Gays protest gay behavior ban at private Christian Colleg
thestate.com — The university student handbook states that "certain behaviors are expressly prohibited in Scripture and therefore are to be avoided by members of the University community. These include theft, gambling, lying, ... profanity, vulgarity, sexual promiscuity (including adultery, homosexual behavior, premarital sex, and pornography)...

- Christianptriot, on 10/08/2008, -4/+3What this is about is a private, Christian college being protested by gays because the Christian college chooses to follow God's word as they believe it. If the gays do not like this, they should try another college.
I will bet that if this situation escalates into a court case, some liberal set of judges will defend the rights of the gays OVER the First Amendment Rights of the private college.- Hetman, on 10/08/2008, -0/+3It depends. Do they recieve money from the state. I went to a private catholic college. But they still recieved certian amount of money from our state and federal government. Therefor they cannot discriminate against students of different faiths or lack their of. But I will agree with you if all there money is recieved through private donations and tuition.
- Christianptriot, on 10/09/2008, -0/+2Good point about receiving federal dollars.
ALL the more reason for churches to stay out of teh federal programs that involve receiving any.

- Hetman, on 10/08/2008, -0/+3It is private so I really do not care. That is if they get all of their money through their own finances. If they do have grants from the government then they cannot ban certain behaviors. But anyways can Simone say lamest college experience ever.
- drachemorder, on 10/08/2008, -3/+1Well, if you want to be *really* technical, you could drop the "homosexual behavior" clause from the handbook and not change the meaning at all. Extramarital sex is still banned, after all, and I'm sure the definition of marriage understood by this college would certainly not include homosexuality.
- lydecker, on 10/08/2008, -0/+7It seems to me that "homosexual behavior" would go further than that, to include many more, if not all, expressions of homosexual orientation... such as an abstinent homosexual couple, flirting, holding hands, kissing, etc. But if it is a completely private institution, it has the right to discriminate against whatever behaviors it likes.
- Pitofdoom, on 10/08/2008, -4/+1State and Federal taxation is used to coerce the entire society.
Force the courts to rule on established law, not legislate new ones.
Reduce government to it's constitutional responsibilities,
obtaining it's financial resources thru tariffs & sales taxes.
Remove gov's. direct hand out of the pockets of "we the people",
then an argument about who pays or who can or can't means something ! - kayala, on 10/09/2008, -0/+4Meh. It's a private Christian school, and it's not even unfair in prohibiting gay sex; the school requires all its students, regardless of orientation, to be sexually repressed! That's as close as you're going to get in an exclusively Christian community.
