- warrenterr, on 04/22/2008, -6/+16If McCain is elected... you betcha
- cdahlkvist, on 04/22/2008, -2/+8Wow. Even as a Republican, I agree.
- madroneDorf, on 04/22/2008, -1/+14Russia would cream Georgia, and Georgia is not in a military alliance that involves a comprobable power to Russia.
- OwdenBowden, on 04/22/2008, -1/+3Fact is that czar Putin is doing his best to flex Mother Russia's Military and scare the hell out of the world. He has been pushing the bounds of our airspace in Alaska lately - testing our defenses and maybe even planning something special.
Putin makes the Bush administration look like a Girl scout outing.
- warrenterr, on 04/22/2008, -6/+16If McCain is elected... you betcha
- Dokument, on 04/22/2008, -10/+72ohhh THAT georgia..
- rudy23, on 04/22/2008, -5/+48I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uhmmm, some people, out there in our nation don’t have maps and uh, I believe that our, I, education like such as uh, South Africa, and uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should, uhhh, our education over here in the US should help the U.S., uh, should help South Africa, it should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future, for us.
- Dokument, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1i live in Alabama, so its not that bad dude.
- Jaliyl, on 04/22/2008, -8/+4I learned something today.
This video is a short history of Georgia
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4e403RsO8E0- Wartz, on 04/22/2008, -4/+1brilliant!
- silentboom, on 04/22/2008, -2/+10Don't worry there will be US unmanned drones in both Georgias soon.
- Clad, on 04/22/2008, -11/+42Damnit. I always knew South Carolina was a threat.
- gcman94, on 04/22/2008, -10/+1Georgia is a state apart from south carolina.
- cheeseron, on 04/22/2008, -8/+2http://impeachforpeace.org/impeach_bush_blog/wp-co ...
hmmm what's that to the right of georgia?
- cheeseron, on 04/22/2008, -8/+2http://impeachforpeace.org/impeach_bush_blog/wp-co ...
- DasCrackbaby, on 04/22/2008, -7/+2HA! I live on the Georgia South Carolina border.
- Kabrabnzada, on 04/22/2008, -1/+6I'm sorry.
- sirpyro, on 04/22/2008, -1/+3No, that would be Tennessee being the threat. Georgia's trying to take Tennessee's water, and half of chattanooga.
- gcman94, on 04/22/2008, -10/+1Georgia is a state apart from south carolina.
- stonewaljacksn, on 04/22/2008, -35/+6am I the only one who thought this meant the U.S. state of Georgia at first.
- EdmontonEh, on 04/22/2008, -6/+9LMAO.... YES!
- bradleyland, on 04/22/2008, -1/+10The first thing that popped to mind for me, and everyone else who knows anything about geography outside the US, is the former Soviet republic of Georgia. A Russian jet shooting down anything in US airspace is almost unthinkable at this point. It would be a disaster that no one wants to create.
- JointVenture, on 04/22/2008, -2/+5Yup.
- ukblacknight, on 04/22/2008, -1/+2No.
- Ev3nt372, on 04/22/2008, -3/+44This is the intro to a Tom Clancy game.
- mirunit, on 04/22/2008, -1/+4Tom Clancy HAWX by the video.
- rz8472, on 04/22/2008, -0/+2This is one of the most awesome videos I've seen in a while. It's better than a Tom Clancy intro.
- NEUTRINO50, on 04/22/2008, -0/+2It was the drone they were looking for
- pox05, on 04/27/2008, -0/+1i wish i could digg this twice!

- SlackerCS, on 04/22/2008, -14/+9First a tornado in Atlanta, now this.
- ofathens, on 04/22/2008, -2/+3Try clicking the link next time.
- physco827, on 04/22/2008, -20/+3Something doesn't look right to me. You see the missile as if it were firing straight under the UAV go off camera. Then the camera looks down and the missile makes a steep climb to hit the camera almost perfectly? Correct me if I'm wrong being that I don't know how these missiles operate.
- MadAce, on 04/22/2008, -5/+3Considering the camera is only slightly smaller than the rest of the drone... It makes sense.
- physco827, on 04/22/2008, -1/+2Yeah but the movement of the missile is what I'm questioning, not so much where it hits.
- davidamerland, on 04/22/2008, -0/+1The missile locks onto the target. Its trajectory is always ballistic and they never fly in a straight line. This is basic school maths.
- physco827, on 04/22/2008, -1/+2Yeah but the movement of the missile is what I'm questioning, not so much where it hits.
- Shizlanski, on 04/22/2008, -3/+11Thats how missiles work. They get away from the jet it was shot from before they turn. Could be bad otherwise lol.
- physco827, on 04/22/2008, -1/+6Ok, I just didn't understand.
- chanop, on 04/22/2008, -9/+2are you blind?
- physco827, on 04/22/2008, -1/+8I watched the video thus making me able to see...............good one though.........
- ilves7, on 04/22/2008, -1/+2well, they do take a dip when they're first fired due to gravity and before gaining speed...
- cnichols785, on 04/22/2008, -1/+14The Vympel R-73 is a typical air-to-air missile carried by the MiG-29 that travels at Mach 2.5. Any engine that can generate enough thrust to accelerate a 100kg object to Mach 2.5 should certainly have the capacity to make the turn depicted in the video. The R-73 and many other Russian missiles like it also come equipped with infrared homing, explaining the direct hit.
- captmorgan555, on 04/22/2008, -1/+9You scare me
- GiggleStick, on 04/22/2008, -0/+1I thought the faster you go the less maneuverable, and the harder to turn, at least sharply.
- davidamerland, on 04/22/2008, -0/+1You just passed the interview. Can we have you running national defence?
- MadAce, on 04/22/2008, -5/+3Considering the camera is only slightly smaller than the rest of the drone... It makes sense.
- sunebeck, on 04/22/2008, -15/+7I drone know, perhaps it was just an accident?
- lyssword, on 04/22/2008, -1/+2common now, "I drone know" was a good pun :P
- beaunewcomb, on 04/22/2008, -31/+4....Georgia? There's a country called Georgia?
- dannylewis, on 04/22/2008, -1/+16Yes...

- NoCt1, on 04/22/2008, -3/+6Ha.. Welcome to the planet.. nice.
- Wartz, on 04/22/2008, -1/+7This little man named Stalin was born there, maybe you've heard of him?
- tacojohn48, on 04/22/2008, -1/+1I watch the news. Fox news counts, right?
- OneLess, on 04/22/2008, -2/+4Yeah, there's a world outside the United States too.
Incidentally, Stalin was born in Georgia.- ofathens, on 04/22/2008, -0/+4Don't bother; he probably doesn't know who Stalin was.
- DaviDaviDaviD, on 04/22/2008, -6/+27Looks legit to me, don't read the YouTube comments btw, you will loose brain cells.
- illegalcortex, on 04/22/2008, -1/+30Will reading the digg comments tighten them back up?
- rayraym0fucka, on 04/22/2008, -6/+1I must have read your comment about 10 times wonder what the ***** you meant by tightening them up. Alas, I need to open my eyes :p
- jstone, on 04/22/2008, -0/+3DaviDaviDaviD said 'loose' instead of 'lose'. It's a common mistake, but illegalcortex's response has to be the funniest response to poor spelling I've seen.
- rayraym0fucka, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1 I didn't notice the "loose" at first

- CedEx, on 04/22/2008, -0/+1DaviDaviDavi has already been affected by YouTube comments... the plague will soon spread.

- rudy23, on 04/22/2008, -5/+49Its a tragic incident. But I must say that the video rocks.
Oh wait no one died. What a great video.- dullnation, on 04/22/2008, -0/+20Hey, that drone had 5 kids to feed.
- davidamerland, on 04/22/2008, -0/+4and a sleek leer jet mistress!!!!
- dullnation, on 04/22/2008, -0/+20Hey, that drone had 5 kids to feed.
- greeniemeani, on 04/22/2008, -21/+13In Soviet Russia, jet attacks YOU!
- hellosaysme, on 04/22/2008, -1/+1seriously, how many people in America do you see attacking jets? Really, come on.
- davidamerland, on 04/22/2008, -1/+1Happens all the time but you know it is seriously under-reported!
- Rxbrent, on 04/23/2008, -1/+1HA! Is that a Yakov Smirnoff joke? Classic!
- Heavypettingzoo, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1it didnt happen in Russia, foo'
- Intamin, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1So, uh, that usually happens everywhere, bud.

- pook448, on 04/22/2008, -9/+1definitely thought it was the state.
- waspinator, on 04/22/2008, -15/+4DEATH TO RUSSIA!
- matlock, on 04/22/2008, -12/+43At least America has the moral high ground to stop a world power from attacking an innocent nation.
Oh wait.- SteelChicken, on 04/22/2008, -21/+11at least America tries instead of sitting around bitching all the time but not actually doing anything (Euros)
- silentboom, on 04/22/2008, -1/+9it is against our Constitution to "try". Our leaders can give opinions and become friends and lead by example, but we cannot intervene. This is the mistake we make in the middle east, Vietnam, etc, etc ,etc. It is no different than kicking in your neighbor's door and sweeping the floor for them. None of our business.
- mirunit, on 04/22/2008, -9/+3Because this article has alot to do with America.
- bradleyland, on 04/22/2008, -3/+10Well, considering the extent to which America operates militarily outside its borders, I'd say it's extremely relevant. How can we condemn other nations for carrying out such attacks when we are operating so aggressively in the middle east?
- mirunit, on 04/22/2008, -2/+1This was a Georgian press release, not an American one.
- bradleyland, on 04/23/2008, -0/+3But what is your point?
- mirunit, on 04/22/2008, -2/+1This was a Georgian press release, not an American one.

- cvrefugee, on 04/22/2008, -0/+5Ask France and Germany why these opposed Georgia and Ukraine from entering NATO, while the U.S. government supported them.
- Dustmuffins, on 04/23/2008, -1/+1"innocent"
lawl

- davidamerland, on 04/22/2008, -0/+2And you definitely need Iceman to be your wingman!
- Vermogen, on 04/22/2008, -12/+4IF you look close you can see it was George Bush flying the Mig29.
- davidamerland, on 04/22/2008, -0/+2In that case he would have bombed Georgia USA by mistake!
- ikcilabd, on 04/22/2008, -13/+3am I the only one who thought this meant the Russian linebacker on the New York Jets tackling a guy on the Falcons?
- fatlip, on 04/22/2008, -1/+8probably
- kenrayd, on 04/22/2008, -14/+0Just another little former communist commonwealth squabble - the only real threat to world stability is the continued highjacking of earth by fallen angels. The big question is: who's side are you on in the spiritual battle? - the one that really matters.
- Andyschism, on 04/22/2008, -1/+7Hey guys I found one! Be careful! Bat ***** insane religious digg trolls can spit venom at their prey from a distance of 2 meters.
- kenrayd, on 04/22/2008, -6/+0It's actually anti-venom Andy. You should try it. You got things all twisted.

- slickstar, on 04/22/2008, -6/+11funny how the Georgian president talked up bout UN violation etc., first thing came to my mind was US invasion of Iraq
- ErikHarrison, on 04/22/2008, -1/+4Great, more conflict.... :(
- archivist, on 04/22/2008, -7/+2as far as i know how it works, if you violate an air space, the country has the right to defend itself thus it issues a warning. if it does not recieve any feedback from the suspecting air craft, it has the right to defend its airspace. the plane is unmanned, and this might have been the reason why it was attacked.
on a side note, if you look at the beginning of the clip, the unmanned plane's POV is pointing at the land below, certainly observing the terrain.- Gridl0ck, on 04/22/2008, -2/+10You do get that this was a Georgian UAV in Georgian airspace, right?
Also - anybody else spot the very English "MASTER CAUTION" after the feed died? Something tells me this tech originated the other side of the Atlantic - wonder how Putin feels about that.- BabyWookie, on 04/22/2008, -1/+3The people who live in Abkhazia do not consider their air-space to be "Georgian air-space". If the Russians stopped protecting them, they would be slaughtered.
Also, these drones are provided by the US, free of charge. Our tax-payer dollars at work.

- ahuxley, on 04/22/2008, -5/+1Only the IDF would do that :-)
- zolf, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1Too small target, too much difference in air speed.
- rohitkumbhar, on 04/22/2008, -3/+4Mig 29 FTW! Bad for the drone though!

Be happy its not Transnistria.
They still have a few radioactive Alazan warheads in stock (built for "weather" experiments). - Smurph0404, on 04/22/2008, -9/+8Come on people, I thought this was digg. I've yet to see someone explain why this is really Bush's fault.
- slickstar, on 04/22/2008, -2/+1shut up DH
- silentboom, on 04/22/2008, -1/+1Well if Bush stayed out of it, then he did the right thing. It's what he campaigned on in 2000. Americans don't remember back that far though. They only remember back to Taylor Hicks.
- mrgreenjeans, on 04/22/2008, -6/+5The real story is at 1:20, old men walk arm in arm in Georgia.

- annenk38, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1The only thing keeping Abkhazian population from being massacred is the presence of Russian conscripts (the ones to poor to bribe their way out of service). With the price of crude near $130, the Russia's imperial standing is the least concern for oligarchs currently in power.
- withremote, on 04/22/2008, -7/+2don't mess with Russia
- tucsonwc, on 04/22/2008, -2/+10Our UAV is online! Oh Wait.

- ukblacknight, on 04/22/2008, -0/+6I couldn't hear the video as I'm at work, but, does it mention who's air space the UAV was in?
Other than that, sweet video- kashk5, on 04/22/2008, -1/+6Georgia's. The MiG was violating Georgian airspace
- BabyWookie, on 04/22/2008, -0/+2The Abkhazians would disagree. The drone was spying on the Russia-protected, Georgian break-way, separatist region of Abkhazia.
- RockSlice, on 04/22/2008, -0/+2The river visible at the beginning of the video is this one: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=42.587846,41.50 ...
Quite far into Georgia, actually- mooninite, on 04/23/2008, -0/+1Why does Google have street names for every country but Georgia? Georgia looks very densely populated by just zooming around.
- kashk5, on 04/22/2008, -1/+6Georgia's. The MiG was violating Georgian airspace
- defwheezer, on 04/22/2008, -0/+7I wonder if SkyNet will get pissed about this affront to one of it's drones? Our self aware AI will not tolerate this kind of aggression from mere flesh puppets!
/relax, its just some SF hyperbole- davidamerland, on 04/22/2008, -0/+1SkyNet is toying with us, assessing our puny capabilities to retaliate before it decides to enslave all flesh puppets and use our skulls for soccer and as trophies for those Predators that come to distant jungle regions each summer.
