English Newspaper Starts Campaign to End Knife Crimes
thisislondon.co.uk — London is not helpless. It can, and must, show teenagers that carrying knives inevitably leads to tragedy ... 11 young lives have been lost already this year. Here is the Standard's five-point plan.

- CaptainAmerica1, on 06/02/2008, -0/+4Big surprise...people use "things" to commit crimes of violence other than their fists.
Guns
Knives
Baseball bats
Screwdrivers
Golf clubs
Hammers
Pliers
etc...
England banned guns because they were being used in crimes
Now, after a huge surge in crimes where people are using knives, England struggles with what to do to prevent "knife crime."
If knives are banned, then it will be a baseball bat
If baseball bats are banned, then it will be screwdrivers
And on and on they will go.
Until they get to the *real* problem...which is people...not "things."
My suggestion -- get right to the root, don't bother with banning "things." - Stevanoski, on 06/02/2008, -1/+2Knives are just too pointy and sharp. Why can't they carry a piece of 1/2" angle iron or some expanded metal?
