- ronllave, on 07/29/2008, -1/+15Felt it here in Palm Springs. Is it sad that my first reaction was to go to Digg?
- vuthy, on 07/29/2008, -1/+11I'm Los Angeles, right near Universal Studios. Our office (6th floor) starting rumbling slowly and then picked up steam. Things moved around a little, nothing fell. It lasted a relatively long time (maybe 15 seconds). Biggest one I've felt in 8 years of living in LA. While I thought it was pretty cool, a coworker ran into a doorway looking scared to death, and now 30 minutes later, another coworker still looks like she's gonna cry.

Originally reported as 5.6, than was reviewed by a seismologist and brought up to 5.8, now it's showing as a 5.4

- mayhemchaos, on 07/29/2008, -1/+6twitter is more up to date which gives me confidence that all will be ok and up-to-date during the Zombie Apocolypse

- fastlane44, on 07/29/2008, -1/+5I'm in North LA...no structural damage or internal disruption in our workplace. 5-10 seconds of lateral movement.

- soccernamlak, on 07/29/2008, -1/+4Apparently Flashtone forgot to turn on his SarcasmLock before he made his post...
- ejrizo, on 07/29/2008, -0/+3I was in Downtwon Los Angeles,,, and it started slow but gradually increased. Rolling turned to more of a violent shaking and was over soon after ...maybe 15 seconds... but did shake up nerves.... have a couple of staff that are not LA natives and they are pretty shook up. Everyone about (25) people in our office was extremely dissapointed about the fact that not one person was able to use their Cell Phones after the quake. all carriers.... overall its just more of a reality check and a reminder.
Glad there was no major damage and what seems to be no lives lost. - seks03, on 07/29/2008, -0/+3I'm in Chino and can tell you that it was hardly anything... honestly it felt like a big semi truck passing by for like 15 seconds followed by another one for about 5 seconds... the news blew this way out of proportion and I'm literately looking at images of spilled shampoo bottles in an aisle... what a f-ing joke
- Flashtone, on 07/29/2008, -0/+3/sarcasm
- Kenzan, on 07/29/2008, -1/+4I'd hardly call what Starbucks sells "Coffee" my good man.

- ogmak, on 07/29/2008, -1/+4Hmm, now USGS downgrades quake magnitude to 5.4....
- TheRhinoceros, on 07/29/2008, -1/+4No damage is a happy thing. Good to see that there's no human tragedy here, at least from the quake.
- Warpling, on 07/29/2008, -2/+4Shook my chair here in San Diego, the local crane, however, did not dramatically groan and fall.
- trollick, on 07/29/2008, -2/+413th floor in downtown. Bring it on, bitch!
- vuthy, on 07/29/2008, -1/+3My coworker was on the road at the time and didn't feel a thing.
- ngmcs8203, on 07/29/2008, -1/+3Looters for a 5.8? Wow... today's was nothing compared to the Northridge quake. Looters are looking for any opportunity I guess.
- slifty, on 07/29/2008, -2/+4Thanks, but I think CNN can survive the Digg effect.

- JEM916, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1Me too! I can't imagine what the 5.8 felt like, if we definitely felt it here...
