- govsucks, on 11/13/2009, -11/+84German bombers couldn't destroy England, but wait, here comes popular collectivism and it has a gun. Will England go down without a fight? Are they doomed to become a nation obedient borg drones? Stay tuned.
- LEL2007, on 11/13/2009, -11/+80It's called 'Cap and Tax' and the revenue will fund the world government.
- stevebee, on 11/13/2009, -7/+62FTA"A lot of people who cycle will get money back. It will probably only be bankers and those with extravagant lifestyles who would lose out."
Yeah. The first year. That's how they'll bait-and-switch you.
You Brits are going to have to grow a pair. - Chahrlie5, on 11/13/2009, -9/+60***** RETARDED
- d3dm, on 11/13/2009, -1/+44This has nothing to do with CO2, carbon, or the climate. Your government has just concocted a new way to grab money under the guise that it will save a dying planet.
Just watch how the government will spend the tax monies after they start selling massive amounts of "carbon credits" to industry. It won't be used to clean up the air or water. It will be used as it always has - to buy the votes of special interests.
My friends, it's not the planet that is doomed. It's the governed. - Ferretman, on 11/13/2009, -18/+58Stupid, stupid, stupid.
And all for an unproven and unscientific theory of how climate works....incredible..... - mustangmike53, on 11/13/2009, -3/+43I don't think my grandmother can still bicycle...
- jdmgomoo, on 11/13/2009, -10/+47It's another way to separate the classes and control the middle and lower classes.
The rich can continue to enjoy their "extravagant lifestyles" by simply paying a little more tax. The common folks can't afford such luxuries as driving their car. - bluto36, on 11/13/2009, -12/+45back to serfs and nobles you go Britain. you're little experiment with personal liberties was fun for awhile but it is for the common good you know.
- Abatrour, on 11/13/2009, -4/+34"Those who are frugal with their carbon usage will be able to sell their unused credits and make a profit. "
And I guarantee that there will be some kind of "tax" or "fee" upon transfers.
Just like the Copenhagen treaty which states that if someone trades a carbon credit the bankers will get a share of it. - sHockz, on 11/13/2009, -15/+45get ready for it, obama wants something quite similar for us! just imagine filling that out on your tax forms
"Well, lets see here, i used x amount of carbon this year so i owe $23498273498273498274023424023473420372320474 to taxes because paying taxes solves global warming. sounds about right to me!" - parabola9, on 11/13/2009, -3/+32This is a double tax on the lower classes. Not only will the masses pay this tax, but captains of industry will raise prices on their products to absorb whatever taxes they have to pay.
- thematrixexpert, on 11/13/2009, -6/+34ever thought one day you would be charged for the carbon dioxide rich air you exhale?
- senojkj, on 11/13/2009, -15/+41Too late! They already surrendered their first freedom and their last resort: their guns.
- GrodyChamp, on 11/13/2009, -0/+25Can't wait for Uncle Sam's version to come kick us in the face and wallet. Get ready, it's coming.
- inactive, on 11/13/2009, -22/+45Man you guys seem less liberal today. I like what I'm seeing
- Chahrlie5, on 11/13/2009, -10/+29Not just the brits, Americans too.
Too many guilt-ridden 3rd, 4th, 5th, nth generation Americans who never lived in a country without liberty or who have parents who did, have taken it upon themselves to castrate America.
Good to know my family fled Vietnam on boats and worked their asses off to only wind up with a Government voted in by sniveling little ***** who want to take what they've worked for and give it to others. - Chahrlie5, on 11/13/2009, -12/+29Nonsense, there's a "consensus".
You have to realize that an agreement between some scientists is enough to make something scientific fact nowadays.
No need for the scientific method anymore. - barcardi, on 11/13/2009, -1/+18England needs more cameras, please fund our need for more cameras.
- piper999, on 11/13/2009, -1/+18The funny thing is that if you knew how the class system still works in Britain you wouldn't even be under the impression that we ever had 'personal liberties' beyond the ruling classes allowing us cheap beer inbetween periods of having to go off and die for them.
- ontain, on 11/13/2009, -2/+19the funny thing is that if something like this every happens you know it'll be after the rich have adopted more expensive green technologies so that this would end up robbing the poor and middle class.
- TheAngryMob, on 11/13/2009, -2/+17Rule Britannia!
Britannia rule the waves
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.
Guess we'll have to rewrite the song now. - GrodyChamp, on 11/13/2009, -5/+20So are you saying you'd love to pay a carbon tax? This is so ludicrous it's beyond a liberal/conservative talking point......unless you are super crazy one way or the other.
- tgc1, on 11/13/2009, -1/+16This is ***** insanity.
These governments and elites will not stop until there is a clear two tier class divide. With them on the top, and us serfs on the bottom. Begging and scraping away to get anywhere in life. And when we think we can reach up to move up the ladder we will feel the boot of these people on our faces. Kicking us down back into the gutter. And a voice will boom over a loud speaker "Know your place serf."
We must stand up and show these people what for, or the above will come swiftly and soon enough. History has proven time and time again, these things are inevitable unless the people fight the tyranny of the elites.
There is a more common saying which echoes this sentiment -- "You snooze, you lose" - roddack, on 11/13/2009, -10/+25and another step down the road of totalitarianism.
- Abatrour, on 11/13/2009, -2/+17Tin foil doesn't work!
That was just a rumor made up to sell more aluminum foil
/s - Abatrour, on 11/13/2009, -11/+26Alex Jones was right... :(
I for one DON'T welcome our New World Order overlords. - VarelseSoul, on 11/13/2009, -10/+24I agree! They like the idea of big government until it actually starts taking away their freedoms.
- mpn401, on 11/13/2009, -6/+19People. It's Britain. Stupid laws come out of there every day.
- NeddieSeagoon, on 11/13/2009, -0/+13Prediction: The people who came up with this will be mysteriously exempt from it.
- Chahrlie5, on 11/13/2009, -4/+17Keep smoking up your reefer and enjoy being taken for a ride by big government that uses climate change as another way to control and tax us even more.
The "consensus" is a ***** joke of a way for world governments to dupe lemmings like you over. - Barbarino, on 11/13/2009, -0/+12And us here in Florida keep wondering why so many Brits live here..
- Hexter, on 11/13/2009, -8/+20The government should care more about the economy then the environment.
- DankBuddz, on 11/13/2009, -3/+14And this is where environmental issues and legislation just DON'T get along.
- brickbat, on 11/13/2009, -3/+14You know how rich people don't pay any tax but the average guy gets a fat chunk taken out before he even sees it? Well, guess what...
- Chahrlie5, on 11/13/2009, -3/+14"So conservative"?
You mean people getting tired of taking it up the ass from government every which way it can? - stevebee, on 11/13/2009, -0/+11The whole PURPOSE of cap 'n trade is to raise the price of energy enough that it discourages people from using it.
- LoneStarLizard, on 11/13/2009, -5/+16great, I see that tyranny is taking hold in England. Next stop, USA
- neutron7, on 11/13/2009, -0/+10Cameras, GPS tracking on all cars, Carbon tax, Electronic ID,
soon everything not illegal will be mandatory!
if the experiment on social slavery works in "testbed UK" guess where it will go next? - jfitz369, on 11/13/2009, -5/+15@Acidosis - You think the military in the US and UK are robots? If the gov asked them to fight against there fellow citizens you don't think they'd rebel? The bankers only control us because of your type of mind set. Go buy a gun and stop being afraid of your neighbor.
- minoss, on 11/13/2009, -0/+10Don't worry, I'm sure most of the money made will go into figuring out how in the world you're supposed to track the carbon usage of every single person in your country. Just think of all the jobs and innovation it will create!
- Chahrlie5, on 11/13/2009, -2/+11No you're just a lemming who needs funding.
Just as big tabacco scientists said smoking was good for us, you need to say CO2 is killing us all to get your money.
What those of you "Scientists" in the climate change field are doing is ***** us all. - Brassbud, on 11/13/2009, -1/+10Pretty soon they'll be carbon taxes on food (it's just fuel for your body after all) and breathing. You'll also have to bury your ***** a mile underground to be sure bacteria don't eat it and release carbon.
The carbon cycle defines life on this planet, and to attempt to restrict it is nothing short of attempting to restrict life itself. - DisruptionFL, on 11/13/2009, -0/+9You get what you vote for.
- Chahrlie5, on 11/13/2009, -4/+12Keep buying into the ***** the "environmental scientists" put out to keep government funding flowing into their suckling mouths while they scare the ***** out of people and castrate society and economies with their scare tactics.
I'll laugh and wait to see what the next impending environmental calamity they claim is and laugh at lemmings like you again.
The only dumb ones are those that buy into this ***** and refuse to see what environmental scientists and power hungry politicians are using this farce for. - Opiate, on 11/13/2009, -0/+8Are we waking up yet people? The denial phase has to end soon.
- Corrosionx, on 11/13/2009, -1/+9There never WAS a debate.
We heard about it in the 80's. We knew there was no proof, it was just some feel-good thing the environmentalists came up with. There was no need to debunk it then, nobody took it seriously, but the media and environmentalist groups ate it up. They let it ferment in our minds, then in the 2000's the big boots came on the scene screaming "GLOBAL WARMING IS REAL AND IS GONNA KILL US ALL", "THE ONLY WAY TO SAVE THE EARTH IS TO TAX CARBON" and especially "THE DEBATE IS OVER" when there never was any to begin with.
Now real scientists come on the scene saying "Uh... when was the debate, I got an opinion" and they're blown off because government bureaucrats who work for the IPCC (your 97% consensus) decided they already knew the facts AND the future.
It is all ***** RETARDED. Enron came up with this ponzi scheme, they would be running it today if they didn't get caught. - partrow, on 11/14/2009, -0/+7Don't snicker, our country is headed in that direction as we speak.
- veriix, on 11/13/2009, -1/+8No, but she can still wheel-barrel...oh god why would I say that!
- scamper22, on 11/13/2009, -0/+7that's what thing you have to admire about Asia.
At least when their governments want to waste money, they build bridges, roads, high speed trains...
When Western Governments want to waste money, they create bureaucracy and every other thing imaginable to make your life more difficult. -
