Fire destroys 8 apartments in Mesa

San Jose St. Miguel Chavez, 17, was taking out the trash when he smelled smoke and saw the flames in the building next door. Chavez ran upstairs to bring out his 6-year-old sister and 14-year-old brother and alerted neighbors to the fire.
