      The one hundred meeters deep hole opened in one one of the city's poorest and most overpopulated parts. The three who is missing is a 53 year old man, and two teenagers, one boy and a girl.

      - The house shivered so much that we woke up, says Edward Ramirez, who lives 50 feet away from the hole, to the newspaper AP. He told that people around the area heard weird sounds and felt that the ground was shivering for about a month before the accident.

      Now is both Ramirez and 1000 other persons from the neighborhood evacuated from their homes, and the government warns that the ground is extremely unstable. The police assisted the evacuated out of the area; many people carried with them personal belongings like fridges and TVs.

      Around the smelly hole people can still hear sounds and the ground is still shivering, the government fears that the hole will expand.

      A spokesman for the local waterworks told that the sewer cable collapsed after being filled and that the town was aware of the problem. The military thinks that a controlled explosion will clean up the sewers, but they didn't manage to fix the problem before the whole thing collapsed. There is also a risk that more of these holes can appear around the city."

Anyway, yeah that was because of drainage pipe issues, and the saddest part is that they only started renovating the drainage system about 4 months ago, and they have hardly done anything but slow up traffic with a bunch of dumb hicks and their massive construction equipment. Oh well thats government for you.

He spent 9+ hours decompressing (probably in some local hyperbaric chamber), his other dive buddy a cave diving pioneer, Sheck Exley never returned...scary. Sheck, apparently invented the use of the "Octo" or Ocotpus/2nd-stage regulator (sometimes yellow and now an option on BC's). Jim's currently training to attempt to dive "all the way to the bottom" of the El Zacatón.

Looks like the sewer leak washed away the the top 10-20 m of loose soil. The underground water table did the rest. A few good storms or more water leaks, or a tremor and that hole will widen dramatically.

    They might try to inject concrete to stabilize some of the edges of the cavern opening - once they find them. But that neighborhood looks like loss.

Then the whole floor collapsed and everyone fell into a sinkhole that looked like this one, only slightly bigger. It was large enough to easily swallow the Empire State Building three times. I wonder what I ate or drank the evening before...
