Georgia calls back troops from Iraq amid fighting
rawstory.com — Georgia's president says the country is calling home its troops from Iraq amid heavy fighting in the breakaway province of South Ossetia. Georgia has 2,000 troops serving with the coalition forces in Iraq, making it the third-largest contributor after the United States and Britain.

Georgia is backed (baked?) by US:
Ossetia X Georgia conflict = war by 3rd parties between US & Russia
Probably there is some Oil around!!- yellowcakewalk, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4Proxy wars in the finest Viet Nam tradition.
- CoolHandLuke70, on 08/09/2008, -1/+1Should be over fairly quick unless the U.S. gets involved and then the ***** hits the fan. Russia does not play around when they mention using nukes against us which they have on several occasions that they WILL use nukes against us.

- Fangsinmybeard, on 08/08/2008, -1/+9This is a lopsided affair. The Georgians don't have a hope in hell of getting any mercy. Putin is a damn liar, just like Bush and Cheney.
- MarkEarhart, on 08/08/2008, -0/+9Guess they haven't had enough senseless killing yet.
- syncomm, on 08/08/2008, -0/+5Georgia is trying to get the U.S. to provide transport to bring their troops home. I wonder how our involvement will impact Russian relations with the West. With the tensions over missile defense and now Georgia, we are close to a major confrontation -- perhaps the biggest since the end of the Cold War.
- principle, on 08/08/2008, -1/+4Georgia will try to drag US and Europe into this mess. Unfortunately for all of us, Bush is only too eager to start more trouble, and this small incident could lead to resurrection of the Cold War. But then, Bush has been trying to do that for some time now.
- siszam, on 08/09/2008, -0/+2US Special Forces have been training Georgian soldiers since 2002. Our troops are still there and now Georgia attacks Russia. Not the other way around. Georgia doesn't have to "drag" us into anything. The U.S. is the one doing the dragging.
