Girl's Dying Wish Denied; Imprisoned Father Not Coming Home.
ketv.com — His crime? Drug use. How about some compassion warden?

- SaladCactusKing, on 03/20/2008, -1/+9***** reprehensible.
- satanatnmtedu, on 03/20/2008, -0/+3I think that is a little extreme. We know very little about why the father is in jail (circumstances, etc.). But, this is more about the child than the father.
- pharmd2000, on 03/20/2008, -0/+4Tough situation, but a little bit of compassion sure would be in order. Seems like the child is really being "punished" the most by the inflexibility of the justice system.
- northwoodsfree, on 03/20/2008, -0/+2Warden, just what kind of ***** are you???? Somebody fire this bum!!!
- selmer, on 03/20/2008, -0/+5This one hurt to read...the girl has a brain tumor, and he is in jail on a ***** drug charge, and you can't give him (her) a little time? What the ***** man?
- cheshireluna, on 03/20/2008, -0/+3If this doesn't constitute an "extraordinary circumstance," what does?
- JerMaurer, on 03/20/2008, -0/+6Let's all get together behind this family and contact the warden. Please use civility as he is in a position of power and the end goal is to get Jayci some time with her father. The Warden is J.D. WHITEHEAD, WARDEN Fax 605-668-1113 email: YAN/EXECASSISTANT@BOP.GOV2
Let's call our senators and voice our compassion and request that the family receives reconsideration.- ellabee, on 03/20/2008, -0/+2Done. FAX sent requesting this to be considered an extraordinary circumstance.
- ellabee, on 03/20/2008, -0/+4Sent this in an email and a fax:
Good Afternoon Warden -
My name is [ellabee's real name]. I am a citizen in [ellabee's real state].
I became aware of the situation arising over a 10-year-old girl named Jayci Yaeger, a girl suffering from end-stage brain cancer who desperately wishes to have her dad at her bedside.
Quite simply: PLEASE allow him this furlough. It is the right thing to do. Inmate Jason Yaeger is asking nothing more than to see his daughter before she passes on. I understand that he is very willing to make compensations regarding his incarceration time yet to be served; he asks for no time off, is willing to barter this request for EXTRA time incarcerated....
I see no malice from this man. Do not punish Jayci for her father's crime.
I write this to you as a mother who has lost a child. Four years ago I lost my four-year-old son to a catastrophic bout with pneumonia and sepsis. I was fortunate enough to be able to hold my son as he passed on. Unless one has had this experience, any attempts for me to describe it is futile.
While Mr. Yaeger might not be there at the precise time of his daughter's passing, to be at her bedside, to SEE her in her compromised position is necessary, just as it is essential for this young soul to have a final day/week/anything with her father. HER FATHER.
Please do the right thing; the psychic rewards YOU will reap will be profound.
With the greatest of respect,
[name] - lhbaker, on 03/21/2008, -1/+1Well *****. That'll teach him.
/s - skineh, on 03/21/2008, -0/+0Drugs are bad, mmk?
- ScaredOfTheMan, on 03/23/2008, -0/+1We need more diggs to get this to the front page (or even most popular), then maybe some national media will cover the story (nightline or something) and help the Warden realize this girl should be allowed to see her daddy one last time. I bet people would even donate to pay for the escort, (I would). This is just a sad story, especially if you have kids of your own.
- Sunshine2008, on 03/24/2008, -0/+0Hi all: I called the Governor of South Dakota's office. I spoke to his secretary. She said that Governor could not do anything. That it is a federal issue. I said, "lady, your head is in the ground." The Governor can do anything. Politicians are dirty and they have power. Out here in California, they are powerful and dirty, so please don't tell me that a Governor of a US state, cannot get a guy out of federal prison. If he can't then who?
- ladybroadoak, on 03/26/2008, -0/+1People are trying to spread lies about this on my blog post on this saying that he's been let out - thus discouraging calling. I find that velly in ter esting ..
As for California, never let the memory of Tookie Williams fade. [That was horrific. I stopped actually writing a word for four months after that .. I just felt silenced inside. Some things are unspeakably cruel.]
