- iticu, on 04/20/2008, -2/+2Yeah, all Christians are the devil.
They all want to molest kids, delve in prostitution and then tell everyone else to go to hell. Why doesn;t anyone see this except Diggers?! It's so obvious!

- robdiggity, on 04/20/2008, -1/+6Fair enough. I shall never again use the single example of Christ to represent Christians.

- Ozzsanity, on 04/20/2008, -10/+22Most Christians are hypocrites. Jesus is love-I hate those queers.
Jesus is love-I hate those pro choicers. Jesus is love-I hate those Muslims- WarWraith, on 04/20/2008, -4/+19Most *people* are hypocrites. You generally don't have to dig very deep for examples.
- masterm1nd, on 04/20/2008, -11/+4You're an ignorant idiot. Probably 1 in 50 Christians "hate those queers", less than the general population in fact. Not only is that false, you ironically (use of hypocrite) perpetuate hate against Christians.
- sparkleton, on 04/20/2008, -1/+3Dugg down for questionable ratios.
- masterm1nd, on 04/20/2008, -2/+1Why wouldn't you digg down the guy saying most Christians hate queers. I'm just trying to say we're all human and want to see evidence when you say something like Christians "hate queers".
- sparkleton, on 04/20/2008, -1/+3Dugg down for questionable ratios.
- skulljar, on 04/20/2008, -6/+3Christians are not supposed to hate things. They can stand up for their beliefs, but that doesn't mean hating. They can be righteously indignant, but this is only in instances where someone is actively antagonizing them during worship or something; like try running into my church during the sermon and yelling BONG HITS FOR JESUS and you will see some righteous indignation (and a few pistols tool) Ooh-rah.
- bjornski, on 04/20/2008, -2/+3And a few pistols?

- WarWraith, on 04/20/2008, -2/+13No, most atheists, like most Christians, are people. Some are stupid, some are hypocrites and some are superb examples of the best this world has to offer.
- GGoldberry, on 04/20/2008, -0/+5Amen. Pssst Secret Atheist Orgy at my place at 10. Don't forget to bring your own fetus for the BBQ!
- hmunkey, on 04/20/2008, -0/+1The scientists who increased your life expectancy from 20-80 were most likely Atheists.
- BossKey, on 04/20/2008, -1/+31Atheists don't make as many sweeping claims to moral superiority, therefore they are not as hypocritical. Christians set the bar higher, then make choices that result in FAIL.
- Emnsta, on 04/20/2008, -4/+3Atheists do claim moral superiority, like on Digg, why are religions being bashed so much? The Atheists must think their thinking is better, correct?
/Atheist, but definitely not religion bashing- banmaster, on 04/20/2008, -2/+6Thinking is better period!!! Christians DON'T think, itys the whole basis for their belief.
If they did think for a second they'd see it for the sham and the blight on humanity that it is!
- banmaster, on 04/20/2008, -2/+6Thinking is better period!!! Christians DON'T think, itys the whole basis for their belief.
- Emnsta, on 04/20/2008, -4/+3Atheists do claim moral superiority, like on Digg, why are religions being bashed so much? The Atheists must think their thinking is better, correct?
- zen4444, on 04/20/2008, -1/+7A bad atheist would be one who sometimes, in a moment of weakness, believes in a god. Atheism is not a religion, it does not make any moral claims that its adherents have to live up to. It is simply the denial of god. So good luck with finding that "bad" atheist.
- Psygonn, on 04/20/2008, -0/+3This is just a news story.
- Ozzsanity, on 04/20/2008, -10/+22Most Christians are hypocrites. Jesus is love-I hate those queers.
- Jovensdesciple, on 04/20/2008, -28/+20There are examples of every type of person being an *****. This is just a big news story because its a christian doing something wrong. Secular progressives approve of doing stuff like that so it's not a big deal when they get caught... and they do get caught ***** of times, only you never read about it on digg.
- WarWraith, on 04/20/2008, -15/+8Don't say something level-headed and *rational* ... this is Digg, you'll get dugg down for not christian-bashing.

(christian bash so I dont get dugg down)

- TheMoniker, on 04/20/2008, -2/+20I agree with you that there are examples of every type of person being an *****.
However, I'm not sure that secular, progressive people really approve of people in authority using that authority to acquire sex from desperate people, especially where the education system is concerned.- formido, on 04/20/2008, -3/+0Well, they should. She had something he wanted and vice versa. I don't see why what he had to offer is any worse than anything else that's offered for sex. And something is ALWAYS exchanged for sex. What if he just offered her $300? Now it's not him "using that authority" blah, blah. Are you against legal prostitution? You're as bad as the Christians!
- TheMoniker, on 04/20/2008, -0/+1I'm not sure if you're being serious. I'll assume that you are.
First, I didn't present my own views in that statement. For all you know, I'm completely against people who are secular progressives in every possible way. What I was making was essentially an existence claim for a set of people who would qualify as secular progressives and who would also take exception to the fellow's actions. I think that it's pretty obvious that such a group exists (the contributing writers to and majority readership of Feministing would be an example, note that this isn't an endorsement of their views on my part). I'm guessing that you would concede this point.
Second, it's not entirely clear that something is always exchanged for sex. Could you demonstrate this claim? Please don't fall back upon, "it's just true" or "because I said so" as these don't qualify as valid evidence for such an assertion.
Third, I'm not against legalizing prostitution (for a variety of reasons ranging from the protection and safety of the workers to women's rights issues and public health concerns).
Fourth, I know it was just a thoughtless ad hominem, but I'd like to know how my comment somehow makes me, "as bad as the Christians."
Fifth, I'd like to know if you acknolwledge a difference between those agreements that are reached under coercion/under exploitive circumstances and those that aren't. If so, then why do you believe that this circumstance is not in the former category. - TheMoniker, on 04/20/2008, -0/+0Rather: "If so, then why do you believe that this circumstance is not in the former category?"
- TheMoniker, on 04/20/2008, -0/+1I'm not sure if you're being serious. I'll assume that you are.
- TheMoniker, on 04/20/2008, -0/+0Ah, just now caught that missed question mark at the end. Meh, it's late.
- formido, on 04/20/2008, -3/+0Well, they should. She had something he wanted and vice versa. I don't see why what he had to offer is any worse than anything else that's offered for sex. Obama's a Christian so if you bash Christians you must be a Clinton supporter and everyone knows she is an immoral liar and a hypocrite so you must be one too.- skulljar, on 04/20/2008, -0/+2God works in mysterious ways, let me tell ya.

- fxu1989, on 04/20/2008, -21/+6Damn snitch >:(
Let the guy have his sex ... If you have any dignity, just say no and move on.
If you don't wanna have sex to enroll your kids, pay the enrollment and then sue him for sexual harrassment.- fxu1989, on 04/20/2008, -12/+2So I guess I'm the only who thinks that way.... aaaaanyways...
bury me- formido, on 04/20/2008, -0/+1Not at all. But, fundamentally, most people, Christians and non-Christians alike, share a pretty moralistic view of sex, so you'll always get this sort of reaction.
- ahale97, on 04/20/2008, -0/+9If you had any dignity you wouldn't have posted that comment.
If you didn't want to look like a jackass you could have just dugg the article and moved on.

I'm sorry... what? - travis1982, on 04/20/2008, -1/+4Yea sorry buddy...but the catholic church doesn't recognize American Christianity, baptist, church of latter day saints...whatever ***** up knock-offs you guys have...not saying Catholicism is any better though...all religions suck balls.
- KimonoThief, on 04/20/2008, -1/+0http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity#Roman_Ca ...
Seems you're wrong.- travis1982, on 04/20/2008, -0/+1then how do you explain that episode of the Simpson where the baptist community doesn't except Catholicism? Ok in the broader sense, Christianity is considered Catholicism. But Evangelical Christianity and all the subgroups, or whatever you want to call them, doesn't recognize the pope as their messenger to god. Google it dude, I'm telling ya.
- Abaddon1125, on 04/20/2008, -1/+11"The Pope isn't Christian last i checked"
- masterm1nd, on 04/20/2008, -7/+2Ok, a few than idiot. It's still less than the general population (you). What do you have to say now that it's in accurate perspective?
- sipofsoma, on 04/20/2008, -1/+3Yeah! You general population folks have all the sex! Absolutely sickening...
Actually, if we are talking ratios, i'm pretty sure catholic priests are among the top (if not the top) of professions containing child molesters.
Not to mention the fact that they are supposed to be all righteous and doing the work of god and being followers of jebus and whatnot.- masterm1nd, on 04/20/2008, -2/+1That's fine if you make the claim, just dont do it because you hate them, and cite your sources. But you don't have any sources, do you.
- ICSU, on 04/20/2008, -0/+1It's hard to find sources that they are actually righteous. You are right about that.

- bjornski, on 04/20/2008, -1/+6It's not "one perv" that's bankrupting the parishes due to sex-abuse scandals, which the current Pope might apologize for, while he shuffles the offender off to a new buffet to pick from, instead of turning them over to the authorities to be punished like any other citizen would be.
"one perv". Yeah, right.- formido, on 04/20/2008, -1/+1I believe the point of the comment was to not extrapolate to the whole set from the characteristics of too small a sample. In fact, Catholic priests is also a statistically insignificant sample of all Christians. Moreover, there are characteristics of the set Catholic priest that make them particularly different from usual Christians that might lead them to engage in sexual misconduct.
However, putting that aside, are you seriously claiming that Christians ask to trade money or authority for sex more often than other sets of people? If you truly think this, you're incredibly naive.

- bossm4n, on 04/20/2008, -0/+2Maybe, but he's an incredible investigative journalist. Wayne Dolcefino has been with that same station for probably 25 years and he's a bulldog. I'm continually impressed by the fact that he goes after government corruption and wasteful spending at all levels. Just recently he's been exposing a county commissioners inappropriate spending habits and work ethic. He has hours of footage of this guy doing everything except working while supposedly on the clock. And he goes right after them, pulling no punches, just like this video.

I know some christian people in my life and I am amazed at the dedication they have to their faith. It's amazing. They abide all laws from their religion and in our society. They even eat chicken and fish. I'm talking about people like the ***** Flanders. I have them for neighbors, good people.
But I don't believe in a God. And if there was a god and all almighty, he would not care who I have sex with, whether I drink alcohol or not, and Him punishing me by burning me in hell if I don't believe in Him.
Anyways I'm about drunk now 12:30AM. I got some advice for you people. Drunken thoughts make sober words.- Pake, on 04/20/2008, -5/+8Erm, if you read the bible, they really don't abide by all the laws. Christianity is like a pick and choose sort of religion. If it wasn't, selling your daughter into slavery and stoning a disobedient child to death would never make the news. Now yes, I realize I'm picking out the worst aspects, but they are none-the less in the bible and were consider laws of the religion. It's literally impossible to follow the laws of the bible completely without winding up in jail today.
- nosecohn, on 04/20/2008, -1/+3There's a big difference between the Old Testament (which includes the stuff from your example) and the New Testament (which Christians follow). Apparently God didn't quite get it all right the first time, so he had to go back and make a few tweaks.

- blackjack75, on 04/20/2008, -0/+2The fact that christians repress normal sexuality is the very reason of this kind of events. Making it a deadly sin just makes it so much more exciting.
- fatcatman, on 04/20/2008, -1/+0The "Christians" that repress sexuality are not following the Bible, which is extremely open and encouraging toward sex within the covenant of marriage, including a graphic portrayal of oral sex (Song of Songs). Sex is one, alcohol is another - Jesus turned water into wine all throughout the Bible and you're telling me I'm an evil sinner if I have a drink?
As far as I'm concerned, the church has twisted and perverted Christianity into a legalistic list of "Thou Shalt Nots" which have no valid basis in the teachings of the Bible.

This hypocrisy drives us to admitting our depravity and accepting that we are powerless on our own to get any better. In my experience, people who don't believe in Christianity usually believe instead in some other spiritual BS that is similarly irrational. Some people seem to live in a sort of fantasy wherein they think that folks not believing in Christianity (or other religions) would suddenly cause them to become rational. The difference is that they recognize and accept their wrong doings, and should try to conduct themselves better. We all fall short, what we do after is what should define us.
When Digg uses this as an opportunity to bash Christianity, you need to realise that the religion itself doesn't promote these sort of events. You can provide all the excerpts from Leviticus you want, but the overwhelming message of Christianity is (or should be) tolerance, respect, and morality.
Yeah, I'm going to get buried. I just want this stupid ignorance and intolerance to stop.- Lurline, on 04/20/2008, -1/+10Dugg because I do, for the most part, agree with what you are saying. However, my problem is when people tout themselves as being more moral or virtuous than others simply because they are Christian, Muslim, Hindu, etc.
Yes the perfect Christian/etc does not exist, but this man was preying on that woman. He knew that there was something that she needed and he could give it to her. (And to be honest, who knows how many times he has done it in the past.) Instead of doing the moral thing and simply working something out (that didn't involve bartering for sex), he decided to go the other route.
Yes Christianity doesn't support these sorts of things... but once a religion or religious people decide that it's going to hold some sort of higher moral ground over other people while not "practicing what they preach," they deserve to have their ***** called out and be bashed into the ground. Hypocrisy, in any form, should not be tolerated.- formido, on 04/20/2008, -1/+1Exactly. You know who else I hate like this? Philosophers who specialize in ethics. I would have agreed with you 100% if it weren't for the creation of the universe. To really try to imagine matter suddenly coming into existence really is the definition of a god-like act to me.. it's everything /after that/ that I have a problem with believing.
- hybridjosto, on 04/20/2008, -2/+1true, and some are even more so, however no matter how much we 'sin' God has already forgiven us. Imaginary is a bit harsh. Can you see the wind? No. But surely we're all not imagining it because we can see the effects that it has on the things surrounding us. The same is true of God it's just that some people choose to be ignorant of these effects.
