German High Court Takes a Look at Incest
spiegel.de — Must consensual sex between close relatives be punished? Germany's highest court is about to rule whether incest will continue to result in a jail term. It is referring to the case of a brother and sister who have already had four children together.

- Nannybell, on 03/12/2008, -2/+9I've been saying this is the next logical thing to happen, the normalization of pedophilia and incest. Germany is leading the way. Disgusting. Hopefully the German court will not normalize this relationship; but on the other hand, they are making criminals of homeschoolers, so who knows what they will do. I'm really surprised they beat California to this new cultural low, but California probably won't be far behind.
- KCLorelei39, on 03/12/2008, -0/+8that's just what I was thinking, NB
- PappyPapillon, on 03/12/2008, -0/+9Very disturbing story. I thought Germans were more intelligent than to encourage such an abomination. Letting close relatives breed with one another is the epitome of child abuse as these children are guaranteed to be mentally and/or physically abnormal.
I hate to disagree with you, Nannybell, but I don't think even California will sink this low. And let's pray, for the good of our nation, that California doesn't sink to this level of depravity and genetic insanity. As a state California already has one foot firmly planted in hell. - these3remain, on 03/12/2008, -0/+9This is the result of secular humanist thinking and moral relativism - anything goes "as long as it doesn't hurt anyone". The problems arise because there are always victims when depravity is involved - whether acknowledged or not.
- Nannybell, on 03/12/2008, -0/+8T3R, so correct... their mantra is "AS LONG AS IT DOESN'T HURT ANYONE." They are using that nonsense on everything, without realizing that the human mind can come up with all kinds of rationalizations as to why something doesn't hurt anyone.
- animalwheeler, on 03/12/2008, -0/+7Yes, lets ignore the fact that the first and second children had physical disabilities as well as mental deficiencies. And then the third child had a heart problem. Although each condition could have come about on it's own, incest does heighten the chances for birth defects. And they knew they were brother sister BEFORE. Only by the fourth child, was a birth normal and healthy. But 1 in 4 is not good odds for any other future children they may have.
So most definitely, no one harmed. /sarcasm
- animalwheeler, on 03/12/2008, -0/+8I think what appalled me the most about this article, was the positive light these people were being held in. As if the incest was ok, and nothing bad could ever come of it. We can argue the punishment by law side of it.
But we cannot argue that there is, an inherent nature within us, that tells us no- we do not mate with our relatives. The same feeling in the back of our heads that tells us sex with animals is not right either.
And they knew BEFORE they started the relationship, that they were brother and sister. Who cares if they met for the first time in 16 years, they knew they were related, by blood. And yet they still made the decision to go ahead with it. - KCLorelei39, on 03/12/2008, -0/+8certain elements of society have been making our emotions an idol for years. these siblings have feelings for each other, they feel like it's right...and who's to say no to them, when that's the same argument that's been peddled for years about so many other "rights"?
- Nannybell, on 03/12/2008, -3/+8Where are all the Digg atheists who usually follow us around? Why aren't they here telling us how wrong we are about objecting to this????? Hmmmm...?????

- TYRONEBR549, on 03/13/2008, -1/+6There " SCIENCE " has left them with nothing to say. Maybe it's just past there bedtimes.
