- abid786, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7god...before you people at least wrote "photoshopped"....now you so lazy that you only write "pshopped"?!
- steger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4it's not photoshopped UndedOverlord and 10scott10, it was right behind the sign. There is only one mountain that the sign is on. There isn't another ridge for about 20 miles north.
I live nearby and it was crazy. The firefighters stopped it just before the ridge. It lasted about 5 hours or so before it was pretty much out. - ovni, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Much better pictures on flickr:
http://flickr.com/search/?q=hollywood+fire&z=t - elsalgo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Am I the only person that doesn't see a raging fire? I mean, come on, "Fire Erupts over the Hollywood Sign!"
all i see is a blanket of smoke. behind a hill, behind the sign. - 10scott10, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3well, the fire is about a mountain range over from the sign
sign ^ ^ fire
that is a map of that area of LA
as you can see two peaks are between the fire and the sign - stephenv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's Hollywood special effects. Don't worry, Tommy Lee Jones has ordered a squadron of helicopters carrying action heroes with water bottles to save the day.
- bigdt87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1darn...that would have been pretty epic to see the sign on fire.
- gameforge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sign is not on fire. There's no fire over the sign. Flame is not visible.
Inaccurate; buried. - VaporBro, on 10/26/2007, -1/+2"When Los Angeles is burrrrrrrrnin'.."
More a question than a curse; how can hell be any worse? - randf, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2burn baby burn. i wonder what the hollywood human exodus looks like...BMW, Mercedes, Land Rovers, all packed to the roof tops with bling. shouldn't it already be labelled for disaster aid?
- PlythonJ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You are so dramatic... This is what I saw, from where I was standing.. There was a fire about 200 feet away from the sign.. DOn't be so melodramatic... LOL!
- Detritus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I am amused that you're calling someone else out on being lazy; while you, yourself, do not employ normal punctuation or capitalization.
Pot, Kettle. Kettle, Pot. Try to play nice, no more black on black trolling. - PlythonJ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0LOL!! "a mountain range over".. LOL! Get a clue: This is right behind my house. I guess people who don't live where I DO, wouldn't get the possibility of such perspective... BTW: I hike this EVERY WEEK. The FIRE was about 200-500 feet from the sign. We had MAJOR protection, because below the sign, is basically ALL of Los Angeles. Hence, the fire NEVER got to the top. Luckily there were NO winds, otherwise this may have ended differently. FOR ME and my family, NOT YOU.
PS: It was in the national news. - PlythonJ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Undeadoverlord": get some photography skills, and less jealousy.. It's right from my Treo, direct to NowTHen.com. And the name is lame.
- PlythonJ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thank you for posting my picture! :) I have a few more over on NowThen.com of the fire too..
Thanks again!
Jeremiah Christopher - HoosbinPharteen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Ya it would have been a sign of things to come .................hollywood = dying. ................Like I said in the other story on this, lets set fire to the celebrities accidentally too.
- UndeadOverlord, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1seems somewhat pshopped
