European powers refuse to send more troops to Afghanistan

Hm... that could be an option - not the best but a realistic one - if the Bush administration was to be in charge for a while. Here in "Old Europe", NATO always has been considered to be run by americans, more or less. This is becoming annoyingly true nowadays.
An alliance doesn't mean that the bigger fish owns the other ones and has them swimming his way. If NATO tends to become this, it'll die by itself and the loss will be minimal, the alliance having lost its substance.
Dugg, sadly.
