It was a 5.6. It hit Alum Rock, and San Jose. I am in Stockton too and felt it pretty nicely.- gyrfalcon, on 11/01/2007, -40/+5Wake up folks and stop global warming!!! All the ice melting in the artic along with the fires are making the tectonic plates in California unstable!

- haiduz, on 11/01/2007, -1/+20Clearly this earth quake was cause by alqeuda and not global warming. Try watching foxnews instead of cnn if you want reliable information.

Assholes.

- Y0tsuya, on 10/31/2007, -1/+2Funny, I was driving through Milpitas on I-880 at that exact time. Didn't feel a thing.
- merwin, on 10/31/2007, -1/+3You might not feel an earthquake while driving. Your shocks take most of the force (unless it's a really big quake). Would probably just feel like the road is a little bumpy, if you feel it at all.
- 1town, on 11/01/2007, -2/+20Just heard the latest on FOX: Apparantly Al Quaida have been planning to attack America by instigating earthquakes.
- SnowSurfns, on 11/01/2007, -9/+1hmmm seems like quite a lot of natural disasters lately, maybe someone is trying to tell us something...
- holzp, on 10/31/2007, -0/+5Shhhh.. I was with the wife and as far as she knows, it was not Mother Nature making the walls shake got it?
- gyrfalcon, on 11/01/2007, -40/+5Wake up folks and stop global warming!!! All the ice melting in the artic along with the fires are making the tectonic plates in California unstable!
- guyperson, on 11/01/2007, -1/+4Right here in South San Jose.
- sockpuppets, on 11/01/2007, -3/+88San Jose =/= San Francisco. There's at least 20% fewer Starbucks.
- InitialDMP5, on 11/01/2007, -3/+4I'm in San Francisco, and I definitely felt it, so even though the epicenter was in San Jose, that doesn't mean we didn't feel it. And I'm from Stockton, funny to see a few people here on Digg.
- Tiak, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1East Bay here, and I didn't notice a thing....
- InitialDMP5, on 11/01/2007, -3/+4I'm in San Francisco, and I definitely felt it, so even though the epicenter was in San Jose, that doesn't mean we didn't feel it. And I'm from Stockton, funny to see a few people here on Digg.
- MASH007, on 11/01/2007, -3/+84I live in San Jose. My family jumped under the table when they felt the earthquake which lasted for a few seconds. I was driving down 85 S @ 85mph which means my 110hp toyota corolla was already shaking to the point I didnt even notice the earthquake.
- jus1haz2, on 10/31/2007, -9/+3haha
- djphatjive, on 11/02/2007, -24/+2Now I know your lying, 85 MPH on a California Highway! Yea Right!
- Shaunt, on 11/01/2007, -3/+15Dude, everyone goes ~80-90 in California unless theres traffic.
- ebcreasoner, on 10/31/2007, -1/+3Yup, that's California. Moved to Washington last year and people, for the most part, drive the speed limit.
DAMN IT! My 10 minute drive to work could be 5 minutes less. - superal1394, on 10/31/2007, -0/+5You must be speaking of Washington state, cause in DC people drive scary fast in bumper to bumper traffic.
- eatspie, on 11/01/2007, -8/+0Pussycat in San Francisco.
Assholes. - mywhitenoise, on 10/31/2007, -0/+3I'm in CA, and most people don't drive 80 or 90, not worth getting pulled over for wreckless driving.
They definitely go past the speed limit (probably around 70 - 75), but rarely 85.
- ebcreasoner, on 10/31/2007, -1/+3Yup, that's California. Moved to Washington last year and people, for the most part, drive the speed limit.
- Shaunt, on 11/01/2007, -3/+15Dude, everyone goes ~80-90 in California unless theres traffic.
- sockpuppets, on 11/01/2007, -16/+8Prius owners thought they hit another deaf guy.
- ozid, on 10/31/2007, -3/+23I don't get it. A deaf guy wouldn't hear any car coming, regardless of its noise output.
- InitialDMP5, on 11/01/2007, -3/+12you almost have that joke. Just switch it around. The deaf guy didn't hear the car hit them, and the prius owner didn't care.
- ozid, on 10/31/2007, -1/+9Isn't it supposed to be blind person? As he wouldn't be able to hear or see it coming?
- scoot2006, on 10/31/2007, -3/+1blind people can still hear...
- mywhitenoise, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2No *****, but a Prius is really quiet.
- sockpuppets, on 11/01/2007, -1/+14My fail. Thought blind typed deaf.
http://digg.com/environment/Blind_people_in_anger_ ...- ozid, on 10/31/2007, -1/+3Ah.
- ozid, on 10/31/2007, -3/+23I don't get it. A deaf guy wouldn't hear any car coming, regardless of its noise output.
- Marijuana, on 11/01/2007, -7/+58I felt it in Modesto. I was laying in bed thinking I was having an Exorcist moment. Yes I was high.
- LaueOfficer, on 10/31/2007, -2/+5That was implied with the Modesto comment. Personally, I would have thought it was those pesky Ninjas celebrating their parade.
- titopuente, on 11/01/2007, -1/+23I would think his name and avatar would make it slightly more obvious.
- Iknockstuffdown, on 10/31/2007, -1/+3Strange to see another Modestan (or whatever we're supposed to call ourselves) on digg, I didn't feel the quake though, I was sitting in a Starbucks in the most comfortable couch I've ever sat in. Didn't even feel a tremor.
- eatspie, on 11/02/2007, -8/+0Pussycat in San Francisco.

- djphatjive, on 10/31/2007, -10/+3Is my fly open again?
- gyrfalcon, on 11/02/2007, -15/+8Felt it in Minnesota. I was laying in bed stroking off and could feel the vibration as I erupted.
- stevedclarke, on 10/31/2007, -0/+8So the Earth moved for you, eh? Are you gonna see yourself again?
- gyrfalcon, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1Most definitely!
- stevedclarke, on 10/31/2007, -0/+8So the Earth moved for you, eh? Are you gonna see yourself again?
- YoshoKatana, on 10/31/2007, -2/+3Felt it in San Ramon, east bay. I thought my house had become a boat for a few seconds. I'm really not used to earthquakes.
- fallenone05, on 11/01/2007, -1/+6I hate it when my house becomes a boat, it's so annoying!
- FlyingSpaghetti, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1It comes in handy when it's time to move.
- fallenone05, on 11/01/2007, -1/+6I hate it when my house becomes a boat, it's so annoying!
- Gir53457, on 11/01/2007, -2/+8San Jose here, They ***** interrupted Charlie Brown for it. I WAS RECORDING THAT THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
And they cut off the intro to House so they could find "Eye Witness interviews" in a city of over a million people who just had an earthquake. - noclue, on 10/31/2007, -1/+8I totally thought that said Stockholm at first. Now that's an earthquake!
- eatspie, on 11/01/2007, -4/+0Pussycat in San Francisco.
BOO!!
- eatspie, on 11/01/2007, -4/+0Pussycat in San Francisco.
- PunkRampant, on 10/31/2007, -1/+2I'm in east San Jose (right next to the hills where the epicenter was). I gotta say, it was pretty cool.
My family went nuts with panic, though.- mikeon, on 10/31/2007, -1/+3It lasted longer than the usual earthquakes too. Here in San Francisco I'm up near the peak of a hill. I heard the familiar rumbling coming and knew it was an earthquake about to hit. Dinner at the time so I said to my parents "Earthquake" and they didn't seem to understand what I was saying. Shaking starts for about 3-6 more seconds and I tell them "this earthquake." Course they just stare at me like I'm crazy and say all they hear is rumbling even though all the dishes and tables in the house was shaking.
- quaxon, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2Im in san francisco right in the middle of the city and barely felt it, our fish tank shook a bit and you could definetly tell there was an earthquake but it was hardly strong here at all. I lived in southern california during the northridge earthquake as well as a bunch of other huge ones, now im in SF and will prolly be here when the big one hits, cant wait!
- theXenon, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2I was in Heroic Mechanar when our Tank and our Healer suddenly shouted "earthquake" on vent. Glad everyone's okay.
- meachen, on 10/31/2007, -3/+1Isn't Stockholm a bit far away from SF?
- eatspie, on 11/01/2007, -8/+0Pussycat in San Francisco.
BOO!

just some light reading...
- Wyattx17, on 10/31/2007, -1/+11http://quake.wr.usgs.gov/recenteqs/Quakes/nc402046 ...
- Mpwns, on 10/31/2007, -2/+10felt real good here in south san jo since it happened here less than ten minutes ago 5.6
- iceman0113, on 10/31/2007, -2/+1Yeh, I hope everything's fine there. My mom just called after not being able to for an hour. I'm away at school.
- jmreid, on 10/31/2007, -2/+3It felt solid in Cupertino. First quake experience here. Freaky. It felt like the building was made of jello
- sockpuppets, on 11/01/2007, -4/+34That was just Steve Jobs leaving the building for the night.
- anti_hax0r, on 10/31/2007, -5/+5his fat head hit the top of the doorway
- Bologner, on 11/01/2007, -12/+59Everyone knows this is happening because God hates fags.
- sockpuppets, on 11/01/2007, -5/+59I guess your house was the epicenter?
- drgmdp, on 11/01/2007, -18/+5-1 for failing at sarcasm
+1 for clever offensiveness- simpleblob, on 10/31/2007, -9/+3-1 for dumb offensiveness
- AriaStar, on 10/31/2007, -0/+20+5.6 hit points for the earth
- drgmdp, on 11/01/2007, -18/+5-1 for failing at sarcasm
- Bologner, on 11/01/2007, -4/+28I hope everyone realizes the sarcasm in my comment.
If not, please get help.- AriaStar, on 11/01/2007, -9/+4Sarcasm was noted, but not funny.
- 89vision, on 10/31/2007, -0/+8It was extremely funny, I even asked my gay friend just to be sure.
- jmreid, on 11/01/2007, -0/+5Whew... we're cool then. Continue to laugh everyone.
- jpop, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1I thought it was because Bush hates California?
- sockpuppets, on 11/01/2007, -5/+59I guess your house was the epicenter?
- AuburnTigers, on 10/31/2007, -1/+1Dang I couldn't feel it in Central California...but I was in my car, so it's probably harder to detect in there.
- AriaStar, on 10/31/2007, -2/+2I'm a few miles from the epicenter, north SJ. Everything was shaking so hard I thought the building might be blowing up. I couldn't decide what to do, to stand in the doorway or run outside in case the building was blowing up after all (I was worried about something like a gas leak going KABOOM). I couldn't get cell coverage, panicked more, then went to work where I could use the land line to all Nick. I got his voice mail. Thankfully he called me back. I went to his place and that made me feel better, though one of his roommates said it looked like I thought the world was over. Nick had plans I knew about earlier, so he left after a short while, and I made fried fish for me and the other guys, smoked a bowl (it calms me down and I was really shaken up), and then felt better a little more, and now I'm home.
I walked through some of the halls in these buildings and there's building damage, light fixtures that fell out and such. I'm scared to sleep in case it happens again and I can't get out in time and everything falls on me.
Thing is I was here for the 1989 quake too, and I vividly remember what happened and I guess it traumatized me more than I thought.- inspecality, on 10/31/2007, -0/+9phew, thank God that Nick is OK
- tyywebb, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1This is a digg comment.......this is a digg comment on drugs.
- andypatil, on 11/01/2007, -6/+29I stay in Sunnyvale,CA and I felt it. First experience in a house. Thought the house was going to fall down. Scariest 5~10 seconds of my life. Good Kick Of To Halloween
- sockpuppets, on 10/31/2007, -15/+2Eeewww, Scummyvale. :P
- arial, on 10/31/2007, -1/+2I'm currently in SF and I didn't feel anything.
- boneill428, on 10/31/2007, -1/+5In SF at a bar... definitely didn't feel it. Haha
- inspecality, on 11/01/2007, -6/+2a gay bar
hahahaha- holzp, on 10/31/2007, -0/+3-1 Redundant
- inspecality, on 11/01/2007, -6/+2a gay bar
- sahaskatta, on 10/31/2007, -1/+1saratoga and los gatos areas felt it too!
- AfterbrthTycoon, on 10/31/2007, -1/+8It was fun man, not scary. Try the 89 earthquake that was scary. It was on the magnitude of a few hundred times stronger. Think almost impossible to walk a steady line. Now that quake was off the hook.
- egyber, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1technically you were walking in a straight line... just the line was moving.
- amitku, on 10/31/2007, -0/+15.6 vs 7.1....not really a difference of a hundreds, more like 50x.
- Vodka2389, on 10/31/2007, -1/+3I'm in Sunnyvale too and it wasn't scary at all. Just felt like on a small boat.
- devo6273, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2Me too. I was only afraid that it was a foreshock... just FYI, the Great Chilean Earthquake had a foreshock about 36 hours before the main event. Fun to think about on Halloween. :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Chilean_Earthqu ...
- jerbaker, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2You've never been in an earthquake before if a 5.6 felt like it was going to knock the house down. Keep in mind that the Richter scale is logarithmic. That means even a 6.6 is ten times as powerful as a 5.6, and most of our notorious quakes in California have been at least that large.
- bds268, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1If that was really the scariest 5-10sec of your life....step away from the computer man
- Wyattx17, on 11/01/2007, -5/+126I just felt here in Stockton too! My friend sent me a message saying "earthquake". Literally 1 second later my room was shaking. Looks like word travels faster than earthquakes.
Here is a good link for information. Hit in Alum rock and San Jose.
http://quake.wr.usgs.gov/recenteqs/Quakes/nc402046 ...- DiggzDE, on 11/01/2007, -2/+79Your friend has mad texting skills to be able to beat earthquakes like that.
- FuriousGopher, on 10/31/2007, -3/+1That or MSN, which would be much quicker
- renatoc8, on 10/31/2007, -4/+1Your friend can type faster then the speed of sound, grats! Well, at least the internet is, im guessing broadband? :)
- Tiak, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1Sound travels at around 760 mph. Over, let's say 10 miles, that's a good 45 seconds. Typing can take a good 40 seconds, followed by the speeds of light/electrons through conductive mediums the rest of the way (followed of course by human reaction time).
- Frnnkdlxx, on 11/01/2007, -14/+2ARE ALL SAN FRANCISCO RESIDENTS DEAD!...
No?
oh...
Maybe next time...- AriaStar, on 11/01/2007, -3/+3Heartless prick.
BTW, it was 50 miles from San Francisco.
- AriaStar, on 11/01/2007, -3/+3Heartless prick.
- Retuow, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsww/Qu ...
this site is working - Suruxia, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2Yeah! I was in Stockton too, at Delta, and freakin', the whole school got dismissed like IMMMEDATELY. It was freaky.
- AriaStar, on 10/31/2007, -1/+2Gotta love technology.
- DiggzDE, on 11/01/2007, -2/+79Your friend has mad texting skills to be able to beat earthquakes like that.
- superrandomguy, on 10/31/2007, -10/+4 i was in the car and didn't feel anything. and I'm 10 miles from the epicenter :-(
- latrosicarius, on 10/31/2007, -5/+1watchout for the aFtErShOcK!
- getoffmylawn, on 10/31/2007, -5/+0Same here... I was on the bus. I've been in California for 2 years now, and I've never felt an earthquake cause I'm always in the car or asleep. Oh well.
- Gir53457, on 10/31/2007, -4/+1Oh you would have woken up for this one. And that's one hell of a suspension system you got.
- neckfire, on 11/01/2007, -4/+34San Jose actually.
Felt like a 3 in Oakland- FortyCaliber, on 11/01/2007, -1/+13Actually it was kind of soft and gentle in Oakland. Almost comforting.
- Tiak, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1...What else would a 3 feel like? (remember, logrithmic scale.)
- fallenone05, on 10/31/2007, -0/+8I didn't feel a thing here, in Florida.
- FortyCaliber, on 11/01/2007, -1/+13Actually it was kind of soft and gentle in Oakland. Almost comforting.
- beartrash, on 10/31/2007, -5/+7This was my first moderate earthquake. The light earthquakes are fun. THIS, was actually scary.
- sockpuppets, on 10/31/2007, -3/+4I thought it was fun. The "rolly type" of earthquakes scare me senseless. I'm not sure which is more dangerous.
- beartrash, on 10/31/2007, -1/+21I don't mind the bouncers, but this was my first shaker. Yuck.
My Halloween costume for tomorrow is a pair of pee-stained pants and a shirt that reads, "Did you feel that?"- paloooz, on 10/31/2007, -1/+1Do a barrel roll!
- beartrash, on 10/31/2007, -1/+21I don't mind the bouncers, but this was my first shaker. Yuck.
- Rikushix, on 10/31/2007, -1/+3I live in Vancouver BC, so I remember exactly where I was when that 5 or 6 magnitude earthquake hit northwest washingston: On the third story of my school, and I remember looking outside and seeing the highway rolling. I'll never forget that sight. Of course to us, it was about a 3 or a 4 in Vancouver so I can't imagine what living near the epicenter of this one would be like.
- dragoneye, on 10/31/2007, -1/+1I remember that too. I was in a portable building and it just started moving back and forth (I actually thought they were working underneath), after it stopped we finally realized that it was an earthquake.
The joke throughout the school was that one guy caused it because when it hit he was just coming out from under a desk after giving an example of what to do in a earthquake.
- dragoneye, on 10/31/2007, -1/+1I remember that too. I was in a portable building and it just started moving back and forth (I actually thought they were working underneath), after it stopped we finally realized that it was an earthquake.
- quaxon, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1haha trust me, this was a very moderate one compared to previous earthquakes, especially up here in the city, it felt a little more than when a bus goes by fast.
- sockpuppets, on 10/31/2007, -3/+4I thought it was fun. The "rolly type" of earthquakes scare me senseless. I'm not sure which is more dangerous.
- rbenech, on 10/31/2007, -3/+11Oh, this one was fun... definitely felt like a 5+...
Let em know how it felt!
http://pasadena.wr.usgs.gov/shake/ca/STORE/X402046 ... - kcchan1, on 10/31/2007, -3/+27I'm in Fremont, less than 10 miles away. It was pretty scary feeling a 5.6 for a first time.
- ClunkClunk, on 10/31/2007, -2/+1I'm also in Fremont. It felt fairly moderate, but it rose and fell in intensity during the 20 seconds that it seemed like it was going to get bigger and worse.
- Apoc, on 10/31/2007, -2/+1My aunt and uncle live in Fremont, good to know nothing serious happened, they should be fine. I'll call tomorrow to double check though.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/31/2007, -3/+2aw comon, 5.6 isn't all that major. Here in Washington (state), we had a 6.8 a few years ago. I can remember two similar strength earthquakes in my lifetime (i'm 18), it always seems like a lot of fun.
As long as it doesn't go above 7... - jeszus, on 10/31/2007, -2/+1Looks like someone got his cherry poped
- ClunkClunk, on 10/31/2007, -2/+1I'm also in Fremont. It felt fairly moderate, but it rose and fell in intensity during the 20 seconds that it seemed like it was going to get bigger and worse.
- ACitizenofCambe, on 10/31/2007, -3/+4yep same here in palo alto. i felt that a lot. warehouse where i work does NOT seem so earthquake friendly
- androothebear, on 10/31/2007, -1/+1my brother lives in palo alto. any notable damage or anything worth worrying about??
- AfterbrthTycoon, on 10/31/2007, -0/+0Im in palo alto also and though I hear some reports of light damage I can't imagine anyone actually being injured in this. Maybe a few broken dishes. The scary part about a quake like this is you are waiting to see if its going to get bigger or not. Its hard to explain but that not knowing for 20 seconds is a little scary.
- 1bl1s, on 10/31/2007, -4/+4felt it in Pacfica . Probably one of the more poweful ones I've felt in awhile.
- clh201, on 10/31/2007, -6/+3This was my second earthquake... Even though it was in San Jose, here in SF it still shook the bookshelves pretty well (but nothing fell off) The dog was freaked out. I bet it did some damage in Silicon Valley.
- 1bl1s, on 10/31/2007, -11/+5 fun
- stevedclarke, on 10/31/2007, -3/+1That's what she said.
- antijava, on 10/31/2007, -3/+19Felt it in Santa Clara. My first significant quake since moving to CA. I guess it is a rite of initiation or something.
- kertong, on 10/31/2007, -1/+3Same here. I'm right off lick mill, and I actually heard the ground rumble, and the apartment buildings here were clattering and shaking.
Lot of sirens afterwards. Hope everyone is ok.
Oh, and - welcome to CA! :) - amitku, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1Haha my friend who just moved here from Colorado thought the world was ending.
- kertong, on 10/31/2007, -1/+3Same here. I'm right off lick mill, and I actually heard the ground rumble, and the apartment buildings here were clattering and shaking.
- musicnoteless, on 10/31/2007, -3/+3Felt it in Milpitas. Felt and sounded like a something was crashing down. I ran the ***** out of my house.
- INHUMANITY, on 11/01/2007, -7/+237I was in kitchen making popcorn and felt a light rumble. A few seconds later it got violent and I peeked into the living room seeing my 47" Vizio swaying. I ran to it and protected it over the well being of everything else.
I wonder if my apartment rental insurance covers earthquake damages to personal property.- gidiv, on 10/31/2007, -6/+166dugg for priorities

- nymphetamine, on 11/01/2007, -6/+182So is your Vizio ok? How's it holding up?
- sockpuppets, on 10/31/2007, -5/+3Costco takes anything back. Boy they almost regretted that.
- TaylorTAP, on 10/31/2007, -2/+1They used to but now their return policy blows donkey balls.
- sockpuppets, on 11/01/2007, -1/+11As I'm a donkey I'd be very interested in learning more about this recent development.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/31/2007, -1/+2Yeah apparently they will suck your balls if you try to return any product after a certain number of days.. I wish i was a donkey..

- emomakesmecry, on 10/31/2007, -6/+4lol. consumerism ftw!
I'd do the same thing actually. I already have a plan that if my apt. caught fire I'd grab up all my music and computer equipment before I could leave. - AnotherBrian, on 10/31/2007, -4/+15Is the popcorn maker ok?
- MalDON, on 10/31/2007, -8/+1"I was in my kitchen cleaning a dish"
did anyone else thing there was going to be a Dane Cook joke after reading the beginning? - Sixcolors, on 10/31/2007, -2/+2They asked if I wanted earthquake insurance when I applied for renters insurance. I turned it down because I live on the hill and people told me that landfill areas are the worst hit and those on solid ground don't have to worry as much. I might change my mind soon. XD
- amgamer23, on 10/31/2007, -0/+4Did you at least get the volcano insurance?

- Dylan47, on 10/31/2007, -0/+14YOU started the earthquake with your popcorn!!
- Icetype, on 10/31/2007, -0/+9If you get married, you'll have a real decision next earthquake.

- brjndr, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1I just moved to San Francisco, and this was my first earth quake here, although I grewin the central valley. I was on the couch watching TV when my apartment started moving. I didn't do any of the stuff you're supposed to do, like move away from windows and under a table, I just sat there petrified, because it was moving pretty good. Then I saw my Sharp LCD sway on the stand and I instantly bolted up and steadied it.
As for rental insurance, they typically do. I pay about $250 a year, and it covers $300,000 liability, and $20,000 for personal effects.
- gidiv, on 10/31/2007, -6/+166dugg for priorities
- rasmg, on 10/31/2007, -2/+9In downtown San Jose, I definitely felt it!! The initial rumble sounded like a very low jet airplane, then it sweeped across and rumbled the walls for about 5 seconds. There was another 5 seconds of swaying where it felt like this old Victorian house was going to fall down from up here on the 2nd floor. Not my first earthquake but definitely the strongest and scariest!
- dralter, on 10/31/2007, -5/+3I am in Saratoga 31 miles from the epicenter. First we felt a vibration then came the rolling you could also hear it, seems to have lasted over 10 seconds.
- ngmcs8203, on 10/31/2007, -1/+1Is Alum Rock really that far away? Wow... I live in MoHill now, but grew up in Los Gatos and was 7 when the 89 earthquake hit. Now THAT was an earthquake. Just be glad this wasn't on the Hayward fault.
- digger_twit, on 10/31/2007, -4/+5Felt in Richmond District, SF.
- jivebotic, on 10/31/2007, -2/+11It's always weird to see someone post from your same neighborhood.
- troymccluresf, on 10/31/2007, -1/+2/grew up half a block from Trad'r Sam, now living (and felt it as a rolling 3.0 in) Duboce Triangle.
- Scottbulance, on 10/31/2007, -1/+2My girlfriend lives there and she said she did not feel it haha
- seventoes, on 10/31/2007, -0/+4Kind of blended in with the sex she was having with your best friend.
- quaxon, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2the quake shook my apartment here in nob hill slightly more than the 1 does when it roars by. It lasted for a while though so i thought it was working up to something bigger. Pretty much every huge quake ive been in started out like this and worked its way into epic shaking so i always jump up when i feel something. My gf is from ohio and has never felt a quake, big or small, till moving out here and thinks nothing of them. I usually have to tell her to get up and ready to run everytime i feel the apartment shake.
- Srcc, on 10/31/2007, -0/+0Not by me (outer Richmond), but then I was on some pretty heavy drugs thanks to a broken arm.
I have the flimsiest bookshelves in the world and they didn't fall. Not a very impressive quake at all. but I am very glad for that.
- jivebotic, on 10/31/2007, -2/+11It's always weird to see someone post from your same neighborhood.
- rdwing, on 10/31/2007, -4/+3Felt in Fremont, CA. Major shaking.
- hcl40u, on 10/31/2007, -4/+4Certainly felt this one considering it lasted it good 10-15 seconds. Time sure does seem to slow down when stuff like this happens though.
- gidiv, on 10/31/2007, -3/+714 miles due north in Pleasanton, Wow, I mean really. Grabbed the laptop and a few bits a pieces ready to run. I lived in the Philippines for 3 years and over there you really do get the f out when the shaking starts.
- spargett, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2The streets are not a safe place to be during an earthquake. Just ask anyone who saw the 89' quakes in SF. That's exactly where the houses pancaked onto.
- Zayre, on 10/31/2007, -0/+0Yep, felt it in Pleasanton too.
- dwninjungleland, on 10/31/2007, -6/+8In Alum Rock-- big difference from San Francisco for us bay areans (yeah it's a word)
- otatop, on 10/31/2007, -3/+21It was 50 miles away from San Francisco.

I felt it in Santa Cruz.- thebadkitty, on 10/31/2007, -2/+3Awesome. Me too. I'm close to Capitola
- otatop, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2I live on 41st avenue, right at the edge of Capitola and Santa Cruz.
- bberg07, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1I just moved to SC from Michigan. That was my first quake, and it was definitely and interesting feeling.

- clearwaterlab, on 11/01/2007, -6/+84Did not feel it in Portland.

- kahnartizt07, on 10/31/2007, -2/+20My glass shook a little over here in Tokyo, but it could've been Gozirra.
- bmunichman, on 10/31/2007, -2/+2Didn't feel it in New Zealand. Now I could be forgetful, but California hasn't had many properly big earthquakes in a while. I've lived in Los Angeles for almost 20 years and the last major one I can remember was Northridge in 96? 98?
If it wasn't for that whole destructive aspect of earthquakes, its kind of fun to have the ground shake around like that.
- sockpuppets, on 11/01/2007, -5/+49I was practicing my incantations at the time and thought I had finally succeeded.

- DarkenKO, on 10/31/2007, -4/+19NOT San Fran, more like San Jose
- PopcornDave, on 10/31/2007, -1/+4Yeah, but you have to remember that people outside of California don't really know San Jose exists. They've never heard of it. Their point of reference for northern California is either Sacramento or San Francisco.
- troymccluresf, on 10/31/2007, -2/+1Fox News said is was felt "as far north as Santa Rosa and as far east as Sacramento."
So uh, scratch Sacramento from your list.

- Gir53457, on 10/31/2007, -1/+1Being the largest city in California I'd figure we'd get more street rep...
- quaxon, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1somehow i doubt san jose is bigger than LA or even san diego. You can see the whole city out the window of an airplane.
- shm0edawg, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1Yeah I live in north San Jose closer to Alum Rock and the apartment SWAYED! I kept one hand on my widescreen monitor and the other on my desk as my speakers fell off and the walls creaked. There is some light structural damage to our complex. The stucko seemed to crack on a lot of porches. My complex is new, too. Built in 2002 or something.

- tamsinh, on 10/31/2007, -1/+0I'm in Emeryville and I didn't feel anything at all! My mom lives in Sunnyvale and she definitely felt it. It messed with the phone networks too... she couldn't call me for a good half hour.

- InitialDMP5, on 10/31/2007, -1/+3hahahaha, after the water slides were taken down, Manteca no longer exists in my mind. Its just some dead space on my way to the Bay Area. ^_~
- Gir53457, on 10/31/2007, -1/+2I LOVED them. Remember that one slide that had the one really long and strait plaster section? You could like, stand up and surf there on the mat.

- specialK16, on 10/31/2007, -6/+6Hope everyone's fine. Here in Costa Rica we get quite a lot of those. Haven't felt a hard one for some months now. Still, I know how it feels, it takes you out of nowhere and scares the ***** out of you.
- ShakataGaNai, on 10/31/2007, -4/+3In Walnut Creek here. Most everyone I talked to in the area felt it, though it wasn't terribly strong up here. I wasn't scared mainly because I was also here for the quake of '89 - that was a LOT stronger.

- ImprovingLemon, on 11/01/2007, -5/+44I'm in Saratoga. I was working and the quake knocked over a whole bunch of goddamn Ragu at my store. Had to clean it all up. ***** California
- DiggzDE, on 10/31/2007, -10/+2***** yeah! Saratoga. You working at the Safeway at the Argonaut Shopping Center, you "poor" little bitch?
- mobislink, on 10/31/2007, -2/+5I'm glad it wasn't the Prego. It relay does taste like home made. Ragu on the other hand taste like enhanced ketchup.
- wordglue, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1...maybe ragu tastes like enhanced ketchup but Prego comes in a plastic container and wouldn't shatter...think outside the plastic: try some Barilla or Classico, i think it will rock your conception of what a pasta sauce can be
- sgtconfig, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1I'm in Saratoga too. I was rehearsing in the auditorium at the highschool. And the whole ***** building started to sway.
- DiggzDE, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1I paid for that damn thing while attending and I didn't even get to use it.
- thetubmarine, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1HAHA, wow I am in saratoga as well. Didn't realize there were a ton of us here on digg. Saddest part of the earthquake, I was in my car with my gf and her sister. And I told her "wow my fat just jiggled a lot more than normal" (we just went over a bump so I just figured hey, maybe I'm getting fatter. Lol glad to figure out it was an earthquake
- caponumen, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1I'm coming by and leaving a "duce" for you in isle 3......
- sloncek, on 10/31/2007, -3/+2It kinda freaked me out cause the whole building was so loud.
- mandarin, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1Thats not a good sign. Better move out or have the building checked if its up to earthquake standards.
