Exclusive: Barack Obama is 'aloof' says British ambassador t
telegraph.co.uk — Barack Obama is a "decidedly liberal" senator "who was finding his feet, and then got diverted by his presidential ambitions", according to a frank verdict delivered to Gordon Brown by the British ambassador to the United States.

- Rich711, on 10/02/2008, -1/+8Wow, when the head of the labour party calls you decidedly liberal... The socialist party must think he's just right.
- overnow, on 10/03/2008, -0/+1It was the Ambassador who gave that assessment, not Brown.
- 7papa7, on 10/02/2008, -0/+9Barak Obama has the most liberal voting record in congress and that includes socialist Bernie Sanders. I don't think the word is aloof that he meant, I think totally self absorbed would be more accurate. Obama can't see past himself and is only interested in himself and the power he can get.
- MHunt, on 10/02/2008, -0/+7Nice to know that all of Europe doesn't worship The Chosen One like the media would like us to believe. Expect this story to be buried by the Obama-bots.
- mdwhite, on 10/03/2008, -0/+4And this is the empty suit who's supposed to remake the US into a lovable, huggable, squeezable, soft and fluffy, unoffensive oompah-loompah with deep pockets that can be loved and admired by everybody in the whole, wide world ? Apparently not...
- Indyanna, on 10/03/2008, -0/+4Obama is so elitist, even a British ambassador sees it.
And having a British ambassador call an American from Chicago "aloof" - wow, Obama's worse than I thought.
btw, this is not a slam against Brits. I love Britain and all things English. It's just that as a culture, the British (at least those who would be advising the PM) are not exactly folksy - something Americans are known for. - GlobalRoamer, on 10/03/2008, -1/+2So if Obama is elected POTUS the British won't want to work with him, the French has already called him; "that stupid bastard," and the Germans think he is polite, but ignorant, but at least he can play nice with Libya, North Korea, Iran, Kenya, and Somalia; not to mention the Islamic Middle Eastern countries; Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Iraqi, Oman, and Yemen,
My what an interesting America this is going to become.- overnow, on 10/03/2008, -0/+1You do know that the Bush administration has been playing "nice" with Libya, North Korea, and is now acknowledging that they will need to do the same with Iran?
