- aaleksey, on 11/13/2009, -0/+15Funny part for those who track Russian affairs:
...
3. Vladimir Putin
...
42. Igor Sechin
43. Dmitry Medvedev
...
According to constitution of the country it should be in the order of 43, 3, 42. The fact that Forbes placed Sechin ahead of Medvedev is especially hilarious. Medvedev is the president of the country, head of the executive branch of government, Sechin is deputy prime minister, he's way below the president in the official hierarchy. The sad truth is that Forbes is likely to be right. - BarryMcCawqiner, on 11/13/2009, -1/+15And putting Oprah above some of the others is a stretch. She is more powerful than the president of France? Really? REALLY?

- letsgetlost, on 11/13/2009, -1/+11the ads on that website (especially) suck

- colonelcupcake, on 11/13/2009, -1/+6It makes me sad to see Oprah on here
- SAc0balt, on 11/13/2009, -1/+6Of course not! When you're that powerful, the last thing you want is for the general public to realize it.
- BrokenCircle, on 11/13/2009, -0/+5Remember, these are only the people you know about.
- heynow21, on 11/13/2009, -2/+6I can't get past the ad to see the article. And yes I spotted the "close", but nothing loads after it.
- ydobonobody, on 11/13/2009, -3/+7Dang. I was hoping i made the list this year.
- ScooterNRocket, on 11/13/2009, -0/+4Why are Sergey and Larry grouped together or married when they arent married and yet Bill and Hilary are split when they are married ?
- Codik, on 11/13/2009, -0/+4I stopped reading after:
3. Vladimir Putin
4. Ben S. Bernanke
Come on! No question about Obama being nb 1, and why not acknowledge that leading 1.3 billion people makes you powerful, but then be coherent. If the leader of China is number 2, then the leader of India should be number 3.
And if Putin is number 3, than all second level leaders from countries with a stronger military, nuclear weapons, bigger economies and veto at the UN council should be ahead (ie France and the UK). And I would argue that leaders from the 8 countries or so with a bigger economy should be ahead too. - BrokenCircle, on 11/13/2009, -1/+5Because Hillary hasn't put out in years.
- 42Vindictive, on 11/13/2009, -0/+4Did anyone else notice that every description was just absolutely full of jarring text and sentence fragments? Did they even proofread this?
- hankydysplasia, on 11/13/2009, -0/+4And I think Hillary Clinton at 17 is really high. How much power, right now, does she actually hold on the whole world? She might not even be 17 in the U.S.
- AmnesiacJack, on 11/13/2009, -2/+6She does control a gigantic population of non-thinking consumers willing to spend their money on what ever she tells them to...
- Elranzer, on 11/13/2009, -0/+369. MrBabyMan
- maliath, on 11/13/2009, -1/+4Well, at least one drug lord made the list
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joaquin_Guzman - shdwfx, on 11/13/2009, -3/+6What a bunch of nonsense.
For one, quite US centric; probably no surprise considering it's from Forbes. But then...
Brin/Page: They're in the limelight, but what power do they actually have?
Li Changchun: So he's the "propaganda" guy. Why not put that label to Murdock too?
Dalai Lama: Again, what power does he have? Spiritual head of what, 5 million? He has exactly as much leeway as the Chinese give him.
Sarokzy: Commanding the world's 5th most powerful military or so, way behind Kim Jong Il?
And notably missing, for example:
Viktor Zubkow, head of Gazprom. Ask any Ukrainian about the power he wields.
Zapatero: Prime minister of Spain, not good enough? But Netanyahu is?
This list is about as braindead as any other "world's best" or "world's worst" lists. - creamenator, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1Where are the Reptile overlords?

- seshomarusamma, on 11/13/2009, -1/+2Fans of conspiracy theories will be disappointed to find very few (if any) Jews in the list. Supposedly they control the economy, the media, the government or whatever. But I guess they will find a conspiracy theory to explain that
- NuWeb, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1This is very wrong, Priminister of Italy is more powrful than Gordon Brown Priminister of the United Kingdom. ha!

- brad3378, on 11/13/2009, -8/+8Ever notice that the Alex Jones crowd hates the Rockefellers & Rothchilds yet these same people defend these elite families when it comes to raising tax rates on the top 1% of the rich?
I have to side with President Obama. I don't think they pay enough in taxes. If they own 95% of our country's wealth, they should probably be paying close to 95% of our taxes. - AlyxVance, on 11/13/2009, -5/+5bilderbergs
- TheMachine1, on 11/13/2009, -2/+2Anyone with a video of a person on that list sucking off a horse would be a perfect example of what you are talking about.

- pagno, on 11/13/2009, -4/+4Rockefellers funded eugenics.

They dont oppose raising taxes on the rich. They oppose raising taxes on anyone. They think the government is, in many ways, in collusion with the enormously powerful international banks, and are working towards a 1984 scenario(NWO). The Patriot Act, in many ways, doesnt help this theory, neither does Bush's grandfather, Presscott Bush, attempting a coup in the 30s.

- ScooterNRocket, on 11/13/2009, -1/+0Yeh but Netanyahu has a bitch with a lot of bombs aka the US. Its seems like the golden child can do no wrong, always has 100% backing and the real question is why ? Which world leader has had more visits with Obama than Netanyahu this year ?
