This has GOT to stop somewhere. Parents, be parents for crying out loud. This is just the most inane thing I have ever read or heard tell of. It only becomes a 'normal' part of culture when it's allowed to do so b/c of frequency. If your kid knows a kid who behaves this way-then you have to act to stop it. Call the parents of that kid. Take some action. Find them some new kids to hang around and explain why--because that 'friend' is a morally bankrupt idiot and apparently comes from a family that does not care what they do.
This happens when society tries to dumb-down the moral compass of its people. There actually IS a right and a wrong. Learn the difference. I'm tired of being in the minority of people who actually care which is which. - bigot, on 04/14/2008, -0/+4These girls are not more" confident and assertive" as some (unknown) study reports. They are sluts who have no confidence at all in anything that matters. All these years of the NEA trying to insure self esteem in the poor children created a generation that is totally devoid of any esteem at all. Way to go teachers.
- KCLorelei39, on 04/14/2008, -1/+4saw that one coming the day I saw a camera phone for the first time. It isn't 'just' teenagers that do this, it is a growing concern for our society.
Parents that accept the idea of sex as a group activity or as a "harmless" spectator sport aren't likely to intervene with their kids when the teens are just acting like the little animals the public schools have convinced them that they are.
Some of the parents of these teens are most likely doing something similar with their own cell phones. - kirralin23, on 04/14/2008, -0/+3What these young adults are doing is very dangerous; It will likely result in some dead teenage victims of pedophiles. I agree that a lot of the blame belongs on the shoulders of the parents. Are they too afraid of invading their child's perceived privacy to monitor what they are doing. My children understand that they have no privacy, except, of course, in the bathroom. They understand that they will lose their bedroom doors if they abuse them. Why do these kids still have cell phones? I say kids, but really, these young people are no longer innocent children, they are young adults preparing to enter the adult world. If they cannot act like young adults, and insist on acting like spoiled children, take away their young adult devices such as cell phones, cameras and Internet. It won't kill them. Better yet, when I teenager sends a nude oo sexual picture of him/herself. Charge them with distribution of child pornography. The fact that they're victimizing themselves doesn't change the fact that they've committed a serious crime. Charge them with one charge of endangering a minor for each individual they sent the photograph/video too. Charge those teens who choose to redistribute (forward) the offense media or post it on the web. Treat these crimes with no tolerance and you will cut down on them greatly. Also, make sure you always know where your children are, who they're with and what they're doing. This is not an invasion of their privacy, it's good parenting. These doesn't need to be done in a harsh way. Have fun things to do and popular foods at your house which you share freely with your children's friends, make your house the fun place to be. Get to know your children's friends parents. When the kids want to go to the mall, drive them there. Stay there and shop. Let the kids know they could be running into you anywhere. Don't stop them from hanging-out and socializing, encourage it; but make sure they are supervised. Take turns with this duty among the other parents. You don't have to do it all yourself, cooperate.
- momofour, on 04/15/2008, -0/+2Spot on, kirralin.
Not only is it dangerous but it is illegal--it is distibution of pornographic images...a felony. Kids may have no idea that it's a crime, but the parents NEED to be aware of this and be responsible for it. In fact, if an underage person continues in something like this, and the parent doesn't intervene, then the PARENT should be held liable for the crime as well for providing the means by which the pornography is spreading. If the adults were giving underage kids liquer, they'd go to jail...maybe parents need a little kick in the pants for this going on continually as well.
It's not like this is the first time we're hearing of this--so, guess what--NO TOLERANCE. Kids who do it should go to jail. Period. Tell your kids that if they do this they'll go to jail. Take their phones away. Spend time with your kids...like kirralin said. BE the PARENT...good grief.- kirralin23, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1Exactly
- momofour, on 04/15/2008, -0/+2Spot on, kirralin.
- kithogan, on 04/14/2008, -0/+3I'd like to thank the womens liberation movement for turning young girls into whores with no sense of decency or high morals.....they're acting just like animals instead of ladies.......was better when women were on pedestals and not down in the gutter.
- darnedsocks, on 04/14/2008, -1/+2AS LONG AS HOLLYWOOD GOES "UNCHECKED" AND KEEPS CHURNING OUT MADONNAS AND BRITNEYS, IT'S GOING TO BE THE LATEST FAD. OUR WHOLE SOCIETY HAS GONE MAD! AND WHY THE HELL DO COUPLES TAKE OUT MORTGAGES BASED ON TWO INCOMES? WHY ARE ILLEGALS BEING LET INTO THE COUNTRY? IF PEOPLE STARTED PUTTING THEIR FOOT DOWN, MAYBE THE PRICE OF HOUSING WOULD COME DOWN AND AT LEAST ONE OF THE PARENTS COULD STAY AT HOME AND MONITOR THE CHILDREN!
