- FBMGriever, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28Mr Litvineko had a good choice of last words. This is a very sad event that has taken place but I am very interested to see what comes forth from this.
I have been keeping up with the issue as well and personally from what I have heard, I too am saying Putin was behind this man's poisoning.- Katana, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25Given the fact he was killed with Polonium-210 shows it was done by a powerful organisation. As far as i know that can only be obtained from nuclear reactors.
- TSK06, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15It can be found in nature but it is very rare. In any case, you are right. It is so rare that whoever used it must have had ties to something powerful. I am certain it was it was Putin.
- pritch, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5You don't have to be all that powerful to buy Polonium. A quick bit of googling shows that you can get it for $69, although I'm not sure just how much you get for your money.
- itsthemechanic, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4I wouldn't be surprised if he was also behind the death of that regime-critical reporter a while back. He really is a scumbag and the rest of the world (especially in Europe) is kissing his ass because he has the largest national gas resources on the block. Go figure.
- hakluytbean, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@ itsthemechanic, it may look that way from across the pond but whatever bad stuff may happen people still need energy. For example the Soviet Union supplied gas to Europe during the Cold War. They needed money, Europe needed gas. It's not a question of sucking up, it's just business.
- DeusMachinae, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The government's emergency planning committee is called COBRA? We need to get GI Joe in here to solve this one,
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It's pretty obvious Putin did it. But I wouldn't completely rule out someone else's involvement.
In any case, who ever did it will get away with it, because the UK and every other country reserves the right to conduct such operations. The UK wouldn't want its own assassins convicted.
They'll go have a laugh about all this at the next WTO meeting. Then they'll discuss what war to start next. - OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5You want some Polonium-210? Here you go:
http://www.2spi.com/catalog/photo/statmaster.shtml
http://www.company7.com/staticmaster/products/staticmaster.html
Ooh, it's so hard to obtain and so rare. See what crap the mainstream media feeds you?
I'm not saying Putin didn't do it, but the hype the media creates around everything is sickening. At one point they said Polonium-210 most likely came from the Soviet space program, like no one else has easy access to it! - wacki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Given the fact he was killed with Polonium-210 shows it was done by a powerful organisation. As far as i know that can only be obtained from nuclear reactors."
Or tobacco companies:
http://www.google.com/search?q=polonium+cigarettes&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a - sanman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I don't think Putin is a scumbag, I think that's just the "liberals" (Cold War die-hards in disguise, pretending to be all freedom-loving) are more interesting in pushing the Russians' backs to the wall, and then crying foul when they lash out swinging. I think many of the "liberals" (who were very happy to support Chechens, Kosovo Liberation Army and other non-state violators of human rights) are actually spoiling for another Cold War fight. The whole reason these "liberals" are angry at Bush right now, is because he's taken Western gunsights off the Russian forehead and re-targetted them against Middle Eastern militants.
Bah, the Cold War is an old war, and if you're spoiling for a fight with the Russians again, then you're no liberal -- you're just a Cold War hawk masquerading as a liberal. Dialogue with the Russians and help to assuage their fears on separatism, and you'll see positive results. But the "liberals" only adopt such thinking when it comes to engaging Islamists (ie. dialogue with Iran which has assassinated very many foreign exiles, or dialogue with Islamists who openly call for destruction of the West)
I call that ugly hypocrisy. I call that a total lack of credibility. Selective liberalism isn't liberalism at all. It's just a clever way for White Euro-centrists to pull a fast one and hood-wink the rest of the world.
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -27/+7Lets not forget the guy was a spy and took part in many bombings. he's no saint.
- SillyDigger, on 10/12/2007, -14/+4Bombings?
WTF???
Where do you get that from? - chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -4/+23he was a spy in the KGB and exposed plans and operations into bombings done by them and blamed on Chechnya to boost support for Putin.
- BabyWookie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, he was also claiming that Putin ordered the 9-11.
- SillyDigger, on 10/12/2007, -14/+4Bombings?
- MrFur1ous, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16There's no proof that his death was violent other than the fact that his urine could peg a Geiger counter and glowed in the dark. I guess radiation poisoning is "non-violent".
- tekz0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Radiation poisoning isn't the most pleasant way to go, and though it may be non-violent, it's definitely not quick and painless.
- seattle98104, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12and what does the extent to which you are "violent" in killing someone matter? isn't it enough that you killed them?
I could run a hose from my muffler into your room while you're sleeping, of which you would have no idea nor feel any pain when passsing. it doesn't make it right. - megaloid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Putin's reply was carefully-worded to avoid an explicit denial, yet vague enough to intimidate those who are familiar with his ways. The message is blunt: "Get on my bad side and you will die in slow and unexpected ways." Radiation poisoning is an extremely unpleasant form of death, although if Mr. Putin's standards are to be taken at face value (inadvisable,) not a "violent" one. Personally, if I was on Putin's *****, I'd opt for the "violent" hit and be done with it. That is some seriously psychopathic gangland *****, injecting your enemy with radioactive poison.
- joe90210, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2"we don't believe you, you need more peoples"
- justinsuperstar, on 10/12/2007, -21/+13Governments doing evil things!?!?! Why by golly I could NEVER believe that! Probably those pesky Muslims again ... the only proper reaction is to invade Iran.
- cjmovie, on 10/12/2007, -6/+10Although I realize this is sarcasm, I personally believe it was in bad taste.
- appetite, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1wow you don't have an agenda, huh?
- sbovisjb1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Well putin has silenced alot of people. Maybe you have heard of certain russian reporter?
- megaloid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Yeah, she's trading war stories with Litvinenko in the hereafter.
- megaloid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Yeah, she's trading war stories with Litvinenko in the hereafter.
- otheruser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Mr. Litvinenko's death is indeed a tragic happening. Tragic and disturbing in that this is the SECOND TIME in a very brief period that a critic of the Kremlin has been murdered. It's quite clear that Russia does not want Chechnya to exist, and now it's also clear that they'll do anything necessary to justify victory.
Sad indeed.- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3And senior Government ministers and security officials held a meeting of Cobra, the Government's emergency planning committee.
quick call gijoe - BabyWookie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm afraid, you don't know what the ***** you're talking about, otheruser.
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3And senior Government ministers and security officials held a meeting of Cobra, the Government's emergency planning committee.
- demonsofgoetia, on 10/12/2007, -19/+1In Soviet Russia, message sends you!
- repoman, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6oh chris..
what an idiot you are...talking about things you don't know about...
firstly KGB is like FBI, it existed when there was the Soviet Union( ended 1991) Which meant no more KGB, some started working for the FSB(the new 'kgb' or translated at federal service bureau). Putin was never know about to anyone until late 90's. Putin himself was KGB. At the time when KGB existed no one gave a damn about chechnya..as they were surrounded by other countries in the soviet union..kazakhstan.etc Putin killed Anna(jounalist) and Alex. The next death is coming soon is all I can say. p.s I am russian,- alski707, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well actually the KGB is more like the FBI, CIA, and secret service all rolled into one, not disagreeing, just pointing that out.
- repoman, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2What do you mean they don't want chechnya to exist? They are fighting for land mainly and terrorism. Like Bush in Iraq...but different. We have evidence they made serveral attacks in Moscow.
- Modulo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3ignore this
- vorj, on 10/12/2007, -12/+2Litvinenko is a creature created by the BBC. Notice the over use of 'KGB' to describe a guy that was an crime investigator for the FSB (FBI or Mi5). The guy was a bodyguard and long time friend of Boris Abramovich Berezovsky a russian oligarch and accused crime figure in russia who Litvinenko claims the FSB tried to have him assassinate (wile Litvinenko just happened to be linked to him).
- vorj, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Other Far Fetched claims of Litvinenko:
Russia laid sea based Nuclear Mines. Something even western intelligence says in non-sense.
Had two men arrested by UK Mi5 for trying to assassinate Putin.
Claims FSB bombed the moscow apartment block that killed 300 people and blamed on the chechens. Claims the bomber the FSB caught didnt know khattab the man claiming responsibility and being blamed by the Kremlin. FSB released a photo showing the bomber with Khattab, but who are you to believe a FSB traitor that tells far fetched storiesto grind or your own lying eyes.
BBC also forgets to mention Litvinenko is working with a chechen website in the UK. - bury, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"who are you to believe a FSB traitor that tells far fetched storiesto grind or your own lying eyes."
Man, you just lap up all the lies given to you by the state-controlled media. Even if your distortion of the facts were true, that doesn't mean Putin is any less capable or willing to have Litvinenko killed. - vorj, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4First of all I'm not in Russia or Russian.
When someone says, "Hey the Russian government blew up a apartment buildings to start a war!". I dont automatically say, "Oh, those evil russkies at it again". I actually keep up with the story.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/2154100.stm
Here are some excerpts:
"The Russian security service has published photographs which it says prove a key suspect in the deadly 1999 apartment blasts had ties with a Chechen warlord, whom Moscow blames for organising the bombings. "
"The pictures appeared a day after a dissident FSB agent, Alexander Litvinenko, presented evidence which he said proved Mr Gochiyayev's innocence. "
"In addition, Mr Litvinenko said a British forensic analyst said it could not be determined whether the man in the photo was in fact Mr Gochiyayev. "
The picture is there and look up Gochiyayev. Like I said will you believe the FSB traitor or your own lying eyes? - Modulo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Yes, vorj, the Russian government has never been known to manipulate photographs. Also, Oceana has always been our enemy
- alski707, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Vorj,
Meh and Whatever, just state your sources or keep getting buried, just because you say something doesn’t mean it’s true, you want people to take you seriously? Post some links to some actual evidence.
- vorj, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Other Far Fetched claims of Litvinenko:
- DarkDakota, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Putin the next mini Stalin?
- repoman, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5no.
- UnknownCzar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Stalin starved his own people, killing millions. And then imprisoned them in a similar method as the witch trials, someone says your anti-gov and your gone. He then gave too little food/shelter/warmth to the prisoners, killing millions of them.
Putin just kills folks he doesn't like.
both are evil, just stalin is evil-er. - OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Putin is also a little smarter than Stalin. Russia hasn't had a leader this savvy in a while.
- repoman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Okay let me explain the whole situation..long story but I most for the stupid people here...
Boris Berezovsky = BB
Ahmed Forgot His Surname: A
Alex Litvinenko= AL
Putin: P
Boris Yeltsin = BY
Soviet Union ends, Russia needs money, owns lots and lots decides to sell for very cheap. BB buys and A is a good friend of his. He buys out nearly all the media (BB) near the mid 90's. Putin is starting to get into politics. Late 90's BB is being forced to sell all his companies by putin and go to war in chechnya why? So he has a 'democratic' country where the state controls the media and used A as an excuse saying BB is funding chechnya which isn't true. Abramovich would of been in BB situation but he invested in things that help the economy and cannot do harm .e.g media. I know someone that works for the most popular TV station( director) he said 95% of the stories have something to in-directly or directly to do with Putin. They aren't allowed to publish anything without his press permission. So anyways..
Anya the journalist who got killed had info proving that Putin went to Chechnya for nothing and killed Innocent people.. AL got the info she had and gets killed..coincidence anyone?- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3good job mystery inc
- vorj, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6Boris Berezovsky got most of his wealth through corruption and some even say violence. If you dont believe Berezovsky was involved with chechens or criminal activity I suggest you read the murdered American-Russian Forbes journalist Paul Klebnikov's book Godfather of the Kremlin.
Putin shut down the media no doubt about it. But the guys he took the media from were criminals and the media they ran was privatised, yes! Free, no! I dont think hes a democrat btw.
Anna Politkovskaya was investigating Chechen Prime Minster Ramzan Kadyrov at the time of her murder not Putin.
Litvinenko was getting info for a chechen online propaganda site(Kavkaz Center) I suggest you read litvinenko's writings on it. He's a nut job with KGB-FSB credentials
STOP TURNING RUSSIA INTO A WESTERN SPY NOVEL STEREOTYPE BASED ON IGNORANCE AND PROPAGANDA! - OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Some people just can't believe that the Chechens aren't as innocent as some western human rights organizations try to make them out to be.
Chechnya HAD independence after the first war, and they attacked their neighbors. This is what some people seem to forget. They seem to think Russia provoked the Chechens into a second war.
What the Chechens did was like Mexico attacking Puerto Rico. The US would have intervened in that just like Russia did. Or how Serbia did in Kosovo.
And what the hell do you call the war in Iraq!? The British need to stop being such hypocrites. Chechnya was no worse than Iraq, and Kosovo was not the genocide the BBC and CNN claimed it was.
What is the UK doing about Sudan, if it's so concerned about human rights and genocide? In Sudan there WAS genocide, and the UK did nothing! - BabyWookie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How about that whole invasion of Dagestan by hundreds of armed Chechen bandits? Was that made up by the FSB too? Did that not give Russians the right to move in and restore order in Chechnya?
- Qtip42, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Amazing how this still goes on in this day and age. It's sad that nobody values a single person's life anymore. This really goes for all governments.
- blackmariah, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4'Cause as we all know... governments of the past were never in any way responsible for people's deaths.
***** *****...
- blackmariah, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4'Cause as we all know... governments of the past were never in any way responsible for people's deaths.
- repoman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3vorj, it wasn't corruption..but then you can say many people are corrupt in the same way..at the time it wasn't corruption and it wasn't illegal now it is..
It's like if I took coke before it was illegal you would say druggie.taking illegal substances..but I done it when it was legal (just example). I have actually met Berezovsky and his family before. Also I am russian and visit russia often...want a fact? Bribe for anything want another? its corrupt want another? putin is the most corrupt.
There is only 1 independent newspaper! FFS!- vorj, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Boris Berezovsky and Vladimir Gusinsky to this day is named in criminal activity.
Gusinsky who owned the largest media empire in Russia when putin took over "holds Israeli citizenship and often resides in Israel, where he has been under investigation for money laundering." -wikipedia
- vorj, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Boris Berezovsky and Vladimir Gusinsky to this day is named in criminal activity.
- vorj, on 10/12/2007, -16/+3I think Daniel Craig poisioned him to promote Casino Royale...I dun know just a theory.
- atdigg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I think you are an idiot.... it's just a theory...
- vorj, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1I wasn't being serious or making a botched joke I was being Contemptuous. I honestly think its a fictional cloak and dagger story like the James Bond flicks.
- atdigg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4except for the small detail that the guy really died.
- mutz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6When will people stand up and say enough is enough... giving power to one person always leads to corruption, war,...
Most leaders of this planet should be hanged as an example...- CyberGhost, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Society cannot live without a leader, it'd be a total chaos.
Anyways, I'm pretty tired of hearing about Russia being evil and stuff, US and Britiain kill their own spys from time to time too, If he was ordered by Putin that means, he knew too much or was a threat to a country. - cdemi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that makes it real fair then...
- CyberGhost, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Society cannot live without a leader, it'd be a total chaos.
- Mishok666, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4People are blowing this way out of proportion. The news article was probably published just to entertain all the tom-clancy-reading conspiracy theorists. Nothing more.
A lot of the people, who make comments about Russia being undemocratic or how the citizens of the country should rise up to the despotic leader , should realize that the situation in Russia is different than it is in US or UK , so your ideals, values, or beliefs don't apply in the same way they do in the west.- hakluytbean, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma
- atdigg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Unfortunately most of the Russians are probably OK with these methods to get rid of adversaries for "greater good" of Mother Russia. In that case it's really irrelevant if Russia is democratic or not.
- vorj, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The Russia government successfully and wrongly smeared Anna Politkovskaya as a cook and western stooge but they were no less shocked and appalled when Anna Polikiskya was murdered. Comments like this are why I'm so annoyed by this story it paints the cold war stereo types of Russians in the eyes of westerners.
- ASHTONZANECKI, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1CyberGhost:
True, but no one seems to pick good leaders, so it's almost the same as not having leaders.
P.S. Russia is only nice with people because we have a deal with them that says if you bomb us, we bomb you. They would absolutely be more evil if we didn't have that deal in place.
P.S.S. No they don't. - GrayOne, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1A western government should see to it that Mr. Putin has some sort of lethal accident. He is a destabilizing force and a pseudo dictator.
- atdigg, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I hope Putin will have a "non-violent" death too.
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Destabilizing force to who? He seems to be doing a good job keeping the US-UK globalists at bay.
- BabyWookie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2***** clueless russophobic assholes...
- atdigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Putinophobic
- Navitron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Heres him giving a statement to the frontline club before he was poisoned.
