Eyewitnesses Recount Terrifying Day in Tibet
washingtonpost.com — BEIJING, March 26 -- In the moment, Canadian backpacker John Kenwood recalled, he was "young and stupid, and it was all adrenaline." He was running, one in a mob of 200 or so, screaming "Free Tibet!" and chasing riot police down a narrow street in downtown Lhasa in the early afternoon of March 14.

- yfph, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1It is disheartening to hear that some members of the crowd decided to seek redress of China's Tibetan policies in a manner that rankles and, in some cases, repulses those who genuinely desire to see greater autonomy in the region. Violence is always counterproductive. And if such eye-witness accounts are true, the Dalai Lama's message of non-violent resistance for his people is sadly falling upon more and more deaf ears.
