- Fhwqhgads, on 11/13/2009, -1/+13Just imagine what would happen to these guys if drugs were legalized and regulated like alcohol.
- amazed, on 11/13/2009, -0/+10"Mexico kingpin among world's most powerful"
sometimes crime pays - jrm125, on 11/13/2009, -1/+11Laundry truck eh? Someone should've told the guys on Prison Break. It'd have been a much quicker season.
- jsuther, on 11/13/2009, -1/+9Correct but I don't see the Democrats repealing drugs laws either. It's both their faults. Ending prohibition needs to be pushed as an issue in both parties. If it stays a red vs. blue issue it will never get done.
- jsuther, on 11/13/2009, -1/+7The kingpin will crumple down if drugs were legalized tomorrow. Drug treatment on the few percent of society predisposed to addiction is much cheaper and less deadly than fighting a endless war on drugs.
- wacked, on 11/13/2009, -0/+6Context. Learn it you troll.
- smashTasker, on 11/13/2009, -3/+8It was the republican party's "War on Drugs" that made him that powerful.
- PsychoDaaad, on 11/13/2009, -2/+5hmm.....comparing progress from an 8 year term to an 11 month term......k
- dbdev, on 11/13/2009, -5/+8Reason #291 why you should never go to Mexico.

- kurupttek, on 11/13/2009, -3/+5Cool story Bro
- villavicencio, on 11/13/2009, -0/+2Although it helps bring things into perspective it almost feels wrong including him in a list like this.
- Fhwqhgads, on 11/13/2009, -1/+3Cigarette companies don't gun people down in violent gang wars.
Cigarette users don't get thrown in jail.
Cigarette companies pay millions in taxes to the government.
Cigarette companies have regulations to abide by. - techdever, on 11/13/2009, -0/+2I mean that would happen if drugs were legalized. Companies selling drugs will become similar to cigarette companies.
- wacked, on 11/13/2009, -0/+2I didn't think you'd get it, and you didn't. How sad.
- techdever, on 11/13/2009, -1/+3the same as what happens to cigarette companies? Lots of money?
- specialK16, on 11/13/2009, -4/+5I agree.
- BillE3, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1It is big business for congress and a lot of money to throw around, do you really believe congress wants to either win that war or end it?
- rif42, on 11/14/2009, -0/+1Forbes list of powerful people is a joke. It lists Mike Duke at #8. He may be rich and important in US, but outside of America it really matters nothing what he does or does not. The Italian pause-clown Berlusconi is listed at #12, but Merkel is #15. Whoever wrote that list had no sense of priority. The list is random.
- BillE3, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1The drug trade had to go to someone after the drug cartels in Columbia were taken apart. I am not surprised at all that a Mexican drug lord would rise to the top. We made sure the border was as porous as a sieve and then let the cartels put employees into the police and border patrol.
- stagl, on 11/14/2009, -0/+1GO WAR ON DRUGS!!! WOO!
- o0adam0o, on 11/13/2009, -2/+3lol wussies
- appleseed1234, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1Why the hell not put him on the list to humiliate us? I don't see how it's any different from the turn of the century when they called corrupt Congressmen "Senator of Standard Oil", "Senator of DuPont", etc.
- kingofearth2, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1It's the war on drugs that made him powerful, but don't act like the democrats haven't had their part. Obama laughed off the idea of legalization of weed earlier this year.
- Quisquis, on 11/14/2009, -0/+1Why is this in the image section?...
- plizard, on 11/13/2009, -3/+3stop stop stop!!
you're being racist!
don't speak about the world leader that way.
-hides- - EdgarG8, on 11/13/2009, -1/+1Never thought I'd see my last name so high up on the Forbes list. Unfortunately its not for something good.
- gumballer, on 11/13/2009, -1/+1http://digg.com/business_finance/Mexico_drug_lord_ ...
- kawikaho, on 11/13/2009, -0/+0I think I remember reading about this guy a long time ago in some magazine. They said he likes to ***** American beauty contestants, and is glad that we have 50 states to choose from. Anyone read that before?
- cupholder, on 11/13/2009, -1/+0Maybe if the retarded democrats would stop pandering to the irrational republicans, they could/would pass useful legislation.
Rather, they keep trying to appease people who will oppose them no matter what, and in the process they ruin everything they try to pass. - darkened, on 11/13/2009, -5/+3They put Obama as the worlds most powerful? What has this man been able to accomplish?
Bush did more in his "lame duck presidency" than this man has been able to accomplish with a unified democrat majority house and congress.
I'm glad he hasn't been able to achieve results because I agree with almost nothing that fool says but to rank him as the most powerful person in the world I find laughable. - DonAlfred, on 11/13/2009, -2/+0I don't believe.
- darkened, on 11/13/2009, -3/+1@cupholder so you admit the democratic party members are entirely ineffective leaders. Point well said.
- darkened, on 11/13/2009, -5/+2@PsychoDaaad, I did not compare his full presidency to Obama, I compared his "lame duck presidency" that occurred after Obama won the national vote but before he took the oath of office which was an even shorter duration than he's been president already.
- darkened, on 11/13/2009, -4/+1If there is any troll in this thread it is you, sir.
