Final Report on pre war Intel: Bush didn't lie.
intelligence.senate.gov — “Before taking the country to war, this Administration owed it to the American people to give them a 100 percent accurate picture of the threat we faced. Unfortunately, our Committee has concluded that the Administration made significant claims that were not supported by the intelligence,” Rockefeller said...."

- iheartboobs, on 06/10/2008, -0/+4Did spankaccount read the press release? It's pretty damming. All along, Bush and his administration have defended themselves against their false Iraq claims by saying everyong in the the intel community got it wrong and it's not their fault. But this press release says the opposite, most of those claims weren't substantiated by the intellegence community. Bush is a horrible leader who has no problems risking the lives of 100,000s, spending 100s of billions of dollars, and then blames his problems on others when things aren't going as planned.
- rossberry, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3This title makes no sense. The entire article is about how Bush and his administration lied. Please read the article before submitting it with a ridiculous and erroneous title.
- pilobilus, on 06/11/2008, -0/+2"spankaccount" is either a paid propagandist doing damage control, or an ideological True Believer who literally worships Our Mr. Bush as a living God.
Either way, good job of licking the pResident's boots sparkling clean, soles included, after he stepped in 20 pounds of steaming hot, extra juicy used dog food.
It appears that this report, a PRESS RELEASE actually, has only been mentioned on ONE national news broadcast so far, and that a 15 second sound bite on MSNBC. Administration damage control is in maximum overdrive.
In related news, Articles of Impeachment are about to be read into the Congressional Record. That won't be on TV news either, unless teh internets force it to happen. http://tinyurl.com/3vob96 - pilobilus, on 06/11/2008, -0/+2From the Committee Chairman:
"In making the case for war, the Administration repeatedly presented intelligence as fact when in reality it was unsubstantiated, contradicted, or even non-existent. As a result, the American people were led to believe that the threat from Iraq was much greater than actually existed. … Sadly, the Bush Administration led the nation into war under false pretenses." - Ciannaky, on 06/14/2008, -0/+0Funny how this Press Release only summarizes half the contents of the actual report and was written by a man who had access to the same intelligence the White House had prior to the war and himself stated that based on the evidence Iraq was a "serious threat" in 2002 and said ,"To insist on further evidence could put some of our fellow Americans at risk. Can we afford to take that chance? I do not think we can.”
Also telling how "bipartisan" "****** the full report is,as is stated in the minority dissent, the minority weren't even invited to take part in the writing of the final report.
I wonder why this release leaves off these points:
-Iraq’s nuclear weapons program “generally substantiated by intelligence community estimates.”
-On biological weapons, production capability and those infamous mobile laboratories: The president’s statements “were substantiated by intelligence information.”
-On chemical weapons, then? “Substantiated by intelligence information.”
-On weapons of mass destruction overall (a separate section of the intelligence committee report)? “Generally substantiated by intelligence information.”
-Delivery vehicles such as ballistic missiles? “Generally substantiated by available intelligence.” -Unmanned aerial vehicles that could be used to deliver WMDs? “Generally substantiated by intelligence information.”
-Statements regarding Iraq’s support for terrorist groups other than al-Qaeda “were substantiated by intelligence information.”
-Statements that Iraq provided safe haven for Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and other terrorists with ties to al-Qaeda “were substantiated by the intelligence assessments,”
-Statements regarding Iraq’s contacts with al-Qaeda “were substantiated by intelligence information.”
These points are from Rockefeller's own report, but the research deficient left is going to continue to deny the vast majority of their own party members thought exactly the same way the President and Republicans did and are on record stating as much.
