- inactive, on 02/27/2009, -2/+17I cannot BELIEVE the excuse used here. "Uh, it is the search engines fault"?!?!?!
"Most contracts were awarded to excluded companies by mistake. However, the Army deliberately continued a contract with a German company, Optronic GmbH, whose president was convicted in Germany for attempting to illegally ship dual aluminum tubes to North Korea. The equipment can be used in the development of nuclear bombs."
Can we get some heads to rolling, PUHLEASE?!?!? - dkapuchino, on 02/27/2009, -0/+12FTA:
"Payments went to a company whose president tried to sell nuclear bomb parts to North Korea, a company that jeopardized lives on the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy, and a seller of body armor that the Air Force said was defective."
"The Government Accountability Office blamed some of the mistakes on faulty computer searches by officials who left out commas or periods."
We used to have a saying in the military. "There is no 'sorry' or 'please' in the army. There are only *****, and when you *****, you pay for it". - sultanknish, on 02/27/2009, -0/+12This really can't be allowed to continue
- americasleeps, on 02/28/2009, -0/+11You folks sick of this ***** yet? Anybody actually doing time yet? I can get caught with weed, not to distribute, and a gun, which where I live is like a happy meal item, and I'm faced with 15yrs. You will pay, is it now 50,000 a year to lock my ass up. There is no soft time for us. Now I can steal 1,000,000,000,000 US dollars and people seem to be ok with it. There has to be a point where you figure out racism hurts me, but hurts you a hell of a lot more.
- digi2k6, on 02/27/2009, -0/+10Doesn't surprise me at all... I work in logistics for a small government contractor dealing in IT. I see material bought by the government for ridiculous costs all the time; like $3000 for a single core, 2.0 Ghz Dell laptop. You can't tell me someone isn't making some money off a deal like that... We joke that every 50 we receive in buys a Lexus for some General's daughter.
- BlacklabelSAR, on 02/28/2009, -0/+9Corporatocracy
- Ymeg, on 02/27/2009, -0/+9Bureaucracy at its finest.
- orubinstein, on 02/28/2009, -2/+10When is the Obama administration is going to stop making empty promises and actually do something?
Obama is all talk. What's worse is people gobble up the ***** he spews. - GKang, on 02/28/2009, -0/+7My friends wife works for a government agency and they have outsourced their IT staff to save money (hehe) to a large defense contrator that outsourced it to a minor sub that outsourced to some rejects from the geek squad. They are charging 3 times what the in house rate was for less service and crappy equipment. Someone one somewhere must be getting rich off of this.
I do not see why the same darn computer on the dell site is different from federal government, state and local government and small business sites the numbers are change for the same rig WTF it is our tax dollars.
When is the OBAMA administration going to step up to the plate on this one. - inactive, on 02/27/2009, -1/+8Don't worry- it's just taxpayers money. Luckily for us, there's a never ending supply, so it makes little sense to oversee its use. The bulk of the money is being used wisely. So, we should not waste time worrying about such a small percentage. /s
LOL No *****, I just read a Google sponsored ad, it read: "I got a 12,000 dollar stimulus check in 7 days...get yours now!!!" Then it gave a link to some guys website. WTF?!?!? - badfish0116, on 02/27/2009, -2/+8Quick someone write a letter to Obama! Surely he will not stand for this corruption!
- SteveTheSultan, on 02/28/2009, -0/+5Yep. You are correct sir.
- dkapuchino, on 02/27/2009, -1/+6In hebrew, the word `אחריות` (Achrayut) means both `Responsibility` and `Accountability`. Those two should ALWAYS go together.
P.S, this was not an invitation to divert another thread into becoming a discussion about Israel. Simply stating an interesting issue of how culture affects linguistics. - AlienMushroom, on 02/27/2009, -0/+5I doubt they can find it.
- diggduggjoe, on 02/28/2009, -0/+5Why do we accept poor performance from our government? Obama is still spending trillions for war. He continues to spend like a drunken sailor. He brings on a truckload of Clinton cronies. Yet, somehow we must see this as some new paradigm.
I am not a republican. I choose not to drink the Kool-Aid from either party. All the greeners talk about sustainability when it comes to mother earth, but never when it comes to basic economics. Inflation or our childrens' credit is not the solution to our ills. - DiggzDE, on 02/28/2009, -0/+5What ever happened to our government's "made in America" requirements for government procurement contracts? :(
Lame. - kaelyiesta, on 02/27/2009, -0/+4Government doesn't care and will continue such choices because government isn't 'buying' goods or services for itself from its own savings, rather it's 'buying' them for it's people from their savings. The only way government would care is if the people cared enough to take action against the governments decision.
The right incentive is just not there when government gets to make our decisions for us. - Ne007, on 02/27/2009, -0/+4sounds about right...
- Claverhouse, on 02/27/2009, -1/+5Meh; it's just part of the long, rich tradition of private contractors screwing the armed forces since the War Between The States.
- AlienMushroom, on 02/27/2009, -0/+4Google should build a better search engine for them.
- dkapuchino, on 02/27/2009, -0/+3Looks like a job for google desktop.
Search: "XYZ Corps, Lnc"
Did you mean "XYZ Corp. Inc."? - dkapuchino, on 02/27/2009, -0/+3I bet google is on the list.
- thelastczarnian, on 02/28/2009, -0/+3haha...that's a good one
- radicalchaos, on 02/27/2009, -0/+3Your tax money hard at work.
- pagno, on 02/28/2009, -0/+3That only applies to E-4 and below. E-5 and up get a free pass on any and all wrong doing.
- inactive, on 02/28/2009, -0/+3Blame this on the Democrats, they are the ones in office and if republicans were in office you would blame them and cry impeach etc
- roho76, on 02/28/2009, -0/+3Ahh!! The government doing what they do best, ***** up and squandering money through bureaucracy.
- inactive, on 02/28/2009, -0/+2Amen on both counts. Heads must roll for this to change, and the REAL problem is that we seem to think we can now pay-off a too-huge Visa bill with a Discover card.
- inactive, on 02/28/2009, -0/+2they should have used google.com
- diggduggjoe, on 02/28/2009, -3/+5"Change" at its finest.
The problem is everything has become a crisis and everyday good governance has been forgotten. - Savantgarde, on 02/27/2009, -1/+3"A hypothetical suspended company named XYZ Corp., Inc. - with a comma - would escape detection if one searched for XYZ Corp. Inc. - without the comma - the report said."
Looks like a job for Regex! - dkapuchino, on 02/27/2009, -1/+3That guy will charge you houndreds of dollars an hour, and leave you empy handed.
- aijazbaig1, on 03/01/2009, -0/+1CHANGE I CAN BELIEVE IN....
