- Icerazer, on 11/09/2007, -2/+56nothing worse than shooting yourself in the head and WOUNDING. D'oh!
- peterjones1957, on 11/09/2007, -1/+53strange how the youtube page says that the video was removed by the user... OBVIOUSLY if this guy was the shooter, he couldnt have removed it himself after he shot himself in the head, so Youtube must have removed it themselves.
- inactive, on 11/10/2007, -0/+31Myth Busted!!!
- hybridcreation, on 11/09/2007, -3/+31"Despite having the third-largest per capita ratio of handgun ownership in the world, violent incidents are rare at Finnish schools."
Wait...so...you mean...people can own guns and....not kill each other???
How's that saying go again??? Oh yeah...guns don't kill people...people kill people. - chris9902, on 11/10/2007, -2/+28That's epic fail right there.

- c0ldfusi0n, on 11/10/2007, -2/+14America should invade Finland to make sure that doesn't happen again.

- Jb611, on 11/10/2007, -5/+17that was the stupidest comment I've ever seen on digg.
- scyform, on 11/08/2007, -0/+12From his youtube profile:
"Don't blame the movies I see, the music I hear, the games I play or the books I read. No, they had nothing to do with this."
Well, at least that's squared away... - FBMGriever, on 11/08/2007, -2/+13That's like failing at failing.
- jparkinson, on 11/08/2007, -5/+15***** the frequency of these shootings just keeps getting worse
- xtmno3, on 11/08/2007, -1/+11I wouldn't go that far, but it is really dumb
- inactive, on 11/08/2007, -1/+11I love myself every morning before heading off to work.
- hybridcreation, on 11/08/2007, -1/+10Not very quick, are you?
- Velnich, on 11/08/2007, -0/+9That and the fact that Finland's rare gun psycho is now dead.
- hansk, on 11/08/2007, -2/+11this guy should have found himself unfit and eliminated himself first before thinking about doing that to others.
- wgdz, on 11/08/2007, -0/+9well according the the news the shooter later died at the hospital....
- Velnich, on 11/08/2007, -0/+8How long should he wait before the statistics become valid again?
- chris9902, on 11/09/2007, -0/+8nobody knows. That's how ***** fail it is.
- Rahodeb, on 11/08/2007, -1/+9Does that make it a success?
- Paroparo, on 11/08/2007, -0/+7The last time this happened in Finland was 1989, and then it only resulted in two fatalities. We're used to thinking that we're a relatively non-***** up society, so this is quite a shock for us.
- Paroparo, on 11/14/2007, -0/+7A week ago I would've said that we Finns are generally a sane and responsible bunch, with barely any inclination towards mass shootings. I suppose it's still true, but a lot less credible.
- frissy, on 11/12/2007, -2/+9Now nobody can wear that "humanity is overrated" shirt without getting the crap. Same thing has Adolf did to the mustache....
- jcims, on 11/08/2007, -0/+7It's actually quite a bit more common than you might think. Unless you hit the brain stem, major arteries or other very sensitive area, a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head isn't the quickest way out. I've read stories from police officers that describe suicide attempts that they've witnessed, individuals shooting themselves in the head, being shocked that they aren't dead, and then screaming and writhing in pain, vomiting, etc. Some ultimately die after several hours of this, others live.
- theblooms, on 11/09/2007, -7/+14They tried to do that here after VT. Instead, legislatures around the country took the OPPOSITE track, ALLOWING guns in schools.
Think guns are evil? Then put your money where your mouth is, and put a big gigantic sign on the front of your house declaring it a 'Gun Free Zone'. Not willing to do that? Then why subject your children to that exact same insanity?
If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns. - hybridcreation, on 11/08/2007, -2/+9You know it's only a matter of time.
- DaviDaviDaviD, on 11/08/2007, -0/+6Scarily he had 18 subscribers....
- blogdigger1, on 11/08/2007, -0/+6BAd form mate - to set up an account just to hijack a thread
- armbar, on 11/09/2007, -1/+7It's a 2-step process if it's to be done right. If someone has the right to buy the gun, then they have the responsibility to learn how to operate that gun. You have to have a concealed handgun license in the States to carry a gun in your pocket if you're out in public.
You're placing a lot of blame on guns, firearms, whatever, but that's not the problem I see from your story. Every time, it's someone who SHOULDN'T have a gun that somehow owns one. Guns aren't the problem; they can be used to defend yourself from the people that are the problem. The only way to evolve into something better as a species is to isolate or fix the people that are F'd up like that; guns are a side effect--a symptom of an underlying problem.
If I were you, I'd be scared because I would have no way to defend myself or someone else that was in trouble if someone decided to break your law and threaten one with a gun. - norbiu, on 11/08/2007, -2/+8Don't show his ***** face all over the tubes, don't even mention his name. That's what these losers want.. ATTENTION.
- mustang460, on 11/08/2007, -0/+6frequency isn't changing media coverage is, you just hear about them more, no better way to get ratings than show a tragedy
- johnkelsen, on 11/08/2007, -0/+6Because they had 1 crazy person?
- inactive, on 11/08/2007, -4/+10You must not have seen many comments on Digg. I've made way more stupid comments in the past. Thanks for playing.
- Jb611, on 11/08/2007, -1/+7The media will respond to it by blaming video games.
- nebion, on 11/08/2007, -0/+6Sacrificing our rights would mean that we would basically be allowing something that occurs maybe once every 20 years dictate how we live our lives every day.
No thanks...but I am worried that some people might actually think that it's necessary. - chronichyjinx, on 11/08/2007, -2/+7***** prick... I wish they kept him alive.
- Paroparo, on 11/08/2007, -0/+5Finland actually has very strict gun laws. Only guards and the like are allowed to carry guns in public, otherwise they can only be carried from place of storage to place of use (home->shooting range etc). It's also necessary to provice a reason when applying for a gun permit, and self-defence is not considered a valid reason.
A vast majority of fire arms in Finland are hunting weapons, or WW2-era personal war booty. Out of all the countries in WW2 wWe had the highest percentage of the population mobilized back then, and almost everyone brought a Russian gun or two home, most of which survive as family heirlooms or in grandpa's attic.
