Girl, 8, sent on Iraq suicide bombing mission
telegraph.co.uk — A girl as young as eight was sent on a suicide bombing mission in Iraq today, it has been claimed. The Iraqi army said that an officer had been killed when the girl, strapped with explosives, approached soldiers near Youssifiyah, south of the capital Baghdad. An army spokesman said that the bomb she was carrying was detonated by remote control...

- MediaSight, on 05/14/2008, -3/+10what a culture. i wonder where are all human rights organizations. this is child abuse, and the west are not doing anything from stopping this. afraid from war? well, you'll wake up in 10 years with more 100.000.000 suicides.
- xxvtcxx, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2I don't think it's correct to imply that these acts performed by fanaticals are a part of the "culture", although I don't know to much about Islam, I'm sure that it's not written in any of their holy texts that states that it is fine to send unwitting children as fighters for their cause.
- wahoorob, on 05/14/2008, -2/+2Kind of puts "Am I being detained?" into perspective, doesn't it?
- sk11, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Is is appalling, but it doesn't mean that no one can ever complain about anything ever again!
- imacommi, on 05/14/2008, -1/+3WTF is this world comming to?!?
- Jashobeam5, on 05/14/2008, -3/+14And people have the nerve to say these monsters who would kill children are anything like those who fought the American Revolution and founded the US.
- JimmySpaza, on 05/15/2008, -6/+5To many liberals, the terrorists and America patriots look alike. For the leftwing wackos, it's all morally equivalent since, primarily, liberal wackos tend to base their morality on how they FEEL, as opposed to a transcedant, objective, unchanging source like God.
- chicofaraby, on 05/15/2008, -4/+6"a transcedant, objective, unchanging source like God"
You're always good for a laugh, Spaz. - sk11, on 05/15/2008, -2/+5So, tell us how should we treat adulterers? Should we murder them (old testament) or not judge them (new testament)? So much for your "unchanging source!"
How about we base morality on rational logic instead?- JimmySpaza, on 05/16/2008, -3/+1You do know that the majority of the Old Testament laws were designed by God for Israel only, yes?
You do know that God creates governments with varying rules for use by gentiles (non-Jews), yes?
It's all there in the Bible. Feel free to actually read it instead of scanning an atheist website.
The problem with basing morality on rational logic is that each human's logic may vary a little from person to person. There is nothing objective by which ALL people can base their morality.
So, if I say that abortion is evil from a logical standpoint and YOUR logical mind says otherwise, then who is right? Well, no one really...if we base morality on our own subjective perceptions of the world.
Hence, the problem. No, God's morality is the best logic, objective, and unchanging...unlike man's. - sk11, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1Re: jimmyspaza
You know, it's very difficult to discuss such things using the digg commenting system, even though it has improved somewhat.
How about we continue the discussion at my own debating forum, tailor made for such debates? Forum is at: http://sk11.lefora.com/forum
Everyone else interested in such discussions is also free to join. Let me know if you have problems posting, try and use your digg nick if you can.

- vecia, on 05/23/2008, -0/+0Jashobeam, you forget that the founding of America was at a completely different time and scope. Today you dont hear about the rape stories or what exactly happens in Iraq, even with all the coverage there.
What you also forget is during the American Revolution and the founding of the US there was no such thing as Digg, the internet, CNN or the daily telegraph.
Sorry but what your saying has no legs to stand on.

- CryRightardCry, on 05/14/2008, -9/+7I'm not sure what the right wing warmongers think is going to happen as the Iraqis get more and more desperate.
I'm betting we'll see the orphans with no families used as bombs by extremists who feel they are better off dead.
What do you think desperate people do when there is no hope for their future?- JimmySpaza, on 05/15/2008, -4/+4There is hope for Iraq's future...big time. THAT is one of the reasons that these Islamic terrorists are getting so desparate. The more freedom and prosperity the average Iraqi enjoys, the less they will want to listen, and be controlled, by the radical Islamic extremist groups. It's all about control and power with those terrorists.
To such Islamic terrorist groups, religion is about power and control, and not necessarily about the worship of some god.
If the U.S. really was fumbling the ball that much, the Islamic terrorists would just sit back and watch the train wreck. But, everything is slowly getting better and better...and it's driving the terrorists crazy.
Furthermore, add to this the fact that recruiting for those terrorist groups is down significantly. Also, public awareness of their tactics has increased dramatically.
Why else would they use a young girl to murder people?- TheCatsPants, on 05/15/2008, -1/+2"Why else would they use a young girl to murder people?"
Desperation, and a ferverent belief that the little girl's soul will go straight to heaven? Still makes them evil bastards though.

- toshirosan, on 05/15/2008, -3/+9The only way "the west" can do to stop this from continuing is to get out of Iraq, Afghanistan, and restore Palestine's right. Face it. You cannot stop violence with more violence. Stop it by reaching out to these people. restore their rights as HUMANS, not as slaves or animals. Help them, not kill them. If you remove the reason for them to continue fighting, they will stop fighting and start living. Everybody on this earth deserves to live their lives peacefully.
- TheCatsPants, on 05/15/2008, -3/+1You mean "turn the other cheek", forgive, and "love your enemy"? Dugg!
- MetalLizard, on 05/15/2008, -2/+1"You cannot stop violence with more violence" You can in a lot of instances... but not in Iraq. You kill one, and 2 others fight that were his brothers, or comrades.
- JAVandiver, on 05/15/2008, -2/+3The reason that we cannot allow that is that cultural Islam is toxic to the western way of life. As that we live in a global society, we cannot allow an entity which espouses subjugation of women, murder of apostates, and violent jihad against "unbelievers" to gain global power. There is a significant minority of the Islamic world (note I did not say Muslim world) that desires a new Caliphate. That must be stopped at all cost. Otherwise we are not looking at a few hundred thousand dead, but billions.
- TheCatsPants, on 05/15/2008, -1/+1It's "toxic" to the western way of life because they perceive the west to be a threat to their way of life. Religion is being used as a political tool. I wonder why. We need to encourage people to give up extremism with something other than warfare. Terrorism and guerilla warfare is what people resort to when they have no other way of striking at their enemies. Perhaps by bringing them into the political process we can avoid more deaths. It worked in Northern Ireland.
- sk11, on 05/15/2008, -1/+1Islam is quite an impotent force in the modern world. Even a single nuclear armed NATO country could take on the entire middle east. Israel, a relatively small country, won against an Arab alliance within a week. Imagine how easily the full force of NATO, largely of christian make up, could destroy the whole islamic world (islamic countries). It would be child's play. There's no need to be so disproportionately afraid of islamic countries, it's just a useful tool for certain political ideologists.
- chicofaraby, on 05/15/2008, -8/+3I heard that the Iraqis are taking babies out of incubators too.
