‘Dump your children here’ box to stop mothers killing their babies

timesonline.co.uk — Desperate mothers are being urged to drop their unwanted babies through hatches at hospitals in an effort to halt a spate of infanticides that has shocked Germany. At least 23 babies have been killed so far this year, many of them beaten to death or strangled by their mothers before being dumped on wasteland and in dustbins.

      Bias is NEVER appropriate in reporting. It is up to the reader (who in this case would have enough common sense) to judge. I hate it when the newspaper subtly tries to tell me what to think.

      Bias is a GIVEN in reporting. In order to have a completely unbiased reporter, you would have to have a reporter that is fully capable of seeing the story from ALL angles. Reporters in the real world, on the other hand, only have two eyes, two ears, and a limited amount of time in which they must determine the credibility of witnesses, and the amount of information they can cram into the sound-bite or blog.

      Subscribe to both liberal and conservative news sites. then you get parts of two sides to million- sided issues, which is twice as good as most people.

      You are talking about an entirely different scale of bias. To see real bias, go to fox news or the new york times. I stick with BBC or the economist for my news on the world/America, I find they tend to give a relatively unbiased view compared to American news sources.

      Indeed. I have mixed feelings about all this and I can't shake it off. It's a good thing ("dumping' instead of "killing" can't be wrong!!!) but then again, discarding your own whatsoever is just sickening.

      I don't know bout that one. An orphan at the hands of the Texas Youth Commission would be in pretty bad shape. No, orphans are not thereby criminals, and not that orphans are thereby wards of TYC, but as bad as the TYC is, I fear for any child in the care of any Texas State services.

    I know it sounds harsh but I personally believe it is much better for the baby, the mother, and society as a hole to just kill off the thing when its to young to have any thing done with its life. If there kept alive at orphanages the government has to pay to keep them alive won't pay for college so they get out at 18 being an unskilled worker with no where to go. Many end up looking to crime to get through, they get caught and again the government has to support them in a cycle of being released committing a crime and putting them back in jail. Many times they create more soon to be orphaned children because the mothers aren't smart enough to realize what is going to happen and just abort them. If they stay with their mother many go through mental or physical abuse and end up having a horrid life. Sure theres a few that end up doing well but thats only a very few, its much better to put them out of their misery when their young.

No one can truthfully say they would rather have never lived than to have not lived a really fulfilling life. Even if you hate your life, at least you have one.

      Secondly, college funding works differently in most European countries. The university system in Germany is part of the free public schooling system, for the most part. You either test in and go for free or you don't go. Lack of parental assistance in funding will not stop them from getting a degree.

      Third, if you're going to suggest that an uneducated person's life is meaningless, do it with better grammar and spelling.

Not only stereotypical but also shows how much faith you have in the human ability to improve yourself over your ancestors. Do you believe you become your parents because of legacy or do you believe in forging your own destiny ? I vote for the latter.

The baby was stillborn but still, a really sad story never the less. It really sucks how much people in this world have so little value for human life.

    Having a baby when you aren't married is taboo in Germany, so when one is born out of wedlock, people often try to get rid of the illegitimate child.
    And the teens are not taught how to use condoms or other forms of birth control in school, they are told to be abstinent instead. Of course, this strategy has already proven itself not to work, but the conservative parents don't care, they just want to think their children will never have sex.

Also I don't share your opinion, that Germany is a deeply conservative country and yes you can have kids without being married.
