- ElAssoWipo, on 06/08/2008, -7/+25Who's pumping corn in their cars? Where the ***** are all these ethanol cars? I haven't seen one yet. Not a single one.
Please explain the relation between American and European corn crops and the food crisis in North Korea.
They've been receiving food aid since the early 90's. Because of... FAMINE.
http://www.usip.org/pubs/specialreports/sr990802.h ...- JointVenture, on 06/08/2008, -1/+2Its in every tank of gas you buy. Ethanol is now a mandatory gas additive.
See laws are being passed and affecting your life and you dont even know it.
Thats why cap and trade is so dangerous, most people dont know that gas will go up 57 cents day one.
- JointVenture, on 06/08/2008, -1/+2Its in every tank of gas you buy. Ethanol is now a mandatory gas additive.
- wolfofwar, on 06/08/2008, -0/+29Well if North Korea had better leadership they would have more food imports, now wouldn't they?
- slib, on 06/08/2008, -0/+14Yeah, there's no way that these problems are linked to NK's inept government. No sir. I mean, that part in the article about how we have 500K tons of food waiting to be shipped that can't be due to fears that the regime of Mr Jong-il will just divert it to the army instead of those who need it? Outright lies. And it's not like worldwide inflation/historically undervalued prices on food have anything to do with this, either. It all comes down to how I can't find a good jar of Dijon to save my life.
- iizh, on 06/08/2008, -1/+9Your self righteous BS has convinced me. I shall change my ways immediately.
- IphtashuFitz, on 06/08/2008, -1/+4So you'd rather give that corn to Kim Jong-il so he can feed his army rather than the peasants who are starving and in more need of relief? He's basically refusing to allow any inspectors into his country to ensure the aid that's already been offered gets to those who truly need it. The US is already offering over 500,000 TONS of food that they could provide very quickly but since their "Dear leader" won't let us make sure it goes where needed he's the one responsible for holding it up.

- blackinthmiddle, on 06/08/2008, -2/+8You've managed to take North Korea's food problem, completely absolve their government and blame the whole thing on everyone *but* the North Korean government! Who says you don't have talent?
Kimg Jung Il doesn't seem to be much different than Robert Mugabe; dictators of countries that should flourish but because they're simply insane their people suffer and die on a daily basis. That has NOTHING to do with how much additional food we ship over there.- Oea420, on 06/08/2008, -0/+2Thank you! Digg parent up!
North Korea's problems are so much deeper than lack of food it is rediculous.
Look at South Korea.
This sounds like DPRK drivel

- LadyOBOF, on 06/08/2008, -1/+2The world food shortage is real and its going to get worst. It is a ashame yet in the US we also have starving people and we spend millions of dollars on the election. NO ONE should be hungry. America continues to serve super size portions in restaurants when in other parts of the world there's massive starvation. Global warming and climate changes have left so many people unable to farm their land and the crooks in their government don't help when we ship food over there. Makes us grateful for our food everyday.
- rlh1, on 06/08/2008, -0/+3I totally agree.
We should not be spending those billions of dollars on an election.
If we had a Politburo like North Korea does, we could spend the money directly on food aid. - goon5000, on 06/08/2008, -0/+0Why is serving huge portions at restaurants a bad thing? You suggest that we're doing something wrong because people are starving elsewhere? So I guess if we starve ourselves then everything would be equal, so that would be better? The goal is to get the starving people off their ass so they can serve huge portions in their own restaurants you moron.
- rlh1, on 06/08/2008, -0/+3I totally agree.
- lolinyerface, on 06/08/2008, -0/+2That is horrible that you are doing that.

- JettaMan, on 06/08/2008, -8/+4Blaming a psychotic family murder on the "world food crisis" (TM) is pure sensationalism. If they want to truly solve the "crisis" get the government regulations out of the way. Their idiot corn-ethanol plan is a big part of the problem.

- passedoutghost, on 06/08/2008, -5/+4Quite often? More like rarely ever. For many men killing their families would be the worst thing imaginable. Family something that's extremely precious many Asian cultures. We filed for bankruptcy a few years back, and we're still alive and kicking.

- TherealObadiah, on 06/08/2008, -1/+31This is likely just one of the many, many instances of such action in North Korea that we have actually heard of. It has been very desperate over there for a long time. "Dear Leader" is a madman.

- goodposter, on 06/08/2008, -13/+1Then why don't they move?
- IphtashuFitz, on 06/08/2008, -0/+18Let's see.... To the east & west of Korea are the Sea of Japan and the Yellow Sea. To the north is a border with China, parts of which are rugged mountains that would challenge expert climbers, parts of which are along a wide rapid flowing river, and all of which is patrolled both by the North Korean military whose job is to keep North Koreans inside North Korea, and Chinese military who don't want an exodus of refugees from North Korea. Then to the south is the most militarized border on earth, with electrified fences, the largest concentration of land mines anywhere, North Korean soldiers with orders to shoot on sight, etc. So where would you suggest they move?
- ElAssoWipo, on 06/08/2008, -0/+15Because they don't own anything and don't have the right to exit the country and they'll be killed if they try?

- RiverBelow, on 06/08/2008, -0/+2successful troll is successful
- Witchboy, on 06/08/2008, -1/+14Issues like this are haunting. On one hand, there's the desire to help the oppressed people by continuing the food aid they've been receiving. On the other, there's the desire to accelerate the collapse of a corrupt, totalitarian, economically non-viable government so the people can eventually replace it with something better.
- deathberry, on 06/08/2008, -0/+8Don't forget that, while you may help the current generation of oppressed people by sending aid, the only thing that guarantees is more suffering in the future (in the increased number of offspring) unless their government is brought to its knees. The collapse of the regime is necessary before their citizens can be truly helped.
- Rawler, on 06/08/2008, -1/+13The terms 'regime change' and 'regime collapse' do not surface pleasant memories in the political landscape.
- Ultrace, on 06/08/2008, -4/+5The terms "root canal" or "amputation" don't surface pleasant memories either, but at times they are just as necessary due to the conditions involved. That those two procedures often deal with infected or dying body parts makes them extra appropriate to the situation at hand.
All governments and societies eventually fall after they've risen to be replaced by something else--yes, even the best-run democracies will eventually collapse; that's known history. How long they last depends on what they do for the people. The revolutionary period is hardly a picnic for the people involved. But it's about looking at the resolution of the dilemma, what their children and grandchildren can look forward to.- Oea420, on 06/08/2008, -1/+2Are people digging this intelligent person down just because he speaks truth?
Governments and Societies collapse. It's part of the natural cycle of things. All things die, all things come to an end.
- Oea420, on 06/08/2008, -1/+2Are people digging this intelligent person down just because he speaks truth?
- Ultrace, on 06/08/2008, -4/+5The terms "root canal" or "amputation" don't surface pleasant memories either, but at times they are just as necessary due to the conditions involved. - IphtashuFitz, on 06/08/2008, -2/+18I feel so terrible for the vast majority of North Korean citizens. They're so thoroughly brainwashed to mistrust all foreigners, only listen to their own leaders, and revere Kim Jong-il as almost a god despite the fact that he basically treats them all like *****. What really scares me is the fact that he's got a huge well trained army, and if these sorts of conditions persist he'd have a good incentive to use it to invade South Korea again. But even if he doesn't do that and his regime eventually collapses the mess that'll be left behind to clean up will be unlike anything the world has ever dealt with.
- OC73, on 06/08/2008, -1/+4So true, and so sad.
- crapmatic, on 06/08/2008, -0/+9Having read Aquariums of Pyongyang, I don't think it's accurate to say that North Koreans are brainwashed. Rather they don't have any hope of effecting change, so about all any person can do is ride the wave and not stick their head out.
- JointVenture, on 06/08/2008, -8/+3Like Obama fans.
- atact88, on 06/08/2008, -9/+1It harkens back to the American dust bowl, when midwest farmers had such a hard time making ends meet and feeding their own families they would shoot them and then commit suicide. These things will always happen in desperate times, sadly.
- IphtashuFitz, on 06/08/2008, -1/+6It's nothing like the dust bowl. Even in "good" times in North Korea the vast majority of food grown by peasant farmers goes to feed the military. The aid that countries like US are offering (we're offering 500,000 tons which would be enough to stave off short term starvation) is likely going to be given to the military and not the starving peasants who actually need it. The repressive North Korean regime doesn't care about their poorest citizens and created these problems themselves. This family wouldn't be dead if the government had let them actually earn a decent living.
- 140Suffolk, on 06/08/2008, -2/+2No it doesn't. They caused it themselves. Communist countries ALWAYS have food shortages.
- JointVenture, on 06/08/2008, -2/+2Yep, it was a disaster of GLOBAL WARMING proportions, and look at the world 10 years after the dust bowl, it was fine.
- OC73, on 06/08/2008, -10/+6And to think the entire Korean peninsula would've been liberated if Truman had backed General Macarthur's plan to use nukes against the ChiComs.
Pray for the millions of souls in this concentration camp nation.
May the world garnish the strength someday to bring them freedom.- IphtashuFitz, on 06/08/2008, -3/+9More likely the Russians and/or Chinese who were backing North Korea would have retaliated with nukes of their own and all of Korea would be a smoking radioactive crater. And if we're lucky the rest of the planet wouldn't be a smoking radioactive crater as well.
- EIderofzion, on 06/08/2008, -2/+1I guess we will soon see what happens when an Infidel nation gets nuked, if there will be retaliation or dead silence.
- goon5000, on 06/08/2008, -0/+1The combination of reliable missle defense systems and the pitiful state of north korean engineering (that's the trade off you make when you brainwash a population and cut them off from the real world, no education) will ensure that any retaliation will be useless.

- deathberry, on 06/08/2008, -8/+3Is contraception available in North Korea? I find it baffling that people who live such a bleak existence (i.e., oppressive regime, perpetual state of starvation, little hope of improvement) would willingly have children and make them go through this suffering.
- whorunbartertwn, on 06/08/2008, -1/+7In most 3rd world countries having children is the only way to ensure someone will care for you when you're old, since few can save enough and society provides nothing.
- deathberry, on 06/08/2008, -1/+1Ah, you are right. That's one factor I forgot to take into account. IMHO, seems a bit selfish though to perpetuate the cycle on their part... Decent children don't mind taking care of their parents, but I don't think I would want to bring offspring into that type of environment just so my "golden years" are a bit more tolerable.
- whorunbartertwn, on 06/08/2008, -0/+0I hear you, but I think it's a different perspective on golden years being more tolerable... it's more like how am I going to get water from the well, slaughter pigs, till soil, maintain housing, etc. when old.
An interesting side effect of China's 独生子女 one child policy is that many young married couples find themselves burdened with two sets of parents living with them. Sure they help out raising the kid, cleaning house, etc. but man that's got to put some stress on a tight living quarters having four elderly folk sharing space with you.

He lived on the outside of town
With his wife and five children
And his cabin brokin' down.
You looked for work and money
And you walked a rugged mile
Your children are so hungry
That they don't know how to smile.
Your baby's eyes look crazy
They're a-tuggin' at your sleeve
You walk the floor and wonder why
With every breath you breathe.
The rats have got your flour
Bad blood it got your mare
If there's anyone that knows
Is there anyone that cares ?
You prayed to the Lord above
Oh please send you a friend
Your empty pocket tell you
That you ain't a-got no friend.
Your babies are crying louder now
It's pounding on your brain
Your wife's screams are stabbin' you
Like the dirty drivin' rain.
Your grass is turning black
There's no water in your well
Your spent your last lone dollar
On seven shotgun shels.
Way out in the wilderness
A cold coyote calls
Your eyes fix on the shortgun
That's hangin' on the wall.
Your brain is a-bleedin'
And your legs can't seem to stand
Your eyes fix on the shortgun
That you're holdin' in your hand.
There's seven breezes a-blowin'
All around the cabin door
Seven shots ring out
Like the ocean's pounding roar.
There's seven people dead
On a south Dakota farm
Somewhere in the distance
There's seven new people born. - n3xu5, on 06/08/2008, -11/+6He should have killed killed the rich people instead.

It gives great insight into the lies the DPRK government told its people, told from an agent trained from early childhood to be a terrorist bomber. The author dedicates all proceeds of the book to the families of the victims on KAL Flight 858, which she successfully bombed.
I worked the North Korean target for over 10 years. I can say without a doubt that Kim Jong-Il is not only paranoid, insane, and suffers from a severe case of ego-mania, but also he lacks all shred of human decency and compassion. He is the truest example of "Absolute power corrupts absolutely".
While the average North Korean family ate soup made of tree bark and in some cases, meat from the bones of recently deceased family members, Kim Jong-Il and his government cronies ate lobster flown in from various parts of the world. All aid sent in from empathetic countries was given to military soldiers first, and whatever was left over was handed out to the people.
The day the government of the DPRK falls is the day the North Korean people will be born into the life they should have had.- nicktripp, on 06/08/2008, -0/+2"The Aquariums of Pyongyang" is also a fantastic read for those interested in life inside the North Korean borders. Think about it. Same language. Same culture. Same land. But North Korea is starving and South Korea is prospering. What's the difference? Communism.
Just another example that illustrates where communism goes...to re-education camps. To brutal censorship and political prisoners. And starvation.- jtscira, on 06/08/2008, -4/+10No this is a dictatorship.
Communism states that the only way to solve these problems would be for the working class, or proletariat, to replace the wealthy bourgeoisie, which is currently the ruling class, in order to establish a peaceful, free society, without classes, or government (wiki)
Definately NOT North Korea- 140Suffolk, on 06/08/2008, -1/+5Yeah, that's what all you commies say:
"But, but but. That's not REAL communism. Real communism cares for the people." Right.
USSR, N Korea, Red China, Cambodia, Viet Nam, Cuba.
All murderous dictatorships. All 100% Communist.
Now you tell me where Communism turned out well...- Zpanzer, on 06/08/2008, -1/+3The idea and how it turns out is two individual things.
It was an good idea to stop Saddam and try to build Iraq up with democracy, problem is that out come of this idea now lies in houndres of soldiers killed, many families, in the US and other countries who set to help out, lost their son/husband etc.
All things that looks great on paper might not work so well when executed, but the outcome of it still doesn't change the thing written down on the paper. - goon5000, on 06/08/2008, -0/+3WHAT? are you ***** serious? So if I write "2 + 2 = 5" on a piece of paper, and then I take 2 pennies, and add 2 more pennies, count them up and get 4, do you still believe that 2 + 2 = 5? *****.
The definition of communism is YOU determining what I need. That is why it has never worked, that is why communist dictators have to use weapons to force people to pretend to be communists and to provide for the leaders.
You like communism? you should talk to some Russians. - jtscira, on 06/08/2008, -1/+1Well you concept is right but execution is wrong. If Marx wrote 2+2=4 then Stalin executed 2+2=5.

Communism will never work since human nature is to always want more. - am0500, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1"But, but but. That's not REAL communism. Real communism cares for the people."
This is an extremely naive assessment of communist polemic. Communism, as described by Marx, Engels, Lenin, et al. is the end result of a long-term political process and has never been _objectively_ reached within any nation. I am not a communist myself but this fact is evident with even a basic understanding of political thought. - rhino369, on 06/09/2008, -0/+3Communism goes against human nature. The average person isn't going to work if they get paid whether they do or not.
And even more fundamentally, without classes and states, who decides what to build, who punishes criminals? What happens when you have 500 million people who want to be movie stars and nobody who wants to dig graves? The only solution to this problem has been a dictator.
It is a ridiculously Utopian ideology. So if anyone claims real communism hasn't been tried, its because it is impossible. - 140Suffolk, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1rhino369 -- Excellent.

Kennedy rose to his feet, according to Nuttle, who attended the hearing, and replied: "It hasn't worked in 6,000 years of recorded history because it didn't have me to run it."
http://www.wnd.com/index.php?pageId=60537 - datastorageguy, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1Sort of like patched Kennedy, when someone asked him about taxes, he said,
"I have never worked a ***** day in my life." As to say, why should he worry about higher taxes.

- 140Suffolk, on 06/08/2008, -1/+5Yeah, that's what all you commies say:
- gerbil20, on 06/08/2008, -2/+3The question is: will South Korea return the favor if we are stupid enough to elect the Obamination?
- 140Suffolk, on 06/09/2008, -0/+3That's funny. Will S Korea send troops to save us from Marxist Obama? Probably not.
- jtscira, on 06/08/2008, -4/+10No this is a dictatorship.
- JackSchittt, on 06/08/2008, -5/+7So we've got one country who may or may not have WMDs. They may or may not want to use those weapons against us some time in the future, and while Sadaam is an *****, his people were at least living a relatively decent life. And we bombed the ***** out of them and refused to even *try* to be diplomatic.
And now you've got this *****, who HAS WMD's. He's already said that he DOES want to use them against us. And he's virtually killing millions of people through his "military first" policies, leaving his entire country in a constant state of famine. He's shown to be paranoid, insane, and completely irrational. His government is completely corrupt Yet Bush wants to be "diplomatic" with this idiot, even after years of talks that got nowhere and countless treaties that he's repeatedly broken and ignored?
We bombed the wrong country.- EIderofzion, on 06/08/2008, -5/+2"while Sadaam is an *****, his people were at least living a relatively decent life. "
Proof you don't know ***** all about Iraq
"We bombed the wrong country. "
If you are in favor of bombing Iran I dissagree with you on that one too.- JackSchittt, on 06/08/2008, -1/+4"Proof you don't know ***** all about Iraq"
Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize that things like widespread corruption and inability to leave your house without fear of being the victim of a suicide bomber or killed by insurgents is better than being able to at least leave your house and go about your business.
"If you are in favor of bombing Iran I dissagree with you on that one too."
Proof that you fail at reading comprehension.- EIderofzion, on 06/08/2008, -3/+5sorry for the language but MY GOD MAN!
People were eating grass and drinking ditchwater, the currency was printed by photocopier machines, at the same time the oil for food money went to how many pallaces for the Hussein family? Was it 8?
When he would force people at gunpoint to applaud while their family member is being publicly executed. Sending video tapes of men's wives at the last momments of their lives. Were you able to read when he publicly boasted and offered huge amounts of money to the families of Suicide bombers if they were killing jews? Do you remember the term SCUDD?
Why do you think there were NO FLY Zones in northern Iraq before the second attack? In case you don't know it was to stop droping biological weapons on the Kurds in the Anfal campaign. He justified it with a Sura in the Quran explaining how it's ok to take the spoils of others (Oil fields from the Kurds).
- EIderofzion, on 06/08/2008, -3/+5sorry for the language but MY GOD MAN!
- JackSchittt, on 06/08/2008, -1/+4"Proof you don't know ***** all about Iraq"
- jtscira, on 06/08/2008, -0/+3We should not be bombing anyone unless provoked.
Both of the countries citizens were *****.- JackSchittt, on 06/08/2008, -1/+0I agree with you, but North Korea has provoked us far more than Sadaam did.
And NK's citizens are far more ***** than Sadaam's were.- EIderofzion, on 06/08/2008, -0/+2You are right and that is why Sadaam actually said his big mistake was getting Nuclear weapons FIRST, if he had I'm sure things would have been much different. For some reason American Intelligence believes/believed that there was going to be an uprising, or revolution, but it never happened. I'd be interested in reading why they were so sure about this.
But Iraq is at the chokepoint of the world economy, given that it is based on oil. Sunni SA on one side, and Shia Iran on the other, imagine if a gang like AQ had the disposable income say the UAE has. I have a feeling you know about the UAE and it's huge projects.
- EIderofzion, on 06/08/2008, -0/+2You are right and that is why Sadaam actually said his big mistake was getting Nuclear weapons FIRST, if he had I'm sure things would have been much different. - Felix118, on 06/08/2008, -1/+4I believe that Bush chose Iraq over North Korea because:
1) He was finishing what his father started,
2) Oil interests,
3) I'm sure that there are still a lot of Americans who remember the Korean war,
4) Korea actually has WMD.- goon5000, on 06/08/2008, -1/+2The difference is that North Korea has always shown that it is willing to negotiate, even if they act crazy at the same time. Bush exhausted every option with Saddam, Saddam would not negotiate because he was a sociopath.
- EIderofzion, on 06/10/2008, -1/+1and 5) all of the 4 points for UN action have been performed my Sadaam, and 10 years of jerking them around had to stop sometime.
- Oea420, on 06/08/2008, -1/+2A conflict with North Korea would have been an absolute disaster.
The losses involved would be massive.
The people are used to these small conflicts... Desert Storm, Desert Shield.
Do you know how many people were dying daily during World War II?
A conflict with a determined and competent military force causes unthinkable loss of life. And with North Korea, you're looking at a populace who is supposedly brainwashed by propaganda and feverishly nationalist.
But who knows, maybe once a conflict does happen with North Korea, the people in the military might defect in mass numbers, but I highly doubt it. There is little evidence of decent in North Korea, because any speak of it is silenced immediately by the government. Its' military forces are treated exceptionally well compared to the general populace, which undoubtably leads to a massive superiority complex with the ruling elite and the military.
The country is a total ***** mess, but a dedicated mess. It's not even close to baby bush wanting to write himself into the history books while making his cronies filthy rich
- EIderofzion, on 06/08/2008, -5/+2"while Sadaam is an *****, his people were at least living a relatively decent life. "
- DestroyFascism, on 06/08/2008, -3/+1I have to say this reflects on all of us. We can bring our governments to bear the strength of our nations together and rip this country apart from head to foot. It does not take a war to do either.
His son is always in China gambling. There is a good start. War Criminal? Crimes against humanity? What's daddy going to do? Point a little stick at us? - abhinavnalluri, on 06/08/2008, -0/+3Poor poor kids, we lucky souls in the USA and other countries have it so well off.
- goon5000, on 06/08/2008, -1/+2Free market capitalism is a wonderful thing. I'm hungry, I think I'll get some lobster today.

- fuzzypuppy, on 06/08/2008, -0/+4Um, everyone seems to believe the spin put on this story by the Times.
This wasn't due to the food shortage. The article said they argued before he killed her and their children. This is just a case of domestic violence by an insane husband, not despair.
I also like how neighbours listened to him beat her to death but did nothing.
This is not to say that what is going on in NK isn't horrible, but there's no way I'd send in any food aid when it just goes to the military and not the ones who truly need it. - siktath, on 06/08/2008, -6/+5Thanks Socialists!
- bjornski, on 06/29/2008, -0/+1North Korea isn't a socialist country.
- DucoNihilum, on 06/08/2008, -4/+4This is caused by their socialist system. They have problems sustaining themselves, that's why every few years they have a new nuclear weapon pointing directly at Japan so that they can get some money / weapons / etc out of us. I'd doubt that they could survive without direct support from other nations like the US. If the NK government fell, that would be a VERY good thing.
- tian2992, on 06/09/2008, -1/+1Yeah sure, just like Cuba has trouble sustaining themselves…
North Korea is not socialist, they are the opposite; just like INGSOC is to socialism.
- tian2992, on 06/09/2008, -1/+1Yeah sure, just like Cuba has trouble sustaining themselves…
- goon5000, on 06/08/2008, -1/+1Guy murders his family and this is my fault beacuse... ?
There's only one way to help North Koreans, There needs to be a revolution led by pro-South Korea members of the North Korean military. - aserer511, on 06/08/2008, -0/+1...this is horrible.

- Rekutyn, on 06/08/2008, -1/+1Kim Jong Il is forcing farmers to switch food crops over to poppy production. North Korea is the leading exporter of heroin to the western world. Explains the starvation. Cannibalism is rampant in the rural communities.
- Mpwns, on 06/08/2008, -1/+3we wont do a thing to any place in the world unless you happen to have black gold. digg me down but just look at Africa that place is a huge mess. the world just turns a blind eye to it since theres nothing there but people and animals.
- goon5000, on 06/08/2008, -1/+1Whatever. the only way to get ***** done in Africa is militarily, then you would protest it.
- Mpwns, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1no i would join the army if it meant war with any part of africa thats one place on earth worth fighting for.
- Haoie, on 06/08/2008, -0/+3Not quite. People in developed nations are so used to Africa being that way, so that any new crisis there [such as Sudan] is hardly worth noticing.
- toowired77, on 06/10/2008, -0/+0Sad what is happening to innocent people in North Korea. If this article was about Africans, of course diggers would have to add a racial component to it. Western Hubris precedes western fall.

- gerbil20, on 06/08/2008, -1/+1The very first thing to do to avert the current crisis (and the ones that will follow) is to enact a total and permanent ban on biofuels. Once the incentive to grow biofuel produce will disappear, the farmers will return to growing food ... you know... for people.
- Kallius, on 06/08/2008, -0/+2To kill your family and then yourself because there is no hope has to be the worst despair someone could have. It's too bad this man couldn't have also taken out a few of those officials (or their superiors) who cut off their source of income.
- sndream, on 06/09/2008, -2/+3While there's no doubt Kim Jong-Il is a horrible leader and there could be actually famine at NK occuring right at this moment, this so called news is most likely make up, the story got more holes than swiss cheese. Remember how the Bush reign have a bunch of high ranking Iraq exile claiming Saddam have WMD?
- Ortheos, on 06/09/2008, -1/+1Blatant propaganda. A crazed lunatic murders his entire family and it's...the regimes fault because crazed man didn't have enough food to eat. WTF america, wtf.
- Ortheos, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1This is ridiculous, the guy blaming the government of north korea for something some crazed man did to his family, is getting dug up, and the guys talking logic and sense are getting dug down. Oh wait, this is digg. sorry carry on.
- KingHumanity, on 06/30/2008, -0/+0We see this over and over again.
N.Korea suffers while S.Korea prospers
E.Germany suffers while W.Germany miraculously jumps back to a top economic power in only a few years after WWII
Entire eastern Europe vs Entire Western Europe
Marx and communism have much to answer for.
