- Hillsfar, on 12/25/2008, -1/+26It's sad when elderly family members are abandoned and made lonely. I think it only makes sense in these economic times for many families to consider extended households - like having granny live in a studio cottage in the back yard, or in a spare bedroom where her Social Security money can help pay the bills and she can help watch the kids while the adults go out to work.
- Zeigy, on 12/26/2008, -0/+18For every two young people they arrest they catch three old people in Northern Japan.
It's because the young ones are faster. - drknockrz, on 12/26/2008, -2/+14Have you guys ever heard Patton Oswalt on age? He posits that after 90 years old, one law shouldn't apply to people per year. When you're 90 you can litter, when you're 95 you can steal whatever you can grab with your ancient hands, when you're 100 you can legally murder people, as long as it's by punching them to death. And if you get punched to death by an 100-year-old, you deserve to die.
- jayrok, on 12/26/2008, -1/+13Nothin beats the blues like swiping some Pocky sticks.
- inactive, on 12/26/2008, -2/+11The problem is a lot of elderly are even harder to look after than children, and are even less grateful for what you do for them.
- Hetman, on 12/26/2008, -2/+10She will divorce you take all your money and then you will be forced to turn to a life of crime. You will be lonely in a foreign country with no friends for comfort. And she will be ugly and be horrible in bed. Life is a bitch.
- RSS14, on 12/26/2008, -1/+9I am Indian and that is how my house is. In fact, I have never found an Indian family where the grandparents are left in a retirement home. My grandma takes care of the kids, and lends her pension whenever we need it. We give her love in return. It is a much better system, as we are taking care of her, for taking care of us.
Highly recommended, A+++++, comes with extra morality - wownotagain123, on 12/26/2008, -4/+12But I cant hit that old woman, it goes against everything I have been taught!
- Ragarnok, on 12/26/2008, -3/+8Respect thy elders just stole my psp
- haikuFU, on 12/26/2008, -8/+13Geeza' stole my bike!
- Barackalypse, on 12/26/2008, -0/+5Really, loneliness? Is there any excuse we won't use to try and rationalize illegal behavior like this?
- inactive, on 12/26/2008, -1/+6And the irony is that if you and I are lucky, we'll one day be one of those elderly people who no one wants to take care of. And if we're unlucky, we'll remember how we treated the elderly when we were younger, and we'll note the sourest of poetries in it.
Though not as sour as theirs today, I suspect. There was a different feeling when our parents and grandparents were taking care of THEIR parents and grandparents. I can't imagine what it would be like to have dutifully taken care of my own parents and grandparents the very best I could, only to be abandoned by ***** whom the world would have been better off without in the first place. - drknockrz, on 12/26/2008, -1/+6Nobody has seen a true ninja except out of the corner of their eye- right before they get murdered. Nobody knows what they look like. They could all be old people.
- takeo1775, on 12/26/2008, -3/+8I met an old lady in my Ninjutsu club. Dont be fooled by an aged appearance, she could use a Katana just fine.
- MattBD, on 12/26/2008, -1/+5I don't know. Old people these days...Got no respect!
- etx313, on 12/26/2008, -1/+5What if your potential beautiful Japanese wife is a ninja? Surely you will become a ninja as well and turn to a life of crime.
- inactive, on 12/26/2008, -1/+5*****
- graemee, on 12/26/2008, -2/+6Real Ninjas don't get seen or caught.
- inactive, on 12/26/2008, -0/+3These old people don't know where they are and no longer care!
- Smokeydabear, on 12/26/2008, -3/+6My grandfather told me about this years ago! I should have believed the old bastard.
- jftitan, on 12/26/2008, -1/+4yeah, I can't find myself chasing and lineback tackling an old person.
That snotty nosed kid that calls me an ***** everytime I say hello, now I can tackle and do more damage to that kid without remorse. - inactive, on 12/26/2008, -1/+4It was Jerry's uncle, Uncle Leo.
- ansatsu29, on 12/26/2008, -1/+4O_O
So people, learn to pay respects to the elderly or they'll slash you with a Katana. - Smokeydabear, on 12/26/2008, -1/+4You've never met the man, trust me, he's kind of a bastard.
- mnky9800n, on 12/26/2008, -0/+3I think the real problem is how am I going to build a studio cottage in the back yard in these hard economic times!
- dungbeetle, on 12/26/2008, -0/+3Choose to starve or choose to steal? It's not really poor decisions so much as it is being stuck between a rock and a hard place.
- smartnose, on 12/27/2008, -0/+2There's no old ninjas.
They just retired. - YodaJones, on 12/26/2008, -3/+5Laws are just kinda like guidelines....
- inactive, on 12/26/2008, -2/+4I'm immigrating to Japan someday, I hope this doesn't happen to me. :(
Hopefully I'll find a beautiful Japanese wife and have a successful job, and not be forced to turn to a life of crime. - Merp08, on 12/26/2008, -0/+2lol?
- spacerobot, on 12/26/2008, -1/+3Wasn't there a Seinfeld episode about this? Where George's father was shoplifting because he could get away with it with his age?
- derekmas10, on 12/26/2008, -3/+5I used to shoplift 'cause of loneliness too, but then the cop I met was such an ***** I decided I was finished with love.
- bigboss0101, on 12/26/2008, -1/+3bastard? grandfather?
Dont know what to say... - Aokubidaikon, on 12/27/2008, -0/+2Who care about shoplifting Japanese eldery?
More Japanese elderly should be arrested for traffic violations!
Seriously, they are a hazard on the roads.
They pull up right in front of you when you almost don't have any time to slam on the brakes.
They drive at 75% percent of the speed limit (and Japan already has the lowest speed limits in the world!).
They swerve halfway onto the right lane before making a left turn.
Parking backwards takes 5 tries and even then they take up two parking spaces with their mini-truck.
They turn on their indicators only when they're already halfway through the turn.
If they drive a moped they will stick to the center of the road while drive at 20% of the speed limit.
They will gladly run a red light which turned red three seconds ago.
Ah... venting does feel good. - Frnnkdlxx, on 12/26/2008, -2/+4Awww. That's so sad. What happened to classic suicide? I'm going to drop my typical American prejudices and say that I truly respect, admire, and envy the Japanese system at time. It's always sad when the elderly of an advanced nations population are reduced to such standards because the banks can't help themselves.
If you know anything about the history of the Japanese miracle economy, you'd know that it was because of Western Bankers flooding them with capital, allowing them to churn out the liquid capital and then randomly pulling the plug, presumably because the Japanese peoples technological progress was threatening to the world heirarchy. Now, they slide backwards as we all will. Here in America it's just as bad, old women and children walk the streets, starving to death, cold, alone. I'm black, and when I saw a blonde haired blue eyed little boy no older than 6 stranded on the streets, it really brought it home to me that in the end, it's not about race, but about money and power and the machinations of world domination of the elite. - hyderalamgir, on 12/27/2008, -0/+2Who else shoplifts when lonely?
- ansatsu29, on 12/26/2008, -1/+3It is expected that with the advent of the recession and tough economic times, petty crimes are on the rise. Japan is having a problem with their job market. Their job market is turning into a temporary one, meaning, most of the jobs out there are only offering partial or temporary employment.
- ladyarcher85, on 12/27/2008, -0/+2The same goes for us Filipinos. It's working for us quite well too. Besides I just can't bear the thought of placing my parents in a foster home just because they're already old and can't function like they used to.
They took care of me when I was little, juggling job and the family and provide for our needs and I never heard my parents complain about it. I guess doing the same for them in their old age is only the right thing to do and simply because I love them. - bukiyou, on 12/27/2008, -0/+2yeah :D; 2nd+ gen asian girls cringe at that type of attitude.
it's really better for all parties for you to be over there. - gkiltz, on 12/27/2008, -0/+1Someone has to cover for the lack of juveniles. There's not enough teenagers in Japan to sustain the crime business!! Someone has to keep the jails full and the courts busy! You can't just lay off judges!!
- FXNGLAS, on 12/26/2008, -1/+2Senior Citizen Ninjas?
This needs it's own TV show or movie! - PaulOwen, on 12/26/2008, -1/+2I'm not sure why you were dugg down.
Couples both have to go to work these days to afford a decent house. That is if there is any work for them ... - inactive, on 01/02/2009, -1/+2Hahaha, you take her money and make her work and you give her LOVE in return! Sweet. Maybe you could work a little harder so you don't have to dip into grandma's pension at least, you high holy bastard.
- inactive, on 12/26/2008, -1/+2JERRY! HELLOOOOO!
- inactive, on 12/26/2008, -6/+5It's not to make ends meet. Its simply because they have finally became old and wise in the way of the ninja and now can complete these tasks then relying on drug money...
- aserer511, on 12/26/2008, -4/+2fail rule leads to fail society
- inactive, on 12/26/2008, -4/+2The reason they do it has nothing to do with what they claim. They do it because of poor choice making ability, nothing else.
There is always a choice in life...ALWAYS. - bgeci, on 12/26/2008, -6/+3This is Bushs fault....
