- PoppaSpanky, on 01/23/2008, -0/+7Wow. Totally wrong approach.
How about make the grade or get them out of school so those who want to learn have a better opportunity. School has been dumbed down too much already and there are too many apathetic kids in there now anyway. If they become problematic on the streets and the parents aren't there to handle it, send them off to camp where they grow their own food, make their own clothes, build their own house and so forth. Or whatever the solution, don't make it my (or your) responsibilty to pay for them. - drenader, on 01/23/2008, -0/+6At least they will be comfortable with government handouts by the time they are old enough to collect benefits.
- Christianptriot, on 01/23/2008, -0/+5Are you kidding me?
- sjl127, on 01/23/2008, -0/+4This is the stupidest thing I've heard in my life - This is equating an idiot's luggage combination of 1-2-3-4-5
- Napoleone, on 01/23/2008, -0/+4Slutty girls, rampant lesbianism, rainbow bj's, teacher sex, student orgies and now a paycheck...
Man, I gotta get back to high school. - TheVigilante, on 01/23/2008, -0/+4Okay, now's a good time to take down the federal Department of Education.
- subarumaniac, on 01/23/2008, -0/+3i think this is phase 2 of the leave no child behind act
- principle, on 01/23/2008, -0/+2I understand incentives… but better then minimum wage? This system encourages kids to be bad students, and to continue that way.
- EuroRaver, on 01/23/2008, -0/+1What is minimum wage again?
- gropo, on 01/24/2008, -1/+1Inflict is a transitive verb, moron. Gee, I wonder why you have such a hairbrained conceptualization of what Universities are.
- chemdiva, on 01/24/2008, -2/+1As ridiculous as this seems to me now, it sure would have helped out back when i was in school and skipped doing homework so i could go to work and help pay the bills. It's not right or fair or ideal, but for a number of kids, the choice isn't "stay in school, get a job" it's stay in school OR get a job.... From the article, it seems that students were chosen at least in part based on income: "the students chosen for the program were picked by school staff, based on attendance, grades, test scores and free or reduced lunch status"
