really big and expensive legos, the ones we didnt have before. last christmas, my sis was away so i bought my younger bro a really huge lego (mars mission driller) but on the card i wrote there that it was from my sister.
when i told that to her, she said she almost cried. - richms, on 01/29/2008, -0/+1Those of us that use a country specific google. like google.co.nz never get to see these so its nice to see them on digg - thanks :)
- Smegzor, on 01/29/2008, -0/+1I use that google all the time (coming from NZ and all) and I see all the doodles. I'm sure everyone sees the doodles. I don't know where you got that idea from.
