People get falsely convicted and such a punishment is not reversible at least they could be released from prison. The only situation that would seem to remove the possibility of an innocent conviction would be against repeat offenders, but by then they would probably end up in prison anyway.

And what about rehabilitation? If he is a repeat offender after three attempts to rehabilitate him, what is to say the fourth attempt will not be successful?
It's a very tough call and I doubt that they can come up with a definitive age definition for a 1st degree sex offender who shows no positive sign of being rehabilitated.
Only in the most extreme of cases do I believe that it should be forced. If several children have been victimized, on several separate occasions, and several attempts to rehabilitate the man are unsuccessful ... again, I say hand me the scissors and I will do it myself. You missed the primary reason. It's mutilation: torture. We don't do this in civilised cultures. Just as we know that the frontal lobotomy is abhorrent, cutting off hands for stealing is the place of barbaric cultures. It's very very simple. If a man repeat offends, deal with it in the same manner as we do with current repeat offenders of any crime. Review the causes, seek psychiatric help, and keep him in jail for longer next time. -
