Tune into the live Digg townhall tonight at 5:00pm PST/8:00pm EST.
Gaza - the "Largest Concentration Camp on Earth"
backspin.typepad.com — Journalist and activist Lauren Booth says Gaza is a humanitarian tragedy on the scale of Darfur, then proves it with this stunning photo from a Gaza convenience store.

- Tanktunker, on 09/15/2008, -0/+6I live in Israel, and I still have a CRT.
:( - mashimka, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2I want to live there!
- mfeil, on 09/16/2008, -1/+2This is a food shortage?
- adiggida, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2This is gonna get dugg by a lot of people who won't get the point of the article and pic.
- writie, on 09/16/2008, -2/+1Here's a pretty balanced view of things since the withdrawal and the blockade:

Corruption, in-fighting, Israeli bombing and a threatened invasion; it's not a pretty place to live in. Implying otherwise is childish.- MacBigot, on 09/18/2008, -0/+1In large part, it's the bed the Palestinians made for themselves. Failure to acknowledge that is childish.
- writie, on 09/19/2008, -1/+1That still leaves the air, sea and land blockade as the largest part, WADR.
- MacBigot, on 09/22/2008, -0/+1It also leaves kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit in the hands of the same terrorists who rain down rockets on civilian targets in Israel daily… situations the Palestinian authorities seem powerless to remedy. Perhaps if Palestinians can ever restore law and order among their own people, their lot in life will improve.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilad_Shalit - writie, on 09/22/2008, -0/+1When's the last time they "rained down"? Daily, you say? As in today and yesterday and presumably tomorrow, or is there another use of "daily" that I'm missing? I can't see any missiles in today's or yesterday's press. I notice the border is sitll closed despite the ceasefire, however.
Hamas actually attacked the clan that is apparently responsible for Shalit's capture, for what that's worth.
I agree that Booth could have taken a moment to mention Shalit. It would have been a positive step. Let's see if Paul McCartney mentions the thousands of Palestinian prisoners from the stage at Tel Aviv.

- frofisrael, on 09/18/2008, -1/+3Pictures speak louder than words. They're living the good life but they'd rather murder themselves alongwith as many Jews as possible, than admit it. Why do they need to go to paradise when they're already there. O I get it, there are not enough 70 virgins for each old lech in the Hamas/Fatah leadership.
- writie, on 09/21/2008, -0/+1Spite is a bitter fruit.
- JFJAW, on 09/22/2008, -0/+1Sunday, September 21 2008: "Lauren Booth left Gaza for Egypt via the Rafah crossing on Saturday. According to AFP:
http://backspin.typepad.com/backspin/2008/09/laure ...
That's good news.
Now after her "month-long stay [that] didn't include a single public gesture or show of support for Gaza's other famous foreigner, Gilad Shalit", Lauren Booth is highly recommended to avoid visiting, during her forthcoming stay in Egypt, places that she would not understand their meaning i.e. Pyramids of Ancient Egypt.
As a great supportive to liars-extremist-violent people like Gaza’s, Lauren Booth is highly recommended to inaugurate her stay in Egypt by visiting another extremist-wing, owner of "Islam is the solution" slogan i.e. Muslim brotherhood.
If Lauren Booth would like to continue her trip in the wonderful land of backwardness i.e. Arab-Regime-world, please advise her not to hesitate to contact me:
